So far, got enough bags of concrete for about… three walls of reinforced concrete. Seeing as I’ll need at least 100-150 bags for a base, this is gonna take a loooooooong time.
Dear thread, today I learned that if you hit a shoggoth hard enough, they spray pools of acid.
How did I found out about this? Well, I decided to try using a chainsaw lajatang for the first time and combine it with ninjutsu.
Note: This was done WITHOUT the hydraulic muscles. Now I kinda wanna try testing it out on town. It’s attack is twice the base move cost, but with that kind of damage it wouldn’t matter if you go about fighting tactically, I suppose.
(tried it on hulks; damage without muscles can go as high as 900, but while pools of blood fill the floor, they don’t explode into chunks of meat)
Current game is progressing well. Got the baseworks started up (just need a FOODCO Buddy and a minifridge to have the interior crafting parts complete).
And finally encountered Thriller for the first time.
I’m not sure how to deal with this. I’m guessing a vehicle and lots of explosives and fire are going to be involved.
Well, Dwarf Fortress has eaten my time for now. ;w;

Lots of explosives. Just be prepared to leg it after you kill the Thriller.
New game version out? Holy crap it is. Daaaaaaaang. I’ll wait it out for a bit before sinking my teeth into DF again. Oh gods.
Day 20. Finally, soil is warm enough for farming. Planting is easy with the seed drills, but I gotta manually apply the fertilizer on all of the 288 farm plots, which is somewhat tiring.
Planning out a horde fighting challenge. Little to no armor; basically no torso protection, some head protection at the very least, heavy survivor helmet and light survivor mask. Bionics used. Lots of booze and the chainsaw lajatang. No retreat.
Welp.
Strikes the earth
No, pierce the heavens!
Anyway,
Just shot a giant wasp at 50 mph, blew out the window by accident. God dangit, there are no cars on this barren road.
Seeing the damage output of the chainsaw lajatang, now I’m wondering if that can kill a zombie dancer if I combine it with time dilation.
Tested it. It’s possible to kill it with time dilation before regen kicks in, but only barely. In general, it’s easier to use the rising sun or a nodachi with niten for most situations, as it’s less costly on moves, but the chainsaw lajatang is fun in it’s own way. While it hits hard, it pretty much leaves you open for a while, so you’d have to be smart and not rush in a large crowd. It’s a big stamina drain as well, but dat crit. Aside from the dancers, and NPCs due to multiple body parts, anything will die in one shot from a crit.
Also, damage doesn’t seem to change even with the use of hydraulic muscles.
Day 51 of spring.
Farming secubots and manhacks when I fail this terminal to open the bionic chamber. Electrohack doesn’t do crap to help me. Can’t use jackhammer on the glass, can’t slice it open with the torch, and unable to saw it open with hacksaw. Can’t find the stairs down. I’m not going to every piece of furniture to drag it over to see if it has a stair underneath. Maybe the military outpost I missed has c4?
Is the bionic chamber the common one or the bottom level ones? If it’s the former and you have the jackhammer, and I’m assuming it’s the former since you say that there’s still a floor down, you can always jackhammer the wall instead to open up the chamber for bionics.
Unless the bionic chamber is the bottom floor room, where the entire thing is surrounded by glass. If it is, there’s no floor down anymore as that’s the bottom of the lab. If it’s not, you can always get a clue on where to find the stairs down by the map tile. Lab map tiles that have a stairs down is a darker shade of blue.
Common one. I guess that this lab doesn’t have more floors… Bummer… But there’s another lab righhhtt over there!
But if it’s just a common one, you can jackhammer the wall beside the glass door.
No you can’t…
But c4 works.
Unless there’s the recent experimentals have changed things, you absolutely can. Any wall in the lab can be jackhammered, aside from the glass walls.
You sure it’s a common room? One table of bionics, surrounded by concrete walls and one glass door?
It was a 2x2 table. Oh wait, I guess it was the rare one because there were secubots guarding it. Whoops.
Yep, that’s the bottom floor one. No more floors below that. Use explosives (may be risky as explosions can damage/destroy items), or use the sonic resonator CBM if you have it - they can be found sometimes on mines.
On day 4.
Since I learned that the primary skill of soldering is mechanics I managed to find an elctronics store and walk out with 1500 batteries. I spent day 1 in shoring up my sewing. I spent night 1 getting throttled by zombies. You know, I swear they fixed the absolutely awful horde problems only to make individual zombies so powerful they can strip you naked :v I lost my pants and all my heat, and my legs were frozen to the point of colons. I did have a down blanket I keep in my car for just that kind of emergency, so Im fine, but it was tight.
I found 4 guns in a mansion, and an elctric forge in a jewelry store. Ive been collecting sheets from windows, and now Ive gotten my mechanics to level 1. If I can get it to 3 Im good, and I technically have the batteries to. Gonna try to play with some CBMs, something else I generally neglect. Definately more of a biological man. And still remember getting all kinds of screwed up with CBMs learning how to play.
Its day 4. I wouldnt call myself wildly successful, nor having traveled far, partly because it also seems my car gets wrecked by zombies much easier and Im terrified of losing the car because of the hordes of the last few rounds.
Hopefully I can get my steel spear up and finally have a dedicated weapon. Well, as dedicated as a spear can be since it gets stuck in everyhting. :o

What do you have that secubots are “farmable”? I’ve found them to be quite annoying.
Also, a reinforced sledge hammer and decent strength can bash open the glass. Even a reinforced homewrecker can do it - I think 14 strength is enough with that.
I will ignore all the news about a new version of Dwarf Fortress. My actual life needs at least a couple of hours of my time every day, and a new version of Dwarf Fortress wouldn’t leave that much…
