Tamed dogs attacking friendly NPCs

So uhh, after rescuing this pup for one of the NPCs, he began inexplicably killing off that NPC and other friendly NPCs I came across. What made it even more perplexing was the fact that said friendly NPCs never retaliated. They simply sat around and awaited death. Didn’t make a difference whether the dog was set to attack or passive via dog whistle.

I narrowed down the problem to pathing issues. Whenever the dog’s walking direction is blocked by the NPCs, they automatically attack said NPC. At least I think that’s what’s going on.

EDIT: All NPCs killed were travelling companions. I assume neutral and hostile NPCs get treated the same way but are able to retaliate.

Apologies if this has already been posted earlier.

can confirm

Friendly dog AI probably isn’t calibrated to handle friend-of-friend (the NPC is not hostile to the PC and therefore should not be a target for the dog). Turrets have that going for 'em.

Whistling the dog to Docile ought to prevent attacks.

Ought to… but it didn’t make a difference at the time. He left behind a trail of slaughtered NPCs even when set to docile. D:

Haven’t tested this in the latest versions though.
