Within certain conditions a sword can pose a threat against a firearm, but not beyond it’s length. There’s a reason it’s not used anymore.

Fun fact, police and military personnel are actually taught that, in a closed room or at close range, a knife is a larger threat than a firearm. You don’t have to draw or aim (much) a CQC weapon.

A sword is not exactly CQC. Also, you don’t really have to aim accurately from that close, it’s enough to hit somewhere, where it hurts.

Unless you’re facing someone who holds talent with a sword as well, I don’t see driving a piece of steel into a the average man’s flesh needing too much skill or finesse.

It still doesn’t do much if the guy with the sword is slow and predictable, and someone without training is that probably.

The reason they’re not used is because they’re big and bulky to carry around. Compare that to a combat knife which you can forget you even have most of the time.

Also most swords aren’t that “slow and bulky”. They’re only unwieldy because you’re holding them in only one hand, at the very end. Alternatively someone swinging a normal, one handed sword wildly with both their arms may not look very impressive, or even hold any real skill behind it, but it’s not going to be slow.

It’s probably a little less adorable when you remember that character has been abusing the mutagens (beast-flavored, mostly) and can run down a wolf and overpower a hulk, but hey.

Haha, sounds good… But different artists kind of draw in different styles… And will look weird.
Personally, I like the ASCII and will stick with it, but I know there are many others on here who are waiting on the Tile Set support.
