What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

I’m using a tileset so the tiles should already be square…

But for some reason the options to set the viewport dimensions don’t really set the viewport dimensions.

I have a big black bar over on the left. I want the entire window to be either viewport or my menu on the right. So what is that black bar doing there?

Headed for a mine entrance with a character with level 5 in computer, in a veichle outside i found a crowbar some water and a flashlight, activated the elevator and ended in a lava rift with corpses on the ground filled with batteries and clean water, the game is tempting me to proceed deeper, should i succumb to the call of the discover or get back and stay safe in zombieland?

After a peaceful night in the lab in the middle of nowhere, I decided to relax by the fireplace with some boring books. I opened a door and saw… A giant jumping spider, or something like that. Not a problem, I always have my trusty superpowered M14 “hulkslayer(5 kills)”:

A spider…managed to pass 3 turrets, 5 manhacks, 3 layers of traps and 2 layers of spiked pits. And this damn thing is BULLETPROOF?!
Oh well, my char somehow managed to headthrow it with a hatchet and 3 throwing.

Not exactly my apocalypse, but rather a friend’s, who I tried showing how to play Cataclysm: DDA.

It took me about 10-15 real-life minutes to explain to him the controls, what to do, and some basic early-game strategies. He found a group of dead drug runners, found a decent set of loot (a trench coat, a backpack, and a crowbar), and tried making his way to the closest hardware and gun stores.

Cue a Zombie Brute, a Tough Zombie, a Zombie Necromancer, a Spitter Zombie, a skeletal dog, a zombie dog, a zombie child, a handful of Fat Zombies, and a whole lotta Zombies’s begin to start mobbing together and attacking him. He immediately had a change of plans and started running towards the nearest gun store (which was about 7 more blocks away).

Wolf Spider armor is capable of reflecting NX-17 vehicle turrets i.e. a LASER RIFLE.

The HELL? A few versions back I was killing and eating wolf spiders as my favourite snack food and I don’t recall it ever being a problem. I couldn’t even HIT deer. Bears were too tough. Wolf spiders dropped easily.

Thus far, my apocalypse has gone a little bit too well, haven’t done anything drastic, delved into the nearby cities, got a Saiga, proceeded to clear about half the town with said semi-automatic shotgun , which I named after my fortress in DF, The Angel of Cheese.

She then proceeded to step on a landmine or 3 and die. Forgot what I named the char, so it’ll take me a while to sort through the 35+ memorial files I have.

I’ve started a new character with 0.9. Loving it so far. The shelter is right next to a forest area, two settled areas very close NW and SW, each with some pretty key buildings visible right off the bat. SW is a public works. They’re veritable gold mines, new characters or not. Already got a bunch of tools/weapons and materials. On the way to it, picking through the few houses, there were a bunch of military corpses. Helmets, pants, kevlar, a rifle, meds, all sorts of shit.

Fucking sussed, mate!

It will probably end badly very soon. Cataclysm, yo. Such a good game.

EDIT: Haha, a house’s basement was full of weed plants. Brilliant. If I leave the seeds will they grow more…??? Not sure how farming works at all.

Naw, you need to manually plant them in tilled dirt. To do so, you need to get a hoe (and something to till the dirt I guess.) and I think you (a)ctivate it, then choose which direction to till the dirt. Once your dirt is tilled, (e)xamine the dirt and you should be capable of planting any seeds you’re carrying. After that, I got nothing. It’s in the middle of winter and I can’t plant anymore.

Living in a barricaded gas station along the open road have 5 driveable vehicles (customized armored truck, homemade motorbike of doom, solar powered car, quad bike, motorcycle with sidecar) and loot from a nearby cleared out town and raid others and stuff mostly cause I get bored (I have 6 turrets in the gas station, have the rumient trait and drink purified rainwater meaning I can live around there for a long, long, long time).

So I started off as a shower victim (I love this profession) with the lowest item spawn rate possible. I recruited the NPC dwelling in the evac shelter, and off we go. This guy I guess his name was Isaac Edwards can really take a beating; we cleared a nearby town without any problems, really useful sidekick.

went in a pawn shop and found a broadsword i went “hell yes!” and took it to now chop up zombies with said broadsword (even though my character is a bashing weapons guy).

So I was dicking around in the debug wish menu, when I found a FLAMING CHUNK OF STEEL +2. It’s descirption was “IT’S ON FIRE OH MY GOD” or something like that.

my shopping cart has run out of batteries. Several times. Also it has no batteries whatsoever and it never had any :stuck_out_tongue:
Day 12, 0.25 loot spawn : i have everything but duct tape.

So I finally started playing Cataclysm again, and made a new Dust Strangelander. I found a basement FILLED with guns, ammo, and gun related tools. Now he’s got an M14 (because the older the gun the cooler it is, according to my logic) and a machete. He also found a bunch of dead scientists and is rocking a lab coat, at least until I find a jean jacket or army jacket.

I think this is the smallest town I’ve ever seen, (and I’m on size 6 cities, which is odd) it only has like… 8 buildings? Very few zombies, and I killed them all without a scratch.
