How did you last die?
After having many survivors dying during city foraging, decided to start my new character with a different objective, the forest. So, i get my backpack and go north, grabbing what i can find at the underbrushes. Strings, rocks… in the way, two cougars start trying to get a piece of my legs, but a few sticks and stones threw at them keep both at bay. All looked well.

And then, a jabberwock appears.

I ran hard through most of the forest, hoping to outrun it. Thanks to a small horde of common zombies, lots of trees and Parkour Expert, i suceeded… to die in the hands of a zombie dog.

Today’s lesson: don’t matter what you find in the forest, STAY IN IT.
You know, I have only found a wild* jabberwock once back in 0.9…

*Means that without the NPC quest spawning one directly on you. (Shortest two minutes out of the shelter yet…)

Was raiding a small village-sized town and noticed that lag was getting bad. As I approached an abandoned house, I realized that the entire building was filled, as in, every single space inside completely packed wall to wall, with blobs. They had smashed out a wall and started to bounce out into the street. The lag got progressively worse – 5 to 10 seconds each turn – so I decided the best way to handle this was to kill all the blobs. I mean, they’re blobs, how hard could it be?

Several hundred turns later lag has gotten even worse, I am completely surrounded on all sides 20-deep by blobs of varying sizes, have a focus of 0, and am starving to death from blasting them with chain lightning. My melee weapons are dull and half-broken, I’m out of ammo for my pistol, and all I have left is my finger laser. I manage to fight my way into a corner of the house where I only had to face four at a time and started pewpewpewing them… and start a fire. The entire building burned inside of ten turns and collapsed on top of me, killing me.

Death by lag. I would never have tried it if I hadn’t been facing an hour+ slog trying to get far enough away from the lag to put it outside my reality bubble.

I was doing very well, I was essentially surviving and then some, and there wasn’t a zombie that could stop me.

I went on a gasoline run, and I emptied out a pump. I put the gas cans back into the wheelbarrow.
Then it struck me, maybe I can dissassemble the pump and get some useful items from it… No, that’s not possible.
Well it’s empty right, so maybe I can just smash it to pieces and get some loot that way?

BOOM!

… Fuck.

It says its empty when you havent activatedthe pumt and/or not payed for the fuel.

Game so lie.
much troll.

It actually did the clank and shudder thing to indicate it was completely dry :stuck_out_tongue:
Apparently the pumps itself are made of nitroglycerin.

Put i seen a zombie break it and nothing much happened

They’re most dangerous when they’re empty. It’s why mechanics actually fill gas tanks full before working on them. Fumes will ignite and explode. A full tank of gas might burn, but it won’t explode.

Death by tank drone, again.

Driving down the road at the military truck’s maximum speed of 80km/h during the day, I encountered one of these guys at a roadblock. Out of all the bad options available, I chose to veer off the road and drive away across the field. A volley of about a dozen grenades slamming into the side of the truck put an end to that escape attempt.

Yeah, next time just ram the thing. Used to do decisive damage before the drones got upmassed, probably still better than trying to dodge in something that large/slow.

My 3 season old char with a bunch of skills and a LOAD of stuff was innocently standing by a electric car, stripping it from solarpanels, when a random NPC walked up and put him on fire. My char died on the spot.

GOT DAMMIT!!!

40 days of survival. 9 in archery. Was going really fast on my bike in the twilight. Saw a car wreckage too late. Pressed s for handbrake. Slided into the wreck. BOOOOM! 664 pain, raging fire everywhere torso and head at 0 hp.

Ripe in peas gg no re Raptor (711 kills.)

UNDEAD POUNCERS
ZOMBIE DOGS
FERAL HUNTERS

Basically anything I can’t outrun. When I see one of these 3 fuckers, I go all “to hell with stealth, I want it dead more than I’m afraid of the hordes” and blast them from both barrels.

My last survivor got fairly powerful, and decided to take on a town’s worth of undead with his katana.

While I made short worn of the undead, the resident tank bot had other plans.

You would think the character would jump out of the way, or at least have the tankbots carpet grenades have 3 or 4 turn delay.

Weapon systems like that are built so it’s munitions explode on impact once the minimum arming distance is achieved

My National Guard build ( closest to active duty I could find ) was all decked out but only had a combat knife to fight and a while proceeded to tear me apart in a matter of 20 turns. Never liked wolves, I perfer bears.

Decided to stop lurking, and post something :).
My most recent character died from being gunned down by a mil-spec turret. He was infected, with no antibiotics, on 20-ish pain, so with like 30 or so Molotov cocktails, I ran through a town, closest to me, that had no pharmacies. I then proceeded down a road with some forests on either side, until I came close to a military outpost, where I met my fate of being killed to one burst of a mil-spec turret.

first aid kits cure infection

Thanks :).

Ya I know, I just forgot that I was infected, and didn’t treat it fast enough. I’ve started to carry first-aid kits, and generally checking if I got bitten after battling with some zombies.
