Elf-A also has phelloderm, leaves, and fey eyes which are pretty neat.
I wonder why I haven’t ever gone full Elf-A? Maybe just my natural dislike of fantasy Elves?

Tireless too, which can be epic especially with Fey Nightsight and Extremely Perceptive.
It’s all fun and games until you’re disintegrating…
I am Samantha Freeman.
Yes, THAT Freeman.
I never knew what happened to my father and I’m sure I never will but, that really doesn’t matter now. Elliot has finished his modifications to the teleportation technology that Eli Vance had almost perfected with his daughter Alyx. The difference is, we weren’t trying to teleport to Mexico, we were teleporting to an alternate dimension.
Suited in my HEV suit, I prepared to step through the stable rift or “portal” as it is called by some. I double checked that I had what I needed. Crowbar, check. That’s all my father needed so why would I need anything else? Don’t tell Elliot but I did sneak my Atomic Smartphone along for the ride. I was curious if it could work across dimensions. He didn’t think it was worth testing… something something “interference”. How could a phone interfere with anything? Elliot insisted that I take some nutriment and a hydration pack with me, just in case the worst happened. “Oh no, those won’t interfere” he said “Just that damned smart phone of yours!”. He caught me but, what of it? I’m the subject after all and I’m taking all the risk.
Unlike my father I was fitted with an integrated toolset and about 1000 units of energy to power it, I imagine the technology came… after his time.
I was ready to step through the portal and Elliot gave me the thumbs up.
As most plans go, this was supposed to be a quick in and out. Test the technology and refine if needed. As most plans go, this one went wrong.
I’ll spare you the visual of how discomforting dimensional travel is and just start with what went wrong.
When I regained my senses I was downed by nausea and needless to say, I filled my HEV helmet with vomit. I ripped it off my head and started sucking in oxygen like I was a marathon runner. Elliot had said “Hold your breath before stepping into the portal!” but that is far easier to say when you’re the operator and not the subject.
After I regained my senses, I looked around. No… fucking… return… portal. “SHIT” I said, plus a bunch of other additive expletives. I knew I wasn’t going home anytime soon. Now I wish I had brought more than just a crowbar.
It was snowing outside so I imagine it was cold. I couldn’t tell because of my environmental suit. I thanked whatever was responsible for good fortune and got to my feet. I was in a structure of sorts, nothing that I’ve seen in my time. It seemed cozy enough but, cozy isn’t what I needed. I needed to report back on the success of the teleportation. I poked around a bit, found a gun I was unfamiliar with and some ammo, but it didn’t fit into the gun so I left them… I found a sketch; a map of the general area. Small, didn’t show much other than some wood trails (what is that?) and a hazardous waste sarcophagus.
I looked outside. “WOW!” I thought. “So much green!”. It was beautiful.
So far this dimension seemed a lot better than the one I was from.
Holly had been humming to herself quietly while stripping a vehicle of usable parts. Her home, which was quickly becoming an underground bunker, required a lot of resources for the extensive upgrades she had in mind. When suddenly out of the blue she heard something that had become a rarity in the past year, usually in the form of grotesque parroting from the mouths(?) of the strange creatures down in the lab. But out of the snow fall came a man, an honest-to-god survivor.
The man approached cautiously but the greeting he called was full of surprise and hope “Hello stranger, it’s been a long time since I’ve met anyone else that’s made it through this madness”. He swept Holly with an appraising eye and she wondered for a moment how she appeared to him, with long green hair spilling down her back, the tell tale marks of bionic augmentation and eyes glowing green from above her mask.
Holly eyeballed him in return, he looked well weathered but in good health, his gear was minimal and just as worn but well maintained. “Well met” she replied “Call me Holly”, the newcomer seem to relax fractionally. “Sterling” he responded in kind “Don’t take me the wrong way but… would you mind some company?”. He scratched at his salt and pepper hair nervously “Things have been getting more dangerous and us humans should stick together, right?”. Holly was surprised at how happy the question made her, whether from the possibility of human contact or merely the fact that after all she had done to herself this stranger still viewed her as “human” she couldn’t tell. “Sure” she replied as casually as she could manage “I’ve got a safe spot if you’re interested?”.
Maddy Kane was a simple girl. She liked bluegrass music, cute guys and fried food. She also liked hooch. Copper tubing in a shed kind of hooch. So when she left her mobile base to “walk” into town to save gas…she did not expect much. After all…she had cleared the town last week right? As it turns out zombies can walk. They can walk from one town to another. In large numbers. Maddy found her booze that day…but it cost her half her ammo and multiple skinned up “knees” Sometimes you have to stand your ground kids. Because…moonshine doesn’t make itself.
To say Sterling had been impressed by her base had been an understatement, she wondered what he had expected when she’d led him down the stairs to her workshop. Certainly not the powered, multi chambered mini complex she’d taken him for a tour around. With a couple of days work the two of them had prepared for him a comfortable room off to one side and the man had quickly joined her with the rest of her work, being more then happy to lend his skills as an electrician and mechanic to the on going task. Holly suspected the older man wanted to prove his value and worth, though Holly herself was happy enough just having some company.
Much time later and the basic electric system and power network for my underground base/bunker is complete, once I’ve finished mining out the two rooms to the south I’ll think about hooking them up too. I went with a combination of wiring and aisle so I wouldn’t be slowed constantly by walking over naked wires and with everything laid out so I can still drag stuff over from both the stairs leading up to the surface and the ones leading up from the lab below. I’ve mostly been using coal for my main power generation but I’ve got it set up to make use of pretty much any fuel source that I happen to have in abundance at a given time.
im loving Hollys progression. Kinda jealous lol. Im sitting here in Roller RV conversion thinking im fancy because i have a stove HAHAHAH
I just hope I can actually grow stuff underground Otherwise that room to the north is going to look a bit silly, spring is nearly here though so I’ll soon find out
Most of my Characters dont bother with farming. We just live off the corpse of the old world like this saint of saints
I want me some stuff I can’t find anymore, Holly would kill for a baked potato Growing it seems the more moral choice.
Things started well for Papa “Bob” Bendi, an ex(?) convict sheltering in a house next door to a convinience store. Loaded up a shopping trolley, found an army helmet, liner and duffle bag in a nearby surplus store then a quad bike that only needed a battery in a garage down the road.
Found a quiet spot at the edge of town and gathered a few more supplies on the way. Found a security van that only needed a new battery…
Then the game crashed…
And i forgot to save the game before then.
oohhhhhhhhhhh got turn on autosave man. Harsh.
Well…two new forward wheels, and extra storage box and bed car on both sides and a 50 cal Browning in the forward center. The death trike is coming along like a charm.
(Thanks for the likes on my last post. It is you, the writers in this thread, that brought me here. Thank you!)
As it turns out, we did not only achieve (by we, I mean Elliot) dimensional travel. We also pulled off time travel. At least, that is what it feels like. This world is even alien to me. There are so many trees, so many bushes, and so little buildings. No surprise, Elliot’s warning about the Atomic Smartphone was likely warranted and it hasn’t worked for communication. It is a handy light source though. Atomic Smartphone communication experiment was a failure.
I left the building I had arrived in and made my way way through the dense forest. There was no way I could hold up where I started. I knew my next best option for communication to my original dimension was to find this dimension’s version of a laboratory.
After breaking through the dense brush, I found a road. At least that was familiar. I followed it moving northwest to what the map referred to as an “L”. I couldn’t help but to think that was a lab of some sort.
I don’t know if I was right or wrong but that location had a really, REALLY big turret guarding it, much bigger than anything from what I am used to. So I retraced my steps and hit the woods again. At this point I was grateful for the nutriment (2000cal) and the hydration pack. I made my way back into the woods towards the “trails” that were marked on the small map. Human’s really used to travel these paths? Why not use the roads and a vehicle?
It was starting to get dark and I realized that I would have to sleep amongst the trees tonight. I didn’t know much about survival other than eating or drinking but I figured if I cut a tree with a lot of brush, I could use it as a makeshift shelter.
I spent the whole night tossing and turning. That didn’t work out at all! It wasn’t the temperature that kept me up but the looming feeling of predators or maybe it was just unfamiliarity. Either way, that wasn’t going to suit me. When the sun rose, I gathered quite a few pine boughs and arranged them on the ground. I took a power nap and set out to my previous task of finding something, anything.
Then I stumbled upon a small city.
I was starting to think this dimension is a lot worse than the one I came from.
The discord server has a creative tab for writers and artists of all stripes too Good stuff BTW
Wow, thanks! I always felt like I wasn’t a very strong writer.
Do you think these belong in the creative tab instead of here?
They belong anywhere that people enjoy them. And we like them. I would guess as long as its CDDA content it belongs here.
I’ve been playing Cata since whales and DA has kept my favorite game going. <3 to Kevin and the other devs and <3 to you for making me feel good about my posts =D
