What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

magical things…

My longest-lived character to date (about a week) just developed near-sighted in a hostile town on the edge of my explored territory. I don’t even remember the last time I saw any eyeglasses.
My longest-lived character to date (about a week) just developed near-sighted in a hostile town on the edge of my explored territory. I don’t even remember the last time I saw any eyeglasses.
That sucks man XD Good luck!

And part 2 of Elijah Bennett still about a month behind where my character actually is.Ii might write more over the weekend.

I reach the gun store and no 9mm ammo for my MP5, I wander around town looting stores I find a lawn mower in a hardware store and decide to remove the blades from it and bring it back to the shelter where I can make a better makeshift weapon with it I also find a few rolls of duct tape, perfect for making and repairing makeshift equipment, I loot a pharmacy for medical supplies what little there was, only a couple of bandages and flu medicine, no painkillers or first aid kits for dealing with more serious injuries, I dispatch a couple of zombies with my last few bolts on my way to a grocery store to stock up on tinned foods. One of the zombies was crackling with electricity and even seemed to project large concentrations of it’s electricity towards me a I decide to start butchering Zombies in order to investigate any differences ‘under the hood’ between a regular ‘shambler’ as I call them and this new varient ‘bolters’ as I call them I cut it up, thankfully I was still wearing rubber gloves to protect from the electricity still sparking over it’s body. I discover a bunch of bionics in it most damged and producing large amount’s of electricity. Is this what causes this mutation on shamblers? A man who when alive had a few bionic upgrades installed and got severely damaged then upon death the ‘XE037’ causes the body to adpat to the large amounts of electricity comming from the busted bionics?

I get caught up in my disections that I almost forgot my reasons for comming back to this place, supplies, not just of the food kind I rummage around a few houses for whatever supplies I could find it seemed liked the owners left and weren’t going to be coming back at least any time soon, I find a flashlight, some batteries a sewing kit and a radio. Leaving a house I nearly get over ran with zombies breaking in no way they could have seen me, they must be tracking my scent as I haven’t had the chance to wash recently. I manage to lose them by going into a room slamming the door shut, opening a window jumping out the window shutting it behind me and then RSLG’ing to the shelter for some rest and to begin building up a stockpile of useful stuff.

I grab a large heavy looking stick in the woods and bring it back, I cut a groove to hold the lawnmower blade and duct tape around it to secure it making a make shift halberd. I explore a little to the north and keep getting harassed by the local wild life I find a group of dead scientists, upon closer investigation I recognised some of them, they were a part of the genetics department of my lab, I knew some of them but not that well, on them was messy hand written notes describing everything they were trying to do to find a way to contain the ‘XE037’ or find a way to reverse the effects and the results of the experiments, obviously field notes. I guess they weren’t successful in their task. I figure there’s bound to be some useful supplies in the lab like hotplates, clean water and possibly other high tech stuff; however I used my single-use ID card shutting the doors when I escaped so I ‘borrow’ some ID cards from the dead scientists, they won’t require them anymore…

i’m currently enjoying my time with one of the better characters i have ever seen, and while no, i still cannot beat the king of speed up a few posts above me, i can say that im using my 4th best character right now, and he is still alive, so i feel the need to put up my top 10 list of characters with their ages, if they died, the way they died, and do note that i have not to this date begun using V.4 , i prefer to use up the life force of my remaining 3 titons that exist on V.3 before i move onto the new patch, but when i do, im sure i will enjoy the changes, and will await for V.5 with great suspence.

The Wanderer- Age- Day 126 - Play time, HOW SHOULD I KNOW its patch 2.0 … about that long ago… All of his skills in every area are over 10, for fun i went into a town and burnt down every building and killed the 150 zombies that were there and had fun taking a nap while a hulk stood on my head, then i sent him away with a single punch from my talloned hand
Blitzcrieg- Age- Day 2- Play time, 64 minutes. Death- fought for 35 minutes after being surrounded by what looked to be over 200 zombies, i had a large surplus of first aid and bandages and i healed myself as i fought the mob while drinking smoking and eating stims. the zombie hoard fought valiently as they broke both of his arms and caused many bite wounds, but Blitz fought back with molatov’s, pipebombs, and many other weapons he got from a military bunker, he made multiple stands against this hoard and fought very well and acumulated over 200 kills in his first day alone, including 5 Hulks. His death came with my own personal rage quit, something i never do, after entering a science lab, to which i prefer to make tempory residence in from time to time, i planted down 3 auto turrents, not realizing it was acid rain, and the second i placed down the 3rd one, it the first exploded, my speed went down to 15, and the other two also went off, and i was unable to get back to the lab before the acid rain melted Blitz into slag.

Zonrada The Swordsmen- Age- 16 days- Death Zonrada was an interesting character, i had intended him to be a throw away one because i had accidentally created a random character, but after a entire day in a Toxic dump, he became more appealing to me, as he developed incredible stats that i liked, while i cant say that i remember them as this was some time ago, i can say that he was very nice, with multiple traits that allowed him to tear zombies to bits. His death i’m afraid to say was anticlimatic as i grew annoyed that he developed extreme radioactive and developed 0 for all of his traits, making him useless to me, and i had no intention to rummage around to find enough purifiers to clean his genetics enough to save him, so i went into the middle of a town, and blew up a gas station, and fought dozons of zombies untill Zonrada finaly had a fist fight with 2 hulks, oddly enough… he won the first fight.

Bladeripper the Killah- Age- 51 days- BladeRipper was a down and dirty sort of character, he was the first character i had ever used that used a car, note that i have the auto reset for my worlds, so if a character dies, the world goes, so i use multiple file sets, each with its own special character, however, this guy was the reason i started this process, i was doing a test with some of the new construction options with a character i poored points into building skills, and when i was done i suicided him, however, along with this guy, went Bladeripper. Sad truthes and anger ensued and i didnot play cataclysm for a month after this tragity.

Everyone has all ready heard Zulululu’s tale

the only other two that are really all that interesting are two random characters that i had accidentally made and have proven to be great characters, happens to be my luck that everytime that i dont intend to make a random character, and i mean everytime, he survives for a long time and makes my top 10, the only two characters of mine that have survived week one is The wanderer and my living character greg, everyother character you see on this list were randoms that i accidentaly grabed when trying to select one of my presets.

The Soldier- Age- 20 days- Death, went into a science lab to find some wierd creatures while he was not in the best of conditions after running a marathon in acid rain. Needless to say, this old fighter put up quite the fight before he went down.

-Sorry, i know i said i would put up my list of the top 10, but as of right now, it has gotten late and as the people who also put up larger posts know, it takes alot more time to put one of this big things up, so stay tuned when i find some free time for you all.

Thanks.

I ended up aggroing a bunch of zombies and fled town. I walked for ages along the road, having to check each side carefully to see if there was somewhere to stop. That got boring really quickly, so I just kept going straight along the road and ended up at a science lab. After some bad mutagen and turret-inflicted injuries I eventually found some purifier, which managed to cure the near-sightedness.

While backtracking I found a mansion along the road that I couldn’t see in my previous blind panic. I made it a base for a while, developed some useful skills and became highly efficient at hunting for food. Unfortunately I was murdered by a bear in the library. Dang housebears.

R.I.P. Brody!

got my archery to 5 by day 4. my shelter was between two towns. went to one and got some good stuff. went south and hit a zombie brute. game over.

could easily take down zombie cops with headshots. but brutes no chance. I need a rifle for that.

Well today my #4 rank character to which has been an incredible adventure, has just encountered a creature portal and i believe has been cursed by it, i fear it will not be long now untill i write about his life in my top 10 post, shame, but he is getting covered by ecto every 50 ticks and i fear the next stage of the ‘curse’ will happen soon

I wanted to do some exploring so I went into the sewers, going along one of the rivers of sewage before turning around so I wouldn’t waste my single flashlight. I killed a few sewer fish, then kept going until I came across a rift of magma and turned around. On my way back though, apparently every single fish in the sewer had showed up to keep me from getting back. I lost all the clothing on my torso and was on the verge of dying down there, so I wound up throwing the bones of dead rats and snakes at the fish, then the meat, as I burnt my javelin to light up what I was doing.

It is the 8th day of Autumn and my current character has outlasted all my others by two whole seasons. At some point on his journey he spontaneously developed tentacle arms and then 4 tentacles. I spent some time learning the skills and gathering the resources necessary to brew my own purifier. The only sample I’ve seen is in the middle of a bunch of traps in the centre of town, which I haven’t been able to clear yet. What next for the now genetically healthy Logan Mitchell? I’d like to clear the town and make an uber fortress, but it might be better to train my skills a bit more.
I’m still on 0.3 and I just had to share this. I’m doing ok. I fixed up a motorcycle chassis and then found a car. I have access to a gas station. I have all the major skills down and I have a good amount of ammo for my 9mm pistol. Somehow, I have no idea how exactly, I was exposed to some radiation. This caused me to get the mutation, irradiated. Things just kinda went from there.
I didn’t have any purifiers to get rid of it. And slowly over time it just got worse and worse till…

I think I’ve seen enough hentai to know where this is going.

Bears can suck my horns. And my laser blaster. And my Calico. And my bear traps. And my emercency burned down house to slowly kill every fucker. And the house I just ignited. And my Warm Rock. And my molotovs.

Shit, he 1-hit killed me. Fuck this game. Back to TF2

Ah, another Bear Quit.

Some characters ago I killed one of them around my provisional house. The next day more started to roam the area.

Soon I noticed they were systemically and deliberately running around the house. For days. Whenever I moved inside, they followed me outside. All I was able to do was wait inside doing nothing. Yes, I was sieged by bears.

I finally decided to try my luck and make a escape before dying of thirst or starvation. I waited until I found a moment when they seemed to be somewhere else.

Turns out they were just waiting around the corner.

It didn’t take long for them to catch my starved char and maul him to death.
Yes, shocker.

Thank the flying spaghetti monster we don’t have air vents in CataDDA. We wouldn’t be safe ANYWHERE.

That’s strange captain, the ship’s distress beacon is active but there’s nobody inside. Not even any bodies…just blood everywhere.

Entering the bridge now… more of the same. Ensign Ricky, check the computer, see if there’s anything in the logs…wait did you hear that? Sound like it came from the vent… roar plasma rifle fire screams Oh god! It’s space bears! Space bears! Abort mission, abort mission! Get back to the shuttle! Augh!!! It’s chewing on my pancreas!

Wait…Wrong Genre…

DAMN BEARS!

I changed my spawn so I could spawn at 6am, and ran to town after smashing a locker for a pipe, and found two garages, a bar, a liquor store, two parking lots, a gun shop, many clothing stores, two mil. surplus and a park next to each other.

My drunken-hillbilly-rifle-wielding-gun-toting-fire-throwing dreams are finally coming true.

I just fired a Law at a smoker zombie cloud. From the lack of an explosion I missed the zombie. But I wonder where the rocket went…

checks the map, sees a gas station in the direction the rocket went

…I’m sure it will turn up somewhere…

I stepped out of my starting shelter, into a squad of dead soldiers. Sometimes the game does not even bother faking difficulty.

How come people keep going nuts about bears? They’re not THAT tough.

I’ll just leave this here: “The thousand-bear stare. A survivor gets it after he’s been in the shit for too long. It’s like… It’s like you’re really seeing beyond. I got it. All survivors got it. And you’ll have it too.”

On other news, the mexican-american action hero Jose Lee has been karate-chopping half a town. He’s finishing exploring the mansion of a crazy billionaire that decided to built his luxurious home in the middle of a street. He’s right now over-encumbered with stuff that’s “absolutely and totally necessary and that must be carried all at once in a single journey back to base”. There’s nothing that can go wrong. I’ve never lost dozens of survivors due to greediness and overconfidence, despite what you might have heard. I’m quite positive he’ll live long and prosper.
