Too many zambies?

I realized there were hordes of hundreds to THOUSANDS of monsters in my worlds and make the game unplayable. But when i put down the monster density spawner in the world options nothing happens. What am i doing wrong?

Do you have zombie hordes turned on? Easy way to find out is to check your map. It’ll list the hordes as a separate map note, I think the icon will be a flashing Z? You can also check in your world/game settings.

Are your spawn settings set to “static” or “dynamic”?

Which one’s needed for my situation?

The settings should look like this:

Static Spawns: True

Wander Spawns: False

Spawn Rate Scaling Factor: 1.0

This is the “default” configuration, and it should make the number of zombies completely manageable as long as you don’t do something dumb like wander into the city during the day or try to fight an entire cluster of the things on day 1.

This topic is a little old but… Are you spawning in the shelter with surrounded start turned off? If you spawn in town and you have static spawn set, you will be besieged by zombies, unless they are lower than the default and you spawn on the outskirts of town, like a house.
