Vehicle Show and Tell

You can use armored windshields and floor aisles

You can use armored windshields and floor aisles
what do you mean exactly? do you mean i use you armored windshields and floor aisles with quarterpanels, or i can use armored windshields with floor aisles together to store things in?

also, i notice that stow boards don’t hold much :frowning:

They shouldn’t. A lot of things need rebalanced right now vehicle wise, storage space is one of them.

As far as I know, all “CARGO” parts in vehicles currently hold 400 units of volume of stuff; there’s no distinction between putting stuff on/under a seat and sticking it in the trunk.

Correct, stowboards are also (For reasons beyond my understanding) far more sturdy than regular boards…

weird… i’ll have to check and see how much stowboards hold but it just seems that they hold less than other storage compartments.

Stow boards hold 200.

However, they are not sturdier than regular boards; stow boards have 700 HP and regular boards have 1000.

My bad, confused the HP with frames

Stow boards are pretty good unless your hitting things with them, my protective RV ring stops that from happening.

So apparently instantaneous actions like trying to throw a nonexistent item increment the timers on explosives.

On a completely unrelated note, here’s my new and improved vehicle, rebuilt entirely from scratch:

It’s two tiles longer so it’s a bit of a pain in the ass to get through cities now, but it’s still better than an army truck. So far I’ve added:

[ul][li]a nice big armored ram[/li]
[li]one extra gas tank (mounted well away from anything important), for a total of three[/li]
[li]two extra storage batteries, for a total of four (plus a truck battery way up front)[/li]
[li]two extra solar panels, for a total of six[/li]
[li]foot pedals[/li]
[li]the other three crafting stations (forge, chems, FOODCO kitchen)[/li]
[li]a tracking device[/li]
[li]entirely too much armor[/li][/ul]
I’ve also:

[ul][li]replaced the two internal boards with stow boards[/li]
[li]moved the secondary controls to the center so I can actually drive from there if I need to[/li]
[li]replaced the rear door with two side doors[/li]
[li]moved the floodlight forward so it shines straight out the back doors (VERY useful at night!)[/li]
[li]relocated the V6 to the rear; it’s now beneath the bed[/li]
[li]generally shuffled things around for better survivability[/li][/ul]

Edit: Not ten seconds after writing this, I drove into a minefield and died.

You poor sod.

alas, it was not to be.

So are stow boards the current exception to the rule, or have other parts been changed as well?

Rivet added a “Cargo Carrier” space that holds 1000, I plan to (at some point…) rebalance the whole damn vehicle system

4 water tanks
5 storage batteries
2 solar panels
5 floor trunks
RV kitchen
FOODCO kitchen
welding rig
fully hard plated
mounted NX-17 charge rifle

Ah. I see you’ve been doing some changes. Looks a lot better, but there’s still some stuff to be done.

 • You used superalloy plating. There’s nothing wrong with that, but if you’re going for maximum durability, hard plating is the only way to go. Superalloy is about the same as steel, except much lighter.

 • Those solar panels on the side, though reinforced, still represent some risk. Solar panels, even when reinforced, are pretty fragile and are best moved away from the direct sides. Consider moving them inwards.

Apart from that, looks very nice. Nicely compact.

A small, bare bones, nimble thing I use for schlepping small stuff to and fro main construction areas and homes.
Steel plating, quarter paneling, 29" wide wheels, a single box for storage. One 2.8l inline-4 engine, one large electric motor. 3 gas tanks, one storage battery. One solar panel, in case I leave the lights (one pointing front, one back) on. Hums along quite nicely… until it runs over a trap or gets hit by just about whatever.

On a general game development note, I can’t even hit a bug without having this vehicle get damaged in some way. That’s pretty much bananas. Bear traps tear it to chunks with very little effort!

Add more plating, shock damage kills small vehicles. Larger vehicles take less shock damage because they have more frames.

Add mass!

Mass is the answer to everything!!
