Nothing wrong witha creative interpretation of what’s going on in your game, that’s all I do, take whats happened and add some character to it.
Out of fuel and no cars to be found. Summer blues…its hot and nasty and my panties are riding my crotch like no ones biz. Time to start walking i guess. A six legged girl cant catch a break. Even the damned wind feels like a blast furnace.
This one is making the character for themselves. First time i’ve really played an OP character (The HEV suit negates almost everything except bullets, blunt, and piercing.)
I feel like my story wouldn’t be great on discord, it’d look like a huge wall of text XD
Alright, I can kinda understand why people use these wood trails. If you need to run, they’re a great place to run to.
This town I found is filled with… zombies. Not like the zombies where I am from, the head crabs didn’t do this, they are true and true zombies. This is way worse than I expected. They’re… terrifying… and while I don’t think they can get through my suit, I’m afraid to test it. Geeze, me… afraid. That’s new.
I did push in though, my crowbar doing what it wasn’t meant to do, smashing in skulls. It quickly deformed and became worthless. These creatures; the zombies, they didn’t take a break. They also did not move like our zombies, they were faster, more ruthless. I had to rethink my strategy.
While my suit did prove impervious to certain types, it wasn’t to all. While I was thinking of a new strategy a “runner” as I will now call them; almost tackled me. But what surprised me the most is he was able to start munching me and my underwear while bypassing my suit when he was attacking! Whatever these creatures are, they don’t follow the laws of the universe we know.
I kicked him off and beat him repeatedly with my crowbar, only to see a magnum revolver fall out of his pockets. Fancy that. I retreated with the weapon to my holdout.
This dimension is SO MUCH WORSE than mine.
“You should wait here” Holly adviced as bullets and arrows dinged off the Bastions armour plating, Sterling looked at her in surprise “Wait, what? Surely you’re not going out there?”. Holly grimaced, failing to hide her disgust at how far these people had allowed themselves to fall. “Can’t leave 'em out here, we’re safe enough but the next unlucky sod might not be”, with a spin of the wheel and a foot stomped on the break she brought the vehicle to a halt with the bulk of the armour in place to take the worst of the fire. “But… they have guns…” Sterling looked genuinely worried for her safety and Holly felt a little touched by his concern. “That they do” She flashed him a confident grin “But I have a few tricks of my own…”. Pressing a couple more buttons she brought the Bastions powerful laser turret online and turned on the auto targetting system. “Stay here and whatever you do, don’t get out the vehicle. I wouldn’t want you catching some friendly fire because of me”. With a confident wave, she activated her cloaking system and slipped out the vehicle leaving the her companion looking around in shock.
The enemy fire was coming from a fortified apartment complex the two of them had come across while scouting, the hostilities had started without warning and only the Bastions heavy armour had saved the two from injury or worse. Holly chose to circle around a bit before ghosting up to the gate, wanting to avoid catching any stray bullets if possible.
The entire place was nearly surround by traps and the gate looked formidable but Holly merely smiled to herself. Placing a hand, palm flat, against the long steel gate she activated another of her bionics. For a moment nothing happened, then the gate began to vibrate. Slowly at first but with ever increasing speed and intensity until, with a terrible shriek, the gate and part of the wall nearest to her tore themselves apart.
There were cries of alarm and as the sounds of running feet rapidly approached, Holly took that moment to center herself. And as the mass of bandits and other lowlifes spilled through the gap she took a deep breath, raised her hand, dropped her cloak and activated her flashbang system. The group was instantly turned into a blind, stumbling mob as their senses were overwhelmed by the sudden light and noise. Holly, not one to throw away an advantage, stepped forward. Drawing Minneyar from it’s scabbard, she brought the blade around and down, stepping into the blow and opening the first man from shoulder to hip in a single brutal strike. Blood and vicisera splashed across the ground and the man fell without a word. She pushed on, wadding into the crowd, taking special care to cut down any that held a gun first. The group was recovering now and Holly was forced to block a brutal cut aimed at her neck by a man wearing a tattered trenchcoat, the sound of steel on steel rang through the air. Her mutated and techologically enhanced senses gave sudden warning and with preternatural speed the swordswomen ducked under a whistling blow from behind. Taking the grip in both hands, Holly brought Minneyar around in a great two handed arc. The blow cleaved through the first mans leg and chopped partly into the other, sending him crashing to the ground screaming with blood jetting from the severed limb. Still in a crouch, with enemies all around, Holly activitated another implant, a shockwave was released, like thunder on a cloudless day and threw all those around her to the ground. Holly moved quickly and efficiently, finishing off her downed opponents.
It was over in minutes, Holly wasn’t even breathing hard by the end. With a casual flick of her wrist she sent the excess of blood coating her sword splashing on the ground. She carefully wiped the blade clean with a rag from her belt before moving cautiously up to the gap she’d made. In the courtyard she could see one of the militaries atomic mini tanks and a new plan began to form, with a grin she activated her cloak once again and slipped into the compound…
Killed the guards at the front then snuck in and nicked their mini tank, the Browning on it did the rest of the work. Now I’m debating whether I should nuke the buildings or not.
Turns out (arguably) that it’s a good thing I didn’t nuke the towers but now I REALLY need to find a bus or something fast because no amount of quick modifying is going to get me enough seating on the Bastion to get this lot back to base.
Oh dear. thats a alot of mouths to feed
At least I’ve got room for them already, can you imagine if I had to try and fit them all in my orginal little basement?
Shouldn’t take too long to knock together 12 rooms and 12 beds considering the amount of rocks I’ve got lying around.
Do you mine out the rooms
I mined out everything apart from the original basement and the grow basement to the north, for my newcomers quarters I’ve not decided yet(If I can get them back in one piece). I’m not sure how well the base camp system will work underground but I might try it and see, I could also use all the mined out stones I’ve collected to make use of the space I’ve already got available and divide one of the halls into smaller chambers or I could carve small bedrooms out of the sides of one of the halls.
If the camp system will work undergroud that’s my preference if only so they can be doing something productive but like I said, I’ll have to see .
Unfortunately the camp system won’t work underground. I’m 99% sure.
A rainy Autumn afternoon. Warlo updates his video memoirs.
Day 370.
Well, journal of mine. It’s been a year since all of this started. Uh, plus five days. I’ll admit, I’ve been drinking again. Why not, right? Celebrate life! Celebrate survival! Mourn the fallen. Yeah, the fallen…
Warlo adjusts his collar and looks down.
What a thing to be fighting for. That guy really got me with his schpiel. “Bring back justice and safety. Build a better tomorrow!”
Bullshit. Nothing but wetwork. “Destroy our enemies.” Yeah, great. We’re all in the same boat and no one seems to get it. We can never go back to how things were before. There is no safe future over the horizon. We’re all bandit scumbags now. Some of us just… don’t admit it. Looting, stealing, desecrating, tormenting, torturing. Killing. The killing never stops.
Monsters and demons. The infected, constantly mutating and changing. The marloss. Oh, the marloss. It calls to me even now. My mind is tainted even after I spent so much time and effort on researching and bumbling together a cure. The portal and mutagen combo. Yeah, yeah. But I can’t forget the taste of bliss. Never. Never. Never! NEVER will I give in to it again! Son of a bitch!
He downs half a bottle of bourbon.
Son of… A BITCH! BITCH! SHIT! How long can I keep going, huh?! There’s nothing good for me out there. I’m alone! I. Am. Alone. Ahah! AHAHAH! All. Alone. All of you other fuckers. YOU stay away. I’m alone, I tell you. I don’t need no… no anybody… tell me…
Ugh.
Damn it. Bionics keeping me wide awake. Cleaning me up. Yeah, yeah. Good. I need them. I’d be dead without all of this tech. Maybe I’ll live forever. Maybe.
I want to go home.
Holly backed up slowly, striking left and right, as the mass of bandits pushed her back down the corridor. They were armed with an assortment of melee weapons, from axes to machettes and everything in between and while none of them was her match alone, the sheer press of bodies and tight quarters were working against her. As Holly launched a strike that opened the throat of one of the fighters she heard a noise from behind, she risked a quick glance over her shoulder and cursed as she realised there were more of the bandits coming up from the other end of the corridor. If she didn’t act fast she’d be completely surrounded, launching into a flurry of blows she drove the enemies before her back. As the enemy faulted under her renewed assault, Holly turned on her heels and sprinted down the corridor towards the reinforcements. She needed a better place to make her stand, somewhere where her back would be protected. Slipping between the bodies and reaching weapons of the forerunners, she drove into one of the stairwells that acted as the spine of the apartments before spinning back around, ready to meet the mob.
There was no time for finesse now as the enemy washed over her like a tide, the fight quickly devolved into a brutal hack and slash affair. Holly refused to be budged and hammered back, send the thugs and bullyboys stumbling away with great rents in their flesh.
As she sent one of the wretches stumbling backward, desperately trying to hold in his spilt intestines, Holly went cold as she realised the two people behind held military grade rifles. She barely had time to raise her arms before both opened up on full automatic, the bullets tore into her and sent her reeling.
Her back crashed against the nearest wall, her blood joined the wash below and her right arm hung shattered at her side. One of the bandits laughed “Got you now monster”, They began to raised their weapons again and Holly’s face twisted in a snarl as she activated her cloak, only sheer force of will had kept her nerveless right hand gripping Minneyar but as her cloak came up, she forcefully activated her adrenaline gland and switched the blade over to left hand. Various implants around her body were automatically releasing nanos and painkillers into system as they tried to contain the massive damage she’d taken, her power system already depleted by the battle up until now was taxed to it’s absolute limits. Lunging forward, she tore into the two riflemen. If she was to survive this disasterous encounter, they had to die now…
I ended up accidentally saving over my picture but I got absolutely wreaked in one nasty fight half way up the tower, two guys with M4A1s just unloaded on me. Broke my survivors arm and reduced her torso to 10hp, by this point I’d been down to about 1800 power (out of 28.5k). Burned the rest of my power finishing those off before my cloak dropped.
Epic entry good sir.
It hurts worse on the inside…When they attack out of fear. I dont want to hurt any other soul.
Maddlyn Lee Kane
Another Human attacked me today. Didn’t even say a word. She just saw that i was different and attacked. I slapped her around and forced her to flee… but not before she stabbed me good in my left middle tentacle. I carry my weight on the middle ones. Its gimplimp city for a few days. Why do they hate us so much? In all my time out here…i have NEVER been attacked by a Mutant. Only Humans. I guess its in their nature. It will be sad to watch them fade into the night. I guess they have it coming though.
I should have never agreed to this. It just keeps getting worse. What carries me is the thought of my father, he didn’t have a choice and I guess, neither do I at this point.
I have no reference to anything in this world. The trees are different, the wildlife is different, even the cars are different. I’m not entirely sure how to proceed. I’ve destroyed a lot of the undead in this area and it seems I could stay here safely for some time. That is against my goal and not something I can commit to, although my entire being wishes I would.
I know what I need to do and that is to somehow gain entry to the “L” on my map. The fact it is guarded makes me feel even more inclined to do so. It wouldn’t be guarded if it didn’t have tech beneath it. But, I just don’t have the resources right now. I did attempt to approach it at night but, somehow it could see me. Blew a fist sized hole through the tree right next to me. I knew, at that moment, that I needed to prepare a bit more.
I found another map, this one a bit more revealing. There was a decent sized city near me. My plan was to ascend one of the apartment towers and get a good layout of the place. Heh, apartment towers, just about the only thing that feels familiar to me in this land. Thankfully that tower was close to the outskirts.
As I made my way inside it was clear this place was filled with death… no, undeath. Moans and groans echoed throughout the building. Obviously (not to me) the elevators were down so I had to ascend the stairwell. Thank god I was in good shape. I just beelined it up to the roof. I wasn’t prepared for what I would see.
The dead roamed… EVERYWHERE. There were even things I wasn’t sure if they were dead, just big fuckin monsters. This did not bode well for me and reminded me of the saying “Any easy thing is without forethought, as all things are difficult”.
I could see what appeared to be two different martial arts establishments and another two gun stores. What these places might hold could be gold for me.
Now I just had to figure out how to get there.
S’s on the map are searched. I did skip my story of coming across the prison, an armored car and looting a mansion, might fill that in on the next installlment. Red line is total journey to date, day 27
After the disasterous encounter with the two riflemen Holly was forced to go to ground to recover, her body had been torn and broken, her bionic power completely bottomed out. She wasn’t in a position to pull back though, doing so would leave the survivors below in danger of a counter attack and that wasn’t a situation she would countenance. No, instead Holly had chosen to move deeper into the complex. Sheathing Minneyar as she went, a little clumsy with her offhand, she’d swept up one of the rifles that had done her such damage. A M4A1 by the look, nasty stuff. Easily enough to punch through even her bionic armour, it would do, a bit more rumaging had yielded some ammo to match. Holly could already hear more of the bandits approaching, drawn by the loud gunfire and she was in no condition to fight right now so she moved off. Pain and drug induced tiredness warred within, leaving her dizzy and lightheaded.
The pain and drugs made her clumsy and it took all of her concentration to stay on her feet but she moving as quickly as she could manage, searching for a safe spot to recover. All of her power generation systems were online now, she strained against the ratchets imbeded in her limbs and hunger gnawed at her as the metobolic interchange drew on her bodies reserves but it was imperative that she recovered some of her power.
Just as the drugs had begun to overcome her, she’d stumbled onto one of the gangs supply rooms, there was one guard but Holly disbatched her without incident. Grabbing anything that looked remotely edible, Holly had headed to the darkest corner of the room and sat with her back against the wall, with gritted teeth she’d shut down her pain suppressent system and purged all drugs from her system. The scalding pain had been hideous but it helped clear her mind from the fog of heavy painkillers. After mastering herself she began tearing into food in a frenzy, the metabolic interchange seemingly burning it up as fast as she could consume it.
As she ate, she took stock of her situation. She was free and alive, her right arm was done though, the nano repair system had it’s limits and she would need time and proper treatment to fix the damage there. The upside was that the enemy wouldn’t know how injured she was and they would still be focused on the killer in their midst rather then the escapees hiding behind the Bastion below. Her power levels were still extremely low but not in the desperate state they were before and she had a whole pack full of food now to draw on to improve them. She would have to be cautious but she could continue.
After the psychostigmatic pain from her mostly healed wounds had abated somewhat Holly continued onward, rifle in hand, slaying all that she came across. It was only when she reached the roof after slaying the last of the bandits that she realised the new danger. From this vantage point she could see hordes of zombies approaching, no doubt drawn by the sound of heavy gunfire. Her heart chilled at the idea of the unarmed group below trying to fight off such numbers and she rushed for the stairs, taking them two at a time as she sprinted downward. As she entered the countyard see could she the Bastions laser cannon blazing as it tore into the ranks of the shambling dead, some of the braver survivors were edging forward with whatever pitiful weapons they had managed to scrounge, ready to engage any that broke through. It would be a massacre.
She had one chance, once again forcefully activating her her adrenal gland, Holly dumped all her remaining power into her trump card. Time seem to slow, then crawled to a halt as she activated her experimental Time Dilation implant. The strain on her muscles was immense, straining them past their limits and the very air burned as she sprinted forward. Minneyar was in her hand and she tore into the seemingly immobile horrors like a whirlwind of death, determind that her efforts would not be in vain. As the last of the dead fell, her reserves gave out and time came crashing back into focus. She lent heavily on her sword, arm limp at her side, covered in gore.
It was over. They had won.
Damn that was a nasty battle, the limitations placed on you by requiring bandits to spot you before attacking makes bandit towers probably the most dangerous area I’ve ever cleared, I include Central Labs and The Vault in that. When I saw the courtyard swarming with zombies after I finished I almost banged my head against a wall, if I hadn’t had a decent chunk of bionic power recovered and the time dilation cbm I’m pretty sure most of my rescued captives would of bit it. Still, they are now safe in the tower and I can start looking at getting some transport sorted for them. I’ve already got a mobile artillery vehicle waiting and I just need to go grab and fit a bunch of seats so I can move everyone at once. Hollys arm is unfortuantly going to have to wait until after that since I doubt I’m going to get what I need without some more fighting but at least with zombies I don’t have to play fair and they don’t have frickin guns.
Wooded trails. The one good thing that’s still the same as before the fall. More or less safe. No turrets in the woods.
