How did you last die?

As I was approaching a military bunker with my ultra-mutant suddenly 2 turrets spawn right next to me. At that point I manage to get away and loop all of the way around the bunker to the other side where my car was parked when suddenly 2 more turrets spawn on that side, shoot my car to pieces, and then kill me. Damn RNG for spawning. :stuck_out_tongue:

My longest lived character committed suicide by mininuke, two weeks shy of lasting two game years. He had been on a road trip in a custom built vehicle, seeing how far he could get before his inevitable demise. The save folder reached 73.4mb, but Iā€™m not sure how that translates to map area explored.

The last town he came across was the largest Iā€™ve ever seen in game. Rather than go around I decided to plow through, which normally means some minor repair work on the other side. This time we encountered some flaming eyes in the middle of town. They blinded him and the vehicle slammed into a building.

A desperate escape attempt was made, but not long after that the engine conked out. I tried to run for a bicycle Iā€™d seen nearby, but I couldnā€™t quite get away. The only thing left to do was to try out the mininuke I found in a FEMA camp nearby - another first for me. Slightly disappointed it didnā€™t get all the zombies around me, but a fun thing to see.

Anyway, final kill count: 2373

Only one turret kill?

As for me, I was carrying a Marlin39A with a underslung grenade launcher for when you need more power than a .22. I also use the launcher to break in labs and stuff like that. Anyway, my deathwagon was stuck in a lab after a heavy collision, so I used the launcher to bring down a couple walls and get my baby out. I then spent some time doing repair work, and a spider used that to sneak behind me.

No problem I think, ā€œIā€™ll just dispatch it like the thousand of spider I dispatched earlierā€. And I promptly shot it, expecting to down it with a .22 LR right between itā€™s 8 eyes. Except I was still in grenade launch mode. And using grenade in close quarter combat is really, really dumb.

Yeah. I only encountered them in labs, and I normally avoid them if I donā€™t see anything in the rooms worth taking. I always get a turn to close the door before they start firing. One time while I was carrying loot back to the stairs, a new turret popped up in a room Iā€™d already cleared. I donā€™t know how that happened, but it shot me through the doorway on my third or fourth trip. I had to take revenge on it; it was a matter of principle.

My save was on a flash-drive. It died. Now it only wants to reformat. perhaps i can salvage it with a quick reformat and data recovery program.
I remember the first time I died in Cataclysm before it was C:DDA. I decided to try to kill the first thing I saw, which was a squirrel. Low to-hit made me miss every time, and somehow the squirrel gained hostility towards me rather than fear. It was consistently hitting 1s on me and chased me into a forest where I got boxed in by trees.
Something like this:
7 77
7@7
7 r 7

It killed me slowly. I didnā€™t manage to hit it once.
Suggestion, make fleeing units (including player) gain dodge skill, making attacking units (including player) reduced dodge skill. Squirrels would work like that.
Also did you try throwing stuff at it? Those tend to strike true on squirrels.

I had just cleared the north part of the town I started near in static mode, and I was re-purposing an electronics store into a base. I got very hungry, and I had some meat that I needed to cook. Being lazy, I thought some sticks inside a library (it was raining) would be easy enough to cook and get out before the entire place burned up. I got through one piece of meat, then suddenly the fire just erupted somehow, and I couldnā€™t get away from it without moving through fire, and I couldnā€™t get away or into the rain, then my very good Spring Day 10 character died.

:frowning:

Last death was caused by plowing into a vinebeast on a motorbike and faceplanting on the asphalt at 200 kph.

Death before that was the same thing, except with a giant slug.

This game Iā€™m not using a motorbike.

Did the seatbelts you installed on the motorbike help?

Seatbelts are for dorks.

Modded in a trapā€¦

bloody traps are buggy/ hard to add correctly. Slowing something down is not supposed to cause a nuclear explosionā€¦

Inactive turret? Sweet!
sets up turret outside of base
[turret is hostile!]

Ummā€¦ turrets do pop up, I think. Worse thing is when they shoot right away. I learned a lesson once (even without kevlar) but the second time it got me. Guess the pain-alties on my reflexes took their toll, so the turret cut me in two as soon as I opened that door.
The good thing happened last time - I had just started anew, got some basic stuff and have found a perfectly isolated cave. I had nothing to push away a throng of angry sewer rats that were chasing me for my belly button.

Cook meat in shelter,
leave and die by zombie -
next char on fire.

Crashed my custom school bus with all my supplies into the ocean. I committed suicide. but i had a backup so its all good

found a mansion with a great helm and platemailā€¦the day before I raided a pawn shop and picked up a morning star.

4 hulks and the entire town later I was finally killed off by a wolf spider.

I didnā€™t grab a screenie of the death screen but it was almost 100+ zombies with no recovery timeā€¦made me feel like a total bamf dropping that star on some skulls.

I plan to do that again but with a cybernetic mutant knight from hellā€¦the first was a day 3 guy >.>

Pro Tip : donā€™t set up a land mine when the intended target is near you.

I died because a subway station is flamibleā€¦

If you see fungal thingies, STAY FAR AWAY, even if it means: I have to drive like 30 miles just to find another bridge!

Was a nice slow death, coughing spores, getting beaten by fungal youngsters while sleeping, then fungal crap bursting out of my hands ā€¦ and well, with both arms broken thereā€™s not much fun left. I wonder where all the hospitals are, NEVER found one so far.

I last died trying to escape a hospital, I searched it pretty thoroughly but didnā€™t find whatever it is that regenerates limbs, I searched maybe 10 different towns before I found one and even that was probably fairly good luck.
