Vehicle Show and Tell

Something like a mesh overlay, like the ones on police vans that can be dropped over the windscreen if they’re heading into trouble, would be good. It could reduce visibility range by a few squares, rather than field of view.

Make it only a little more durable than the windscreen itself, but it takes the hits first, and if it’s damaged down to grey, you only need some scrap metal or a metal chunk to repair it.

So what does currently happen if I put both a metal plate and a windshield on the same bit of frame? It seems I can do it.

I guess I can try it out on a duplicate save…

If you’ve got the batteries to spare, it won’t matter much. If it blocks visibility, take it off again.

I think most of the discussion here is that whether or not it does, it probably SHOULD, and looking for sensical alternatives.

Well you could always claim that the metal sheet was cut into reinforcement bars or something like that nature.

Anyway, thankfully I no longer need to worry about batteries because I installed the vehicle mounted welder. IT IS AWESOME.

Yeah, it really is. Most of my dragsters are tiny though, there’s only space for it at the rear.

Oh it’s on the rear of my RV too. But I worked out I can use it from inside the vehicle if I press E and examine a solar panel.

And I installed so many batteries I have no chance of running out of power for it for quite some time even if the sun dies.

Found this in a recent nightly build:

Um… what?
IS IT DRIVABLE?

It is.

I guess this might be the right thread to ask:
What do different wheel types affect?

All wheels are same.

I think wide wheels are (intended to be) more durable.

Wide wheels dont set off traps.

That was a bug, they do now.

Really? Ah well, there goes those ideas.

Finally found this thread. Knew there had to be one.

Name: The Defiant
Engine: V8
Safe Speed: 72 MPH
Top Speed: 477 MPH

This is a vehicle that I made back in the 0.6 Samedi version, hence why the tires stick out from the rest of the vehicle. I plan to remake this in the current version and give it a slimmer profile, but obtaining all the parts is a massive grind, as you can probably tell. After refitting and repairing this beast numerous times, my Mechanics skill grew to over level 130.

Its “death” came when I encountered a collision bug. I collided with a vehicle when going in reverse, which somehow caused it to ricochet back into the Defiant and launch it forward at over 1250 MPH. I ran into something (it may have been a dragonfly) that caused the three gasoline tanks to explode and destroy half of the vehicle, including my character’s seatbelt and launch him almost a hundred feet in front of the Defiant. I recuperated fast enough to avoid being crushed by what remained of the beast, but the game bugged out shortly thereafter, so I put the entire world into its own folder.

…you made that by manually typing it out instead of taking a picture?

How long did that take?

Well, you can use g to examine your vehicle from the inside either way, but…
okey

A minute or so.

Yes. The Lobster Thingy.
It took a day to haul metal things from a bomb site on the other side of the revealed map. Then 4 days to actually build the thingy. A few pointless things here and there… I lost it when I stupidly drove into a house testing the vehicle against hordes. Two solar panels led to the two batteries charging almost completely while I was drinking my coffee. My morning 5 cups of coffee. Unfortunately I had caught a cold building the car while wearing two blankets and a snuggie. So I apparently couldn’t just get a good night’s sleep. The construction held up particularly well against bushes, for some reason…
