What was the last thing that killed you?

Zombie children.

I underestimated them when looting a regional school and get surrounded, they are weak individually but there are tons of them pouring in from many directions.

My greatest death, involved my favorite prey. Shocker Zombie’s! I can’t get enough of hunting them, I literally raid a town for them more than any other product of commodity. I can’t get enough bionics. I thought I had stopped by car so I could grab a body before the horde arrive, I left it driving at 9 miles an hour, as I got shocked by a different non ran over shocker. Pain went up, couldn’t run fast enough to catch the car… They ate me. All of them, I think a master finished me off though.

Curiosity.

Just 15 minutes ago, my best hardcore character named “adventurer” expired due to his traitorous bear roommate. He liked staying away from towns because with 22hp on each limb, any form of combat is suicide. He mostly scavenged for food in the forest or whatever he came across, like that convenient LMOE shelter or that mine containing clean water. On the evening of Day 2, he found it was getting dark. Since the broken-down flatbed he used as a shelter last night was a good 20-30 map chunks away, he decided to go to the two-chunk cave to the south (containing a bear) and attempt to sleep without his bear roommate bothering him. He attempted twice, and the rock floor was, well, uncomfortable. So he tried to sleep next to a blood-splattered human corpse, and his bear roommate mauled him while he was trying to sleep.

Arg! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

My last character was a javelin thrower. He was B-A. Killing things left and right. Had a small base set up, source of infinite clean water. Oh look, a grocery store, let’s go loot there. Open the door. Jabbawock there. Crap. Try to set the store of fire (I remember hearing fire kills them easily) but I failed the first time with the matches and the Jabbawock came and destroyed me.

Surprise moose.

The gas tank I was trying to jack was not worth the subsequent hoofing my face received.

Got tag-teamed by a Shocker zombie and a bear. My wood ax was not sufficient for an assault on the public works building.

My Longtime character finally bit it, screaming down the highway at about 129MPH, some NPC decides to mug me, and shoots me in the chest and deals JUST enough damage to kill me.
I hope my car hit him.

Decided to assault a Triffid Grove. Got into the lower layer with a Flamethrower and a Nodachi.

A horde of triffids surrounded me, turned on Thermal Dissipation and Climate Control, tried to activate the Flamethrower but it was too late. I did find one gem in the memorial though:

EDIT: Several unlucky starts later I think I’ve picked the worst of spawns so far. A Military Outpost spawned next to the shelter. Automated Turrets killed me on turn one.

Wanted to make the game a bit more challenging, so I started a Winifred Burkle Character. 4 Str, 4 Dex, 20 Int, 8 Per. Also, a minor little crack addiction. (The whole prostitution thing was just a misunderstanding. She just wanted to have a little fun, for once in her life, what with it being the end of the world and all). Fast learner, fast reader among other traits.

The first few days were the hardest part, trying to find a water container. Cities were just too dangerous, as even a single zombie dog would likely prove fatal. She finally found a jar on the second day that would allow her to make fresh water and survive.

A week or two later, Wini was doing pretty well. However, while trekking down to the river to fill water bottles, a cougar got a lucky hit and caused her to bleed. Returning home, She ended up facing down two wolf packs, along with several dogs, coyotes, yet more cougars, and a really pissed off moose. The moose got some good hits in. Not even sure why the moose was pissed off at her; I think a cougar or coyote hit it while it was still a long ways off.

After the moose and the last dog, Wini was badly wounded, low on bolts for her repeating crossbow, and only 4 javelins as backup, but alive. Then the Zombear showed up. Fleeing west allowed our poor heroine to get some traps between her and the Zombear. The first trap, a shotgun, didn’t seem to do much more then annoy it. The remaining traps were buried and therefore of unknown types. The second turned out to be bear-trap, which held the Zombear while Wini moved in for some hits from the crossbow. The third trap was another bear-trap, allowing Wini to use the last of her bolts and javelin or two. The Zombear was nearly dead, and Wini figured she would stand point blank for likely criticals with her remaining two javalins while the fourth, and last trap, held the Zombear. The last trap wasn’t another Bear-trap. It was a mine.

BOOM.

Poor Wini…

Ran away from master zombie. Came back, master zombie surrounded by specials. Only had 10 shots, had used all of my 9mm ammo before I ran away. It didn’t end well.

I killed a squirrel kamikaze style.
I crashed my car because for some reason my vehicle pinballed even if it was “removed”. I flew at the squirrel dealing 1583 damage to it and dying at the same time! VERY FUN!

One of my many, many, MANY schizophrenic characters was in town, clearing out the area near the gun store. Being the very soul of caution, I decided to get the zombies attention by blowing them up with a hand grenade, being on low health and all. Unfortunately, this is the bit where my schizophrenic, having been off of Thorazine for a few days, decided to go to sleep. With an armed grenade in his hand.

A miss programed turret that i set up with hopes of defending myself from a swamp swarm.

Crippled, infected, nothing to cauterize my wounds with, no first aid/bandages and near death and in severe pain my char downs an entire bottle of vodka in one go and continually passes out and throws up and ends up starving/dehydrating to death as can’t keep his food or drink down.
