There is nothing friendly about friendly fire. The number of times I’ve seen NPCs gun each other down by accident…
Finished exploring an ice lab this morning. It had a portal room as the finale. I am very disappointed, it’s not easy surviving in those conditions. Fortunately I found a fully loaded box magazine of 8x40mm caseless ammo in a bunker so I had plenty of rounds for my space guns to deal with the insane encumberance.
Broke both my legs when jumping through fire. Decided it’s a good time to bring my tailoring skills. Also went to an unexplored close by village (with both of my legs in casts) and almost died from a giant rattle snake and zombie moose. However I don’t know what are the odds, but I found exactly what I needed. A gardening store.

That’s why I have them use melee weapons and have my survivor deal with gunfire. They generally worked well up until I got too cocky. I also enjoyed the fact that they’d pulp corpses for me while my survivor checked the loot.
Day 19 … found an armored transport carrier … seems like it’s about time to scrap the Humvee and make the APC my new mobile home, with plenty of stuff to add. Hope I can raise mechanics to 9 by doing that. But first of all: need to make a vehicle based welder, to use the 4 storage batteries that are in the Humvee.
Found a swamp hotel at the end of a roadway. I need to make a proper The Shining Hotel at the end of them …
While there, I saw a swamp. good times were had between the zeds and the swampies. An npc with a pot for a weapon can by. I blew both his arms off for his impertinence in demanding I drop my weapon while butchering a critter.
A biter zed took off most of my own arm a while ago, and it took 2 days to heal up. A day 01 slavering biter … …
Discovered that normal rocks count as a heavy projectile, usable on the slingshot cannon.
In terms of stats, the rock has only 15 damage over the lead ball’s 50 damage, and some dispersion. Due to my survivor’s marksmanship skill (17 at this point), and a level 7 in launchers, the rocks still can do up to 200 damage. Less likely from far away, but about 20-30 tiles or less it’s reliable.
Rocks, as an ammo, is rather OP. 'course, at less than 30 tiles away and with several zombies running toward the survivor, you only get a few shots before they get close.
Anyway, is there any way to find out if there are other items that can be used on the slingshot cannon? The category of the ammo is heavy projectile, and I’m curious if there’s other stuff that can be used.
So glad I trained up computers so I could safely get the computer to open the police stations armory/evidence rooms. The bandages and throwing knives were just what I wasn’t looking for.
While waiting fir his right leg recovering, Libash Melvindale grinded his tailoring & fabrication to 7, booklessly!
You can make full set of smithing & welding tools from tree, rock, shrub, and metal junk. Welding goggle is still an exception, but the firefighter mask from firefighter Z is common and can substitute.
Benji, is spending most of his time farming and slowly clearing out the town. It’s autumn and this is probably going to be our last harvest this year. Meanwhile he’s clearing out the nearby town and probably by the next Summer we will have it fully cleared. He started making trips into nearby cities once in a while. We also have 100 biscuits that he made by mistake that will probably rot (any idea if there is a way to save them?).
