What's happening in YOUR randomly generated apocalypse? Part 2!

My poor dumb elf has made it one week (with only one death trying to escape the hospital), after a lot of running around I ended up basing her out of the basement of a evac shelter since there was three(!) on the outskirts of the town. She has finally got to the point where she was able to craft herself a longbow, mostly by raising her skills the hard way. Reading with 4 intelligence is… time consuming, I’m not looking forward to some of the higher end books :cold_sweat:.

Had some nice finds overall, got that one house with the large quiver, a pitchfork in someones shed and found a pickaxe outside another house.
So far my forays into the local town have been pretty limited though, the zombie density is high enough to make it pretty risky and I’ve already had to clear out a group outside the shelter that must of followed her home Still lacking some of the other tools but I’m gonna start working on the metal working stuff next so that shouldn’t be a problem for much longer.

Found an apartment building with its own natural traps: rose bushes around the area, and a junkyard in back with a barbed wire fence that keeps snagging the zombies. One corner of the fence was torn down, too, so I snagged a piece of wire to make the wire bat, and when I’m not reinforcing the apartment’s ground floor I’ve been venturing out at night to bag zombies.

Discovered a fun way to get them to show up when they start getting scarce: pile up all the bodies I’ve accrued so far in the middle of the street and light the mess on fire. Gets rid of clothes/refuse/etc and lures a new batch to wallop.

A trip to the local library almost goes horribly wrong:

She’s going to be feeling that one in the morning :cold_sweat:.

Those rich people are a strange bunch…

I was legit expecting the moose to ask the squirrel to watch him pull a rabbit out of a hat. Seems like the kind of thing that might be programmed into the game.

Found it on a drug deal scene. Those guys definitely took their business seriously.

PS. I wonder, is there anything in vanilla this thing can’t oneshot?

That can certainly one-shot everything* in vanilla and most mods. Magiclysm is the only mod I can think of that has some monsters capable of tanking that.

* A Shoggoth could probably tank it if you let it absorb enough stuff to increase its health to ridiculous levels but I don’t know why you would let that happen.

Well, I wasn’t really expecting to get a chance at much survivor gear this run. No electrcity takes away the option for most of the craft recipes but it turns out vet survivor zombies carry pieces of it. I might see if I can loot a complete set

Recently my Elf has been on the road, been a while since I used rollerskates but with a dedicated ranged survivor and no modern vehicles it makes a lot of sense. I’ve got her mostly outfitted in chainmail along with a few pieces of low/zero encumbrance gear to keep her warmth up, I’ve finally been able to craft the mighty Compound Greatbow.
Love that bow, I’ve been able to take on skeleton juggernauts and kevlar zombies reliably with it, I can’t craft most of the mods for it but I found a scope for it in the one of the hunting stores and now I’ve just got to see if I can find the other mods I guess.

Had some horrible RNG on my 0.D stable character (he’s the one that I actually care about, and thus only use the stable version)

I have the city size set to 1 below max, and found not a single lab in it. Not one basement hiding one, not one Subway tunnel branched off to one. None hiding below a store or gas station. Nadda. . .

His mission, when his chopper crashed, was to collect documents detailing the mutagenic serums, and collect samples of each. His chopper crashed en-route to the city, and he found a dead team of scientists outside the city limits and on them found reports detailing Prime and Medical serums. But nothing else in the entire city. . .

Variations of “Cumming” are actually quite common in America. It’s a Scottish surname, and it was also a popular 17th/18th century spelling for the ancient Chinese city of Kunming.

(Cumming, Georgia was so named because early settlers thought they could grow silk there.)

"The taint spreads and its vociferates become more monstrous with each passing day. We don’t know how to stop it, death reigns in the land. Surely we are witness to the last days of all mankind!

Also, there appears to be a zombie outbreak."

Took my elf to one of the new style labs and cleared the whole thing over a two day period with nothing but her bow and 100 arrows, over 500 enemies in there and the only thing she ran into that she can’t kill so far is the armoured zombies. I guess I could come back with a high bash weapon but I’m not really that bothered, kind ruins the theme if I take a mace to em or something.
Between this one and an old style lab I cleared I’ve picked up quite a few mutagen books and all the tools required for crafting, still no Elf-a recipe though so the search continues.

After pillaging countless cities and all manners of labs, >500 overmap tiles from my homebase, I have finally found the first (and, obviously, currently the only) working nanofabricator. Made all the cool shit I collected templates for, went to rob a bank nearby. On the way to the bank took a detour to electronics store, got a multicooker. After returning to my mobile base after yet-another-waste-of-time-bank, decided to cook some things. Set it up, put it into my foodco unit, saved and went to sleep. Woke up, and… there was no multicooker in there. And nowhere else, for that matter.
“okay”, I thought. “It’s probably a bug, no biggie, I’ll just Alt-F4, reload from the save before sleep and wait till it’s done. Maybe even take it in my inventory to be sure it won;t disappear.” Easy, right? Except apparently the save is now corrupted, and the last backup is from 6 days ago.
Holy crap that sucks.

My character has been island hopping around this huge lake, foraging supplies and materials. She found a marina along one of the banks with a motor boat which GREATLY reduced her travel times and let her haul a lot more.

While scouting out the lake for new islands, she found one with a ready made cabin, smoke shack and boathouse, with a canoe/kayak/whatever tied up to boot. Using the motorboat’s fuel as sparingly as possible, she got the majority of her belongings to the island with the ready built property. I guess it was luck but after she landed from her last hauling trip, got everything unloaded and cleared a couple stray zombies, the island seemed to draw jawed terrors from just about every direction.

Thanks to a handful of pink tabs found in her travels, my char is tripping out, giggling and firing rocks at the terrors with her slingshot.

After a bit of work with medical mutagen and purifier serum I’m got my elf into a good place to start going down the elf-a line, picked up disease resistance (very helpful considering my elf has gotten a cold three times already this challenge x.X), poor healer flipped to fast healer and most importantly of all I picked up robust genetics. Not a bad trade for heavy sleeper and poor mana regen, I had to purge genetic chaos three times but I lost a lot of other bad mutations (along with pain resistance when I did x.X) so I’m not going to complain. Still haven’t found the elf-a recipe but I’m ready to start chugging it when I do!

Never posted here before, so a quick recap:

Started off as a student, completely surrounded by zombies. Somehow, I escaped, and ran off towards an abandoned cabin innawoods. Spent 30 days stockpiling, made a new friend in Vito Beach (A mouse mutant), and eventually managed to convert a derelict bus into my first Deathmobile.

I was a wizard for a while, but that’s not important.

I then raided a laboratory and made off with an Integrated Toolset CBM, and no power source… Now I’m drinking sewage samples in an attempt to strike back someday. This is the result.

Me, my bud Vito, and my bus:

I love how it says “fuel: animal” in engine desscription. Kinda reminds me of those Druuge ships :imp:
Although, come to think of it, we are effectively burning liquid dinosaurs in our regular combustion engines, so no big difference.

e: oh, almost forgot. Today my survivor learned a new way to heat food:
