What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Day 27.
I’d discovered firsthand that I need BOTH a wrench and a hacksaw now to do any sort of vehicle stuff, so I took my LOOT cart and went scouting. I picked up the remaining stuff from the crates I’d located within the first week (hello, Rivtech gun and ammo!) and reached the gas station further on. In front of the station, a drivable armored car and a nearly as drivable RV. Both low on fuel.

I went back to where I remembered I saw a jerrycan, used the diesel pump and left the jerrycan by the car. Then I went to the farm along the way to sleep.

I only got back to my shelter the next day. Sorted out the loot. I guess I’ll go sewer-diving now, since I f*cking need that hacksaw.

i spent two fing days making salt from swamp water ffs.

:open_mouth:

For most part, I prefer just using the salt water for crafting, at the very least if I have a stable base and enough containers.

Albino penguins in the sewers, huh. That’s new. Now I got hopefully a steady supply of fat.

Hmm hmm hmm. Sewer and subway system of the town is connected to a city, with loads of houses for potential tunnel looting. On the other hand, there’s two freaking slime pits, one on the north end and the other on the south edge of the map.

No point in rifle ammo getting wasted on them, it’s time to bring out the laser rifle. I don’t have any flamethrowers beyond simple ones, so I suppose I shall bring out the fusion rifle as well to scorch the damn place.

Upon checking, there’s three slime pits in total… four if I count one that’s a little beyond the outskirts of town. All of them will BURN.

Day 27.
Got back to the teeny town. Slaughtered some Zs. They drop: a hacksaw! A wrench! Some more assorted stuff. The hardware shop had a scythe and duct tape. Guess what will be coming come morning?
Heard suspicious noises in vicinity of hotel, marked spot on the map - to avoid.

EDIT: East of town: a farm and a radio tower. And a FBI car with a Glock and some ammo in the seat.

ETA: Postponed sewer diving, back at shelter.
Wow that sounds awesome I would have loved to have seen that :frowning:

Wish ya recorded it :(
Inspired by the hilarious events I find myself involved in whenever I play this game, I’ve taken to using Raptr to record my gameplay and I’m cutting out especially funny, dumb or plain lucky segments for a compilation. So while you won’t see that, I promise you’ll get something even better instead! I love pushing this game to the limits.

Haha thats awesome news

cant wait to see it

Spring Day 11, an NPC I’ve been travelling with since Day 1 has died on a couch in the house we’re bunkering down in. Have recruited two more companions along the way, but it’s still a tough blow because we had some intense memories…and some good times, like when I drove a Volkswagen Bug through an abandoned storefront and it set the whole place on fire.

She had crack on her, so I’m going to assume it was an overdose. Will bury her in the back yard.

…on second thought, I DID just find this book, To Serve Man…

So, I jacked up my maximum amount of trait points to 36, started up a new world…

This is gonna hurt.

Would there be a relatively simple way to make only hulks, brutes and huge boomers spawn via a mod? I want to make some challenge saves to mix things up, like starting in the middle of a massive (size 10+) city with item spawns at 0.2x and only left4dead themed monsters (zeds, boomers, smokers, hulks and grabbers). A few I even want to use debug mode to set up specific scenarios or conditions to spice the game up some, but ultimately I’ll need to make a mod that makes the nescessary changes, and I’m not sure how to do that.

I was in my first night, and got out of the car because the area was vacant. Two steps towards the house suddenly horde. I really hate the way the game spawns critters. They spawn on any ground, even grass/dirt inside of buildings/cars, they spawn in plain sight, and . . . well, just look at what spawned out of nowhere.

Well, I blundered over to a farm after fistifying a jabberwock for the starter NPC. Not much of use to a carnivore, but the moonshine might prove useful. So many bionics to get rid of. ;w;

Started a new game after failing miserably with my last character and I’m off to an interesting start. There’s no city in sight but I recruited the shelter NPC. He doesn’t appear to be armed with anything and seems almost invincible, killing roughly fifteen or twenty zombies while taking very little damage. I’m not sure how that even makes sense but he’s been a huge help. I eventually left the shelter and came across this:

Two mansions right across from each other. The one on the right has already been cleared out, currently working on the other one. I found a petrified eye in one of the rooms a little while ago and I’m not quite sure what it’s for. Never seen one before but I guess it’s one of those artifacts, maybe? Didn’t know they spawned in mansions. Either way, weird start. There’s really no telling where this is going to go ahah.

Not quite an artifact, actually.

Used to unlock the entrance to strange temples, which have an artifact as a prize.

EDIT: Found a mall after leaving the farm. I’m feeling like a killing machine, and maybe I’ll find some much-need medkits, so…fuck it. Chaaaaarge!

EDIT 2: Got in, found a couple medkits, got out. Removed Acidic Discharge and Wire-Induced Stiffness. Not bad for the 30-odd zombies killed during that.

EDIT 3: …advanded submachine gun? What the fuck, I accidentally turned on generic guns. Bleh.

EDIT 4: Can’t wear a diver’s watch over webbed hands. Damnit, and I thought that update that made watches actually cover a body part was a good idea. ;w;

Well, a brute came along, one-shotted my partner and took me out as I was trying to lose it in the mansion. Totally underestimated them.

Not quite an artifact, actually.

Used to unlock the entrance to strange temples, which have an artifact as a prize.

Ah, thanks. I normally check the wiki when I come across this stuff but it’s broken apparently.

Well. Had a good, but quick run. I got cocky. Night was falling, the horde was following me out the back lot, figured I could back out into the woods and leave a trail of bodies in my wake.

A wild adventure that I tried to type in here lead to a certain Raul dying in an armored car while I tried to raid a bank for his quest. I come back to see a feral predator, kill it WAAY later (a year later) and notice one thing.
His clothes was in one pile.
The feral predator had no clothes or loot on it.
There were no zombies really around the area before.

I ask you this, can NPCs zombify?
Because if so I might need to bury this guy.

EDIT: Is it also possible to increase tentacle damage? Increasing unarmed, perhaps? Otherwise my tentacles do 1 damage to most tough monsters.

Well, this time I’m starting up a “seeker of the arcane” start to test that a tad more, as a blood mage. Bit of dehydration due to lack of a fire drill or lighter, cause I can’t drink toilet water without.

And to think, I could’ve avoided that if I were to man up, bleed a little, and craft some blood essence to get my revenant crown running.

Hrmmm, for most part it seems that it’s just as effective to use the mini-flamethrower three times to get a raging fire going, and afterwards just let the fire do its thing, though the fusion gun is effective at wiping out small blobs since they’re all clustered together.

Wondering now if I can stop blob spawn by just eliminating a certain depth instead of going all the way down. It’s just the first slime pit, three levels down, and there’s two more separate pits to go and this is just utter tedium.
