Cataclysm DDA Version 0.2

This has been mentioned between the devs a bit and there is a theory that this is caused by the change to the static spawn system. Rather, the removal of zombies from the dynamic spawn system. Hopefully that is the case and that it can get solved quickly!

Oh well. It keeps me well stocked in meat. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bodytemp is disabled at the moment, so you must be using an old character. You’re cold being what used to be comfortable (500 units) is now far from the new comfortable (5000 units). You don’t get warmer, because temps are disabled.

Same goes for all bugs temperature related bugs at the moment. You have to remake your templates and start a new character. I don’t think there were ever bugs of this nature, so I don’t think the code needs to be commented out anymore.
Its a brand new copy. I just downloaded it, made a character and now I’m so very cold :frowning:

Not sure if bite infections are in .2 or a more recent git update, but how do you treat them? I tried antibiotics and bandages but it doesn’t seem to have done anything. The pain won’t let me sleep :expressionless:

First aid kit can kill the bite wound, antibiotics defeats the actual infection.

I just got this awesome Roguelike (Windows Installation) last weekend when I heard about it because it was mentioned in an article that Rock Paper Shotgun linked to. And, I, too am running into the perpetually “Cold” bug with no previously existing characters or templates.

But it might just be a cosmetic “Cold” warning appearing on the bottom, because it does not seem to affect my morale or anything, it just says “Cold” down there in the status bar the majority of the time.

Aside from that, the game’s been working fairly well. I did run into a crash when I tried to enter my first cave, though. That and some other crash I wasn’t sure what entirely caused it, but it might be related to the “none” inventory slot on starting NPCs (there’s a C:\cygwin\home\Kyratzes\Cataclysm-DDA\game.cpp[7987]: Static NPC with no fine location data (8:-1). message that popped up some time before it happened during the same game).

So do you guys post live dev notes to the next patch or do you just randomly update the game whenever?

I compile a release whenever I feel we have enough small features, or whenever a large feature is added usually.

Hey! Just wondering… Did this version happen to kill off the spider lair caverns?

I mean we still get spider webs and stuff, but I can’t seem to find any spider lairs underneath the ground anymore.

Since it hasnt been mentioned yet:
Thanks for the possibility to make mapnotes with letters other than ‘N’. If you release a way to colour the letter freely, I’ll happy forever!

Also: You can view the dev work over at the Git Repo

I’m having a great time with static spawns. I was pretty sure I’d find it too easy or something, and it might be, if only I could survive long enough to find out. It’s great =]

Playing on 0.2 win32 build which has been stable outside of a few menu inconsistencies with relatively obvious workarounds. I’ve seen one map generation glitch but been unable to reproduce so far. Has anyone else seen NPC training not teaching related abilities? Like having the quest NPC teach archery or tai-chi results in no ability to craft lvl1 archery recipes (having level 1 renders the book useless as well) or attempting to equip the martial arts style fails with “you don’t have that item”.

Crafting archery items requires L2 skill. (last I checked)
And were you equipping the martial art with _ ?

@tuck: NPCs are also buggy as hell and will eat your world :frowning: Did the ‘no skill after teaching’ bug persist after moving about a bit? Sometimes it glitches and doesn’t show up until the player moves, other times it just doesn’t work at all.

Also, if you end up traveling far enough, part of the world ends up falling out of memory or something.

Bug: I use picklock kit some times. After damaging, item not destroy.

You’d need a steel helmet to pull this off, and those haven’t been in use since the 70s by any major country.
(i.e. helmets in-game are all but guaranteed to be kevlar-type, not metal, and hence unsuitable for cooking.)
Steel helmet is used today in Russian army.

Sounds like there are a lot of very juicy additions to the next version, consider me watching like a hawk.

heym, you just need to have read the book or have taken the training to start making piles of arrows.
just making arrows is enough to level the skill up so that you can make an actual longbow at lvl2.
