Short answer: No.
Long answer: it’s better than the old system. it works just fine when you actually understand it. It prevents the major abuse/idiocy the previous system allowed.
Hunger system tutorial: Eat approximately 2500-3000 calories per day (it can vary depending on player activity level) divided into however many meals you like. IGNORE messages about being hungry or peckish. Check @ screen for your current weight (stored calorie count). If @ screen says Overweight eat less (or even zero) calories per day until it says normal. If you get a message about “your stomach feels so empty” (this means you have passed below 80% of your starting 55k calories) then eat MORE calories each day until you see your are Overweight.
Stay between those conditions (overweight or ‘stomach feels empty’) and you never need to worry.
