Does having basements with no entrance stairs included count. Glad I am running with the cataclysm + mod cause there were several basements with ammo and other stuff I could have missed if I didn’t have the scout tool. Took a few hours to dig the stairs and make the ropes though.

What is this “scout tool”?
(Also, it’s almost always faster and easier to find a basement somewhere nearby and jackhammer your way to the one with no entrance rather than make stairs.)

It helps but lately I haven’t been finding anything like that. Also the scout tool is an item from cataclysm + mod that essentially acts as an artifact the reveals the surrounding area but it runs on batteries.
Found an ant nest that intersects with an ice lab. This will clearly turn into the world’s largest meat locker.
Sweet, normally I get sewers or even another lab intersecting the lab I’m in.
BATTERIES?!??!!
I made an artifact for the Arcana mod that maps, but it takes resources MUCH harder to get than batteries (and gives pain and attention when used), and I still thought it might be too awesome… wow, that’s crazy good.
Tell me it at least uses a ton of them per use.
idk. Id be okay with giving a rare item the three tile clairvoyance effect. If it used like plutonium or something. Pain is good, but idk if you can generate enough attention if you dont constantly have it on.

Well it can only carry 100 and it uses all of them per use but it recharges in sunlight (albeit very slowly probably due to most artifacts only usually have like 5 charges or something like that) also it’s like the taser where you can load it with batteries but can’t unload it and can recharge it using the recharging station.
It takes 13 essence to use, which maps the area and gives 3 doses of pain, paralysis, and attention. Also, it hurts your health while you carry it.
100 batteries is SO SO SO much cheaper than that, and being able to recharge it in a car charger makes it essentially free. Crazy good.
Although I should point out that usually this item in the mod is hidden behind a group or monsters that are essentially shocker brutes that can regenerate and then there is a final boss of sorts that is essentially a zombie hulk that is a shocker, regenerates and I think it might also shoot lasers and it explodes on death. Albeit this can probably be bypassed with cloaking, silent walking and the olfactory mask cbm.
Apparently my ring of shattered dreams caught the attention of a yugg while I was crafting something and my vehicle’s pulse lasers essentially destroyed it before I even knew it was there. Oh well.
Well i ran into my first tank drone, forgot I had a dang laptop… but still killed it before it could shoot me haha! Overpowered turrets I guess!? https://imgur.com/a/Lv6Kw
Well, i started in recently claimed my own mansion but it was not easy, i had to drive 30+ zombies into some dogs and a bear.
Zombies are stupid as a rock.
Map reset because I am a dumbass and didn’t shut my computer off properly right after saving and quitting. So my entire basement full of goodies is gone. Oh well time for a new world.
Tired of the early game, going to custom make something interesting.
So if I were to saw down the barrel of a mosin nagant 1891/30 and then give it a folding stock would I have made an obrez?
EDIT:Oops wrong thing.
Nearly killed myself. Day 5, maid start, decided to raid some houses in town at night, with my cool-as-northern-pole compnion (4-5 in piercing and cutting weapons, 2 in all other melee skills and machete). In a forest between my swamp camp and town found a bunch of soldiers, both dead and undead. Dead had “Itaka” (?) shotgun with 12 shells in it, and grenade launcher with 4 shells.
Grabbed shotgun and tried to help my companion to kill zombies. Without any shooting skills. I don’t know how precise it should be, but only four of my shots dealt any damage: three in zombies(20 damage), one in my companion (50 damage >_<). I shooted from one-two tiles. Ugh.
Finally all zombies get killed, we had not much hp left from this and previous fights, but i decided to test launcher on gun store. Come near, noticed shoker brute, decided to shoot at him first. No effect. Shoot again - 45° away from desired flight path. Ok, now shooting in store. Nothing. Shot in other part. Grenade hit a car nearby me. I prepared virtual self for inevitable fiery explosion…
It was FRAG grenade launcher, not bazooka, who knew? xP My left leg is still gone, and i have little hp at torso and other leg.
Zombies wandered to nonexistent sounds of explosions, got killed. Walked back to soldier corpses, get rest of kevlar plates. Couple of zombies walked in, get killed. By this point i have \ hp at torso, and my companion lose his arm. I healed all his infected wounds with my antibiotics, then he chugged 10-15 of his own, because his dumb AI treats them as first aid kits.
Get to camp, falled down to sleep, second leg was broken by frostbite ( emergency blanket was never unpacked and dropped by soldier corpses to free space).
Now questions:
- How much kevlar plates i need to reinforce maid clothing? Is 11 enough for main piece?( I have better armor, but i still want to play as battle maid xD)
- How much protection i will get for it? +6 +6 or more? How with hat(stockings, boots?)
- Is throwing knifes viable weapon? On which throwing level?
All this is just in theory, of course, it’s extremely unlikely that i will get tailor kit and smithy with two broken legs and no skill in first aid.
Oh, and 4. Will my companion get sick (or get risk to get sick) becauss he eaten that much antibiotics at once? - I get strange message, never seen this before: “Your body’s natural defenses surpass the effect of antibodies”
- NPC regenned his arm from broken to |||\ in a day without any help. Do they have cheats on broken limbs regen?
I just started the scenario earlier today and by the grace of RNG; I managed to get both myself and the NPC out alive. The two of us trekked southeast towards a small cluster of houses and I raided the first two. Unfortunately I was sorely lacking in inventory space at the time… So I waited until dusk and then made a mad dash for the nearest grocery store. I was able to find a shopping cart and food, which probably saved my ass. I returned to my companion and set up shop in the house south of where we had last checked. I crafted a crossbow and some bolts, but… I’m not sure what the issue is. I barely so any damage with the bolts, assuming I even hit. I’ve been bashing heads with a baseball bat I found while escaping the school. I boarded up all of the windows and most of the doors. I don’t have a peep hole, so I made a curtain door and surrounded it by spike pits. In the middle of the pits is my 3l glass bottle and a makeshift funnel. I grinded my tailor skill to 3 and made myself better clothes including a trenchcoat. I’m not entirely sure what I should be doing now… This is the farthest I’ve reached. (Day3)
Newbie Questions:
Why does my makeshift crossbow do such awful damage?
What’s the best way to deal with shade zombies?
Where do I find clay?
Do mines work? If so, what are they for? I imagine gathering ore.
What’s the best way to grind a weapon skill and what weapon is arguably the best for beginners?
Sorry for the word vomit xP, I’ve been up all night.
I suppose it does terrible dmg because of your low skill, since you are frequently hitting non vital body parts and/or grazing enemies.
Are shady zombies the ones that turn invisible during the night? I never had a problem with them since I only encountered them around the late game, but I would use hallways and windows to your advantage; in other words funnel them into areas where you know they are going to be and fight from there.
Not entirely sure, but checking near riverbanks would be a good idea (this is based on Minecraft knowledge lol).
Mines are definitely a mid/late-game thing, completely unsuited for a survivor like you as of now. They require quite a bit of preparation, most of which you probably don’t have. Most contain very unique things, but I don’t want to spoil that for you, so steer clear of them. And as for your regard towards gathering ore, if by ore you mean metal, then that is generally done above the surface. Usually when you need metal to craft you strip apart car wreckage or find lying around destroyed cars. Much easier than mining and smelting.
Using cheap ranged weapons like slings or guns with low caliber bullets (such as the .22 Marlin) are good ways to start leveling up marksmanship, for example. The crossbow is not a bad choice (assuming you want to keep leveling it up), but an alternative early game staple that many survivors (such as myself) enjoy is the pneumatic rifle. I think you need a decent amount of parts and at least 6 fabrication and 2 marksmanship to craft it, but the ammo is cheap and plentiful and it is virtually silent, 2 invaluable things for a starting game weapon.
Hope this helped
No ores in this game, mine is a dungeon with some monsters and few interesting things in the end. boss and magic artifacts i hope i picked right color for spoiler xD To get clay, use one of the options in construction while in shallow water(dig up a lump of clay? Make clay mound? Never get to this thing, i just quickly googled). Damn ninjas answer my questions too!
