Most annoying dead ever!

I was just driving around town in my secondary car raiding gas stations on the 54th day of the apocalypse and suddenly BAM. Dead. Apparently a Flaming Eye shot his light beam at me and the car exploded. I was under the impression that the light beam had been removed in 0.C!

I no longer even feel like playing, completely random dead after several hours of work on that character -.-

Turn off autosave and just reload when dumb shit happens. I’ve never understood the roguelike ethos of replaying the early game every single time something crits you or something wacky happens. “Save early, save often” used to be the mantra in RPGs.

Eye beam is removed in experimentals. Stable 0.C still has it.

Ah, delicious. I still wish the eyes could use their eyebeam in other situations, like when you’re on foot. Blasting you in a vehicle is horrendous, but no deadly eyebeams at all seems like a bit heavy a tweak.

Well, no permadeath defeats the purpose of playing RLs, but this time I don’t feel like beginning anew and just created a new character teleported to my base and replicated my stuff via wishing. I hate one turn deaths in RLs. Cata seems to have acquired several of those since the last time I played, Burning Eyes are far more common, Hulks and Shocker Hulks I don’t remember existing, Chicken Walkers (the red Rs) and Tank Drones are deadly and common.

Or you could join the dark side and become a horrible savescummer like I often do. ;w;

how do you people always run into chiken walkers and tanks?
i have been playing a ton of time … and i have yet to encountere a 3rd tank drone.

Been a while since I’ve encountered one. Last time I did, well…that was when I discovered the virtues of putting fuel tanks in the BACK of my tank.

Dont know, but i encountered 2-3 tanks and Chickens on a same Run (in about 4 cities).

One chicken almost killed me. It was waiting outside a house entrance and as soon as I opened the door it shot. Fortunately, he was so close to the door that when it shot, the blast killed it but i survived xD pretty funny.

This makes me insanely happy.
If I see one floating eye thing, everything gets destroyed, it ends up destroying the building it spawned in, every vehicle in the town is blown apart, all the buildings are falling apart.

Small note on the removal. The eye beam still hits you with teleglow, it’s just that it no longer annihilates everything between the eye and you, and if you can’t see the eye you get messages about feeling watched or something similar instead.

Just don’t wear two pairs of socks next time you’re a Day-10 survivor.

This just happened to me.

Flaming eye, piercing beam, through walls, blows up the gas tank of my heavily-armored vehicle for an instadeath. Not sure I’ve ever been this annoyed at a death before.

As a general rule I don’t like playing “experimental” versions of games but this time I will do so because it’s either that or quitting the game entirely.

You were missing so much fun stuff anyway. <3

I definitely prefer the experimental versions. A lot of BS has been removed and the BS that remains is slowly being de-BS’d. It’s a gradual process.

Just need to make sure you read the change log first…
