Ever tried sprinting when you’re trying to catch a bus for class?
Hell, man, running with one backpack is hard. Or am I just a packmule in catadda? Longstoryshort sprinting would be a nice feature but encumbrance will make it an unavailable ability a lot of the time, I think.
I’d call it uncomfortable, not hard. Maybe it would decrease your morale?
I kind of feel like I’m hijacking the thread all LOOKIT ME ART U: :U U: flailing my tiny emoticon head around. Yup. That’s my disclaimer. I’m ah. Not very good at those. I just don’t want to feel like I’m outdoing people, since that is not the intention. I’ve just been drawing a very long time,
(Translation: I am an awkward man, you should all draw more if it is what you like doing!)
My girlfriend has recently gotten into the game too, she made a character based on one from another story work of hers. She was bummed that you couldn’t start out with mutations, so I drew her character up as a dorky snakelady.
You’ve got talent (and obviously a bunch of experience), Pthalocy. I get the feeling folks just go all smiley whenever you post more stuff.
You know, it being good an’ all.
Been drawing all my life but I can’t force this stuff out of my head. I’d gladly do more DDA stuff buuut it just has to happen naturally.
My avatar’s a good example. Just screwing around, thought of Cataclysm and voilà, fun stuff.
Yeahh, that’s a weird-edged sword, inspiration. Not sure if double-edged.
On the one hand, if I draw without inspiration, I have one hell of a time trying to start and I don’t like that part. On the other one, if I wait for a good idea to float by, I spend an absurd amount of time waiting. Sometimes I just have to force myself to draw and then I wind up finding solutions to work around the artblock. That’s largely why I draw those toons. Right mindset (draw!), none of the daunting detail work. I guess I trick myself into it? Granted I do the same thing when faced with diving towers at the local pool, taking a step before I can second-guess how much I don’t want to. WELP MIGHT AS NOW DO IT NOW THAT I’M DRAWING/IN FREEFALL NOW.
Didn’t know you drew your avatar - that explains the totally-appropriate mutations combo. I’ve liked that little tentacledude.
My problem is not with the inspiration, it’s with skill. I’ve had a bad art teacher in 5th grade, primary school, and haven’t drawn much since then.
But your drawings are always good and fun to see, I’m ok with you hijacking any thread.
I've had a bad art teacher in 5th grade, primary school, and haven't drawn much since then.
Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that. Crap teachers when you’re young can ruin whole fields of fun
If it helps any, most of what got me drawing was largely having nothing to do during recess because I was that kid other kids excluded for no particular reason. That and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG COMICS. I’ve had some nice teachers for art class, but the majority of artwork I remember producing was done during non-art lectures. eue hehehe.
I’m hoping to draw up my regular cataDDA dudes with some mutations too, though that hasn’t happened in my games. (unless Harvey’s mis-coded tentacle arms count.)
Welll, I’ve always been a self taught kind of guy. Though never got into drawing much.
Gotta agree that teachers do always want you to do stuff the way they want it.
Okay so today, I got extremely lucky. Right in front of Evac Shelter, were dead military (No ID cards, Damn!)
Then, I find two metal wreckage sites… Yay, found something called the Black Military Box (found one at each site)
Then, come to a Military Bunker, YAY, Dead scientists (WOW, My lucky day)
Now everythign is fine, but after Searching the bodies, I walk around the wall, come back in front of it, and now there is a Turret there? Which wasn’t there a second ago. WTF is up with that? Honestly…
EDIT: WOW, I loaded game, to right before I encountered these scientists, picked everything up again (Cause that turret is just plain Bull)
Walked down a few steps, More dead Scientists…
Could I get any luckier???
EDIT (Again)
I found a Gas Station… And Stupidly, set up turrets all around it, as a Home Defense kind of thing. I’ve suddenly realised, they are likely to blow the place skyhigh at some point, so if that happens… : (
hahaha i had the same situation , only the zombies crawled through an open window and they didnt notice me sleeping in the corner of the room. One of the zombies was electric zombie and 2 regular zombies , but they sure were dumber than bricks because i could see the electriz zombie glowing in the dark and they noticed me only after i woke up and started bashing their heads.
Guess im a ninja in a suit , top hat and a monocle.
