Relic? what do they do? help?

recently i found a Relic at the bottom of a cathedral (really just one floor down), what do they do? i can ware it, but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

They satisfy NPC quest-givers who ask for 'em.

Apart from that, nothing much. Cathedrals themselves can make decent bases, though.

Is the cathedral relic static? I was under the impression that all relics were randomized.

Artifacts are randomized, yeah, and they can do some funky stuff.

The cathedral “relic” isn’t an “artifact”; it’s static and doesn’t do anything comparable to what the artifacts do. Fancy stuff helps your morale if you took Stylish at chargen, but otherwise doesn’t do anything.

There is a hidden stat, “luck”, in CDDA. It’s randomised, and affect to many actions (fpr example - craft succes).
If you are wearing relic, you got your luck stat doubled. Some artifacts can affect it, btw.

if you look at the code, you’ll see cathedral relics are very effective against vampires. Simply by existing they make all vampires in DDA vanish. Proof ? NO VAMPIRES WHATSOEVER !!!

To be honest, though. Relics provide a little protection and do not encumber any body part, so you can stack relics for holy protection.

This. The relic may or may not resist acid damage itself, but with those stats it’s not gonna transfer any of its resistance to you.
