What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Start a new game, walk out of shelter, see four scientist zeds and two Mi Gois on one side, and two scientist zeds, a mi goi, and two kreks on the other side.

“Are you sure you want to commit suicide? y/n?”

Happened to me too! Has anyone else been pestered while reading by non-existent spiders that are “dangerously close!”
Let the record show that there were no complaints about how all the scicorpses made EkarusRyndren’s start “too easy” or gave him “free loot”. Adding the nethercritters appears to have succeeded at that aspect.
No, too easy man. I got out the door of the shelter before dying. Needs buffed.

Agreed, there should be a 75% chane of every evac shelter containing a flesh angel inside those empty lockers, so when you smash them for pipes you are in for one very nasty surprise.

Too Easy, needs tankbots. Lots of tankbots. And lab turrets.

getting back on track, I’m noticing a ton of mobile meth labs and APCs, can anyone explain why the rate is so high? I don’t remember implementing them that high.

Used up all my arrows so spent one evening chasing after a turkey and now loitered around a wreck making arrowheads.

Time to head back to the city proper to fight my way to the library.

Also, digging the colored notes so much!

Lucky you, I am still looking for a rara-x, and I have been looking for it for a long time now (perhaps making it spawn only in parking lots was not such a hot idea). It better be worthwhile when I finally find it.

Well, I’ve always envisioned it as an A3, but I always envision the most badass/cool looking stuff for my chars.
Ok, I’ve personally always imagined it as an F88 Austeyr or an AUG A2, but now that i’ve looked up some more images of the A3, that one kinda fits well.

ANYWAY, labs, nothing like -100 degree Fahrenheit temperatures to make sure that your survivor has to rest for 12 hours to get rid of frostbite!

i play a few individual short games every day or so, i love cata… i wish i had the attention span and patience to last more than a few days, or the perseverance to not use debug when ive been seemingly check mated lol… is it way too easy to sneak into anthills and steal all their food, or did i just happen to spawn a relatively empty map for some reason? all this time and theres so much food down there??? also are water pumps like the ones on the farms working indefinitely? once again 0.A is a great release its really the smoothness and polishing the bugs out that makes it shine

My troglobyte survivor lasted for 62 days. I had a hideout, a gas station on the side of a road which cut through a thick and large forest. I had a pretty nice setup. Then my character started smoking meth, and buoyed with enhanced strength and intelligence (maybe not) I decided to go walk to town and go on a rampage. I burned down empty houses, shot dozens of zombies and Molotov incinerated a wasp nest house. I then went to a house to sleep in the bathroom. I woke up to find a zombie trying to bite me. I blew his head off with my sawn-off shotgun. But there was more. It seemed like dozens of zombies just kept coming, and I was killed by a huge horde of the living dead.
It was pretty awesome and okay.
My next character is going to be a plant mutations man.
And no crystal meth this time.

i constructed a map of my home area :stuck_out_tongue:

Was playing around a bit with vehicles and power systems. I found out that using the smallest engine I could find (0.39L 1-Cylinder) and equipping it with a truck alternator and then leaving it idle, I could turn 100 units of gasoline into 5,000+ units of battery. That’s far more effective than just straight up using gasoline.

I also found out I could eat Dynamite with the internal furnace.

Made it to day 14 on spawn rate 50. It was a pretty cool story and really satisfying. I’m pretty much back to loving this game.

Paralysis is totally OP though. It nearly instant killed me so many times. It was pretty much the main thing that was a real danger after a few days in. I was pretty powerful and could just smack down zombie hulks at this point. But being frozen for a number of turns would cause me to be swarmed and picked apart. I would have to oxycodone and adderall to get out of these situations alive.

Ultimately it killed me though. I was trying to clear out a public works building. Usually trying to clear anything in town is pretty impossible, just because of sheer numbers and endless reserves of zombies(it’s pretty good for random loot though), but structures outside town are doable. For example I managed to clear out an apartment complex with some random NPCs in the area. In previous games I used gas stations to buff the combat skill of my early characters.

Anyway, when trying to conquer the public works, I was confronted at some point by shockers and managed to spread out a group of 5 and kill them individually(of course I couldn’t do anything about shock damage). And then I went back to fight after many bandages. Eventually though another group of 2 or 3 paralyzed me over and over and a brute beat me to death.

Sucks, but I don’t feel so bad because the game was so fun. Though I had this idea I never tested out. Do rubber boots help this in any way? I can’t think of anything else that could protect you from paralysis.

There’s a CBM that makes you immune to shocks when active, Diematric something.

There’s also a second way to avoid them, but that’s possibly a spoiler.

Keyreper, I love that map!

So I found out that with the right character it IS possible to survive a Surrounded Start at 49.9 spawn rate.

49.9? I am disappointed, 49.9 is for casuals, 50 is where it should be .1 be a huge difference.

Inspired by Gakkou Gurashhttp://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/gakkou-gurashi-r9554, I’ve been slowly turning a school into a fortified location.

Its been working just fine for me.

Also there’s practically no difference between 49.9 and 50.0 I think.

Also how did you survive? What was the character like?

Walking through town, four loaded Remington 870s on my back, dropping all the motherfuckers.

And now I’m out of shells. This was a horrible idea.

After Getting chased away from a sewage treatment plant by a bear, I stumbled across a dead NPC surrounded by a Moose and Giant wolf spider after a vicious battle with the moose I looted the corpse while I was getting poisoned. I found a Chainsaw and a Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. “A book that embodies the main beliefs of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. It seems to involve a lot of pirates and some sort of invisible drunken monster made of pasta”

After reading the book a couple of times I got high on cocaine, went to a nearby town, and slaughtered every zombie I could fine.
