Well this is a new option! And a great one at that! I’m gonna play it right now. Only on experimental.

And I put this up as a feedback thing for whoever else plays the desert_test.

Well, that went terribly.

Spawned in, no forests. The only thing on the ground was what you expect in the desert. Sand. But some grey parts were [e]xamined as “scorched earth”.

Spooky.

Desert_test is just that - a test.

Atomicdryad got https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/pull/5134 merged 2 days ago, and the desert test is a test of region settings.

Exciting stuff, i’d say.

I felt that way at too first, my eyes sort of adjusted to it after a while. Maybe a darker shade of yellow would be better though?

…i’m one too. Still, I really think that picture is a wonderful illustration of what cata deserts are gonna be like. Survivors in silly rags walking across a boundless desert with piles of junk in shopping carts.

Recently played 30 days in the desert, was fun.

Two requests:

Make cactuses produce some cactus plant (not poppy as now, so we can actually be survivalists with a “natural” watersource)
Change the biome a bit. (Less bears, more scorpions)

Scorpions should die if they walk over a puddle of alcohol.

Because when your out alcohol on a scorpion it stings itself to death.

Also giant rad scorpions.

+1 this. Hot at day and cold at night, no water and food for miles, fewer loot. Desert can be the “hardcore” mode for the game.
