Weird spawn

In one game today i had my starting location surrounded by triffids.
Lots and lots of triffids.

my question is why did the game spawn so many enemies so close?

Because the random number generator or RNG hates you.

This is an extremely common problem with likely little chance of it being fixed. People have gotten tank-drones, mi-gos. Personally my worst was tearing down a window to a 50 cal turret.

I had many starts where I was greeted by mushrooms, a whole pack of wolfes, all inhabitants of a swamp, a military road blockade + turrets, Mi-gos and finally mooses.

Ofc not all at once, but I had a world where EVERY char just took a step out and I went “OH F…! REALLY GAME?!”

The RNG is just being a dick.

I once got double-teamed by a tank drone and chicken walker at the same time.

Spawned at an evac shelter in the middle a big ass city in my winter start world surrounded by an assortment of zombies outside, and my immediate response was…

I was not killed by the triffids.
But by a coyote, the coyote had just killed an other survivor, it should have ignored me and eaten the corpse instead it attacked me.

Please add that animals like coyotes eat none infected corpses.

I once spawned in a house with 3 Flashlight and when I peeked through the curtains I saw a Hulk and 5 Brutes. It really sucked.

Oh well, still not as bad as DCSS.

[size=8pt]Turn around corner on D1.
You see a gnoll wielding a halberdx2
You see a gnoll wielding a glowing spear.
The gnolls see you and growl!
A gnoll wielding a runed mace appears!

Careful. Most folks who criticize DDA’s balance, item list, etc praise DCSS as a Good Game and what we should be aiming to emulate.

A scavenging/survival/tank-building post-apocalypse skilled[sup][/sup] techmutant roguelike with guaranteed-random locations vs. dungeon-delving classed[sup][/sup] fantasy roguelike with non-guaranteed-random locations.
The only matching bits are “roguelike” and “random locations”.

[sup]*[/sup] I remember about DCSS having some skills, but in it class determines much, MUCH more than CDDA’s professions.

There could be a workaround - just removing all enemies in starting reality bubble, unless “surrounded start” option is checked.

Wow, this would make city starts a lot safer. (Unless “surrounded start” is checked, of course.)

DCSS used to be a good game. Then they started to curb fun in favour for boring boring boring Acti-Blizzard style “balance”.

I spawned in a shelter only to have it immediately collapse due to a liberal double dose of flaming eye.
