What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?
Do you know what 26000 pounds of tank looks like?

I get this nasty feeling that I can’t build and use anything like this with tiles activated. Am I right? It would be too big for the screen I fear.

Scabbards for swords are the best thing to be added ever.

Did the game turn into an anime while I wasn’t looking?

Meh. Could be worse.

My golf club had better not start glimmering magnificently in the sunlight.

Only diamond weapons will glimmer magnificently.

Other weapons will only glimmer as much as yo imagine them glimmering in the sunlight.

Achievement Unlocked.

You monster.

Been living in that lab to the left, but I’m thinking now is a good time to move.

Update: I tried burning down the fungal bloom, and ended up going down with it. Oh well.

I see your 666 and raise you, over 9000!
I actually save edited this, actual power level on this char is about 400.

Found a APC in a city and there are mirrors on it. After some emergency duck taping I got it running and damn those mirrors are useful. Then my left side mirror hits a zombie and breaks. I stop the APC and remove the right side mirror so I won’t lose it either when trying to leave this city and suddenly driving becomes a lot harder. I’m almost out of the city when suddenly the engine stops and the APC is on fire.

Note to self: Next time take the dangling bits off before trying to drive through a city.

My first game with 0.A experimental, had my best start ever. Crashed military helicopter or whatever right outside with a full set of combat gear. A mansion not too far away stocked with books (but no pool or bathroom, so no water source) and a cabin in the woods up north of me. On the way to the mansion I run into 2 crates in the middle of a field, one full of MREs and water.

Fast forward a bit, day 16’ish. Think I’ve got ~3-6 in most my skills now and decide to venture into town. I find a car in a parking lot that only needs gas, and a gas station nearby. Run a gallon of gas to the car to get it rolling, then fill it at the pumps. Drive to the evac shelter to fill up the car with my horded goods I’d stockpiled.

Wake up to banging noises, a zom-animal was inside my car for some reason. I think it was a dog. Open the door to go out and kill it, and the new horde mechanic had heard the banging animal and came to me. There was like … zomg so many of all kinds of zombies. I had zero defenses built because I was just sleeping in the shelter for the night then planning to move on.

I basically lit the nearest 3 bushes on fire, and bush-kited the horde through it over and over, hoping they’d stop coming, but every so often one of the horde was a shrieker and it’d summon another wave. I finally left when nightfall came and I could actually avoid some of the zombies, in my car that now has no windshield and only 3 wheels left (yet it still says I have “enough” wheels).

I moved to a new shelter, slept the night, and woke up to the entire horde outside again to start the process over. I’m in a Cathedral outside of town and whenever I open the door there is an army of z’s outside that never end, in basically every direction. They can’t kill me, but I can’t kill all of them, they just keep spawning. So this game (if I keep playing it) will just turn into me constantly relocating with what I can carry (they destroyed my car parked outside by getting stuck on it while trying to get to me) forever.

Heh, don’t play with hordes but I got a common cold now. Luckily I’ve got a ton of shit at my base, but can’t find the last part for a light generator.

THAT’S WHAT. MOTHEReFing SPIDERS. I saw some stairs in a house and since they’re always good for your stash, I immediately climbed down there, armed in nothing more, than a makeshift crowbar. Got attacked by a huge spider. Ran away, lost it. Came back, opened the door and…

At first I was :< and actually felt icky, but then I

Aren’t those basements lovely?

They have a good chance of having special loot inside them, you pretty much deserve it after killing all those spiders in an enclosed basement.

Dynamic spawn definitely needs some fine tuning. I turned off hordes in my current world but left DS on. Found an APC in relatively good condition, fueled it, scrapped a solar car and a luxury RV for parts and was searching for a base. I drove into the middle of the woods, passing a random zombie or two on the way. Drove to a missile silo with two armored cars on near it (yay, more parts!) Figured I’d walk back and clear the road, then move into the bunker to the north. however…

And here’s the location.
Doesn’t make sense for such massive spawns to happen in the middle of the woods.

Is that how hordes are implemented? I tired of dynamic spawn ages ago, I’m certainly not interested in a dynamic spawn pool following me around everywhere I go.

In Cataclysm, the ride never ends. Not even in the woods.

That’s with just dynamic spawns enabled, not hordes. I tried an experiment, namely to see if they will ever stop coming. Killed all I could until nightfall, then retreated and spent the night in the apc, about 7-8 map tiles from that pile of corpses shown earlier. Sure enough, I was woken up by zeds smashing the APC, about five of them. Killed them, and found the woods were STILL crawling with zeds. This is after killing around 200 already.

I think I’ll stay away from dynamic spawn since it appears to be pretty broken right now.

That’s absurd. I never had zombies spawning in the middle of nowhere back when I used to play on dynamic.
