What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

From an IRL perspective, they are used primarly on military vehicles, so that if someone shoots your fuel tank, the burning fuel ends up on the outside of your fireproof vehicle, rather than on the inside, where you are.

In game, having them stick out like that on the sides is terribad.

What about armored gas tanks? Just strap some two-by-fours to those darn things and call it a day.

Yes, because some 2x4s will keep a gas tank from rupturing.

Zombie horde is happening. I just cannot catch a break. I keep on driving away in my Humvee, but they always catch up in a matter of hours. I have plenty of fuel left and refueling is not a problem.

The problems.

[ol][li]My skills suck. I cannot practice melee combat against a reasonable number of opponents or read my stash of books.[/li]
[li]There is no time to hunt for food. While I have quite a stash of non-perishables, I would rather keep them for a rainy day. The problem is further compounded by lack of survival skill so my butchering is usually waste of time if I even get to do it.[/li]
[li]I require skills, spare parts, time and tools to keep my Humvee in one piece.[/li][/ol]

Why does it use “They” for rings? Shouldn’t it be “It is the only one of its kind.”?

That’s beautiful, Blaze.

Turrets.

I’ve been using a single turret and some walls to defend my base against wandering hordes and zombears and such, most of my time (several months worth) after acquiring enhanced memory banks has been spent training my cutting and melee skills, using my diamond katana I can slice apart almost anything in a single blow.

I recently acquired a scabbard, which is actually quite useful, as I can sheathe my weapon in a fraction of a turn, and pull it back out very quickly (I move barrels and such around in combat quite a lot), but apparently you can also perform an attack while drawing your sword out (What was that called again?)

I learned this by accidentally cleaving apart my turret instantly after I’d come back from a looting run, naturally it exploded directly in my face and just about killed me.
The explosion attracted a pack of zolfs, several zombears, and a mi-go, I think I’m going to just leave this base to them and go somewhere else…

Iaido? How do you do that in game though?

Iaijutsu, You need high cutting skill I think 6+ to have a chance of doing it and consistently at 12+, activate the scabbard with your sword with an enemy beside you and if it’s successful you pick the direction to attack in.

How do you get scabbards? I want one so bad.

Also, what will fit in the scabbard?

You make them from a recipe in the armorsmithing book I think. Some leather and 2x4s. Most swords fit in a scabbard and some other things, I think golf clubs, umbrellas.

GAAAAHHHHH WHY THE BOOOOOK

Thanks Cacon.

Finally broke the spider threshold. I’m also working on rebuilding my superstructure vehicle. The design will be slightly smarter this time around, and built for a house rather than for the road. As a result, it will also be bigger.

Found a book detailing the schematics for an upgraded solar panel. I’ll be replacing my solar arrays with upgraded panels.

With winter coming in 60 days, I made a winter survivor suit. The name alone just speaks of awesome in my mind’s eye.

I was minding my own business, going through the mansion library, munching on overly curious wildlife and generally being awesome. Then flu happens. Now I have spent several days barely keeping myself hydrated and fed, constantly tired or worse.

I have learned my lesson. Always prepare for biological warfare. That is, wear the gasmask.

With 8 str, flu is murder.

But once I am done with these books, making nice survivor gear is just a matter of raw materials.

well recently on one of the experimental builds i had a strange thing happen, zombie hoards that seem to have spawned or something of the sorts have been marked on the map with a big Z replacing whatever should’ve been there, killed some of the zombies (slow zombies enabled!) and the walked off with a new, nearly unmarked, rain coat… then died to a jabberwock :stuck_out_tongue:

Try out the nighty build and I’m having great fun with the new starting location (for now only one starting but it’s random). The first house I spawned in have fricking giant wasps in the bathroom! This gonna be fun.

P.S. Feature request: Please add more staring locations.

I’ve been driving around in my mobile fortress thing, and have come across multiple fungaloid and triffid infestations. The odd thing is, they’re right next to each other. I want to find out what would happen if triffids and fungaloids ran into each other in large numbers, but whenever I get nearby, they’re more interested in me than each other. I think it’d be interesting if they had little turf wars. For now though, I’m just containing triffids by plugging up the exit/entrance to the triffid grove. Fungaloids I don’t think I can contain with walls, because of spores.

(If you’re thinking I should just kill them… I’m enjoying the free source of dehydrated veggies too much!)
