Gods of the Cataclysm (Challenge Thread)

SSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!

Sweet, you’re a god now. Name and sphere?

Subject Nine - God of Chaos

For the install every bionic milestone, Can I not install redundant cbms (Power armor Mk I and MK II) and the ones that destroy my arms (Fusion Blaster, Laser Gatling)?

EDIT: J-9 is no longer possible, cannot spawn an enemy on top of you.

I was thinking about a challenge/milestone that involves morale. Something like
achieve 20 different morale penalties/bonuses or get your morale up to X / down to X for Y amount of time.
Not capped that I’ve ever heard of.

Down would be way too easy - kill a friendly NPC for an instant -500 on top of whatever you’ve already got.

And up would be almost as easy, and basically be an exercise in collecting all the different kinds of candy and good booze.
Then show how high you can get and set a base measurement. Most challenges aren’t really challenging but tedious (collecting, prepping) anyway.
Well, getting crazy high might be hard (how fast can you eat? That’s going to be the limit), but the lower end cap is basically, “How many NPCs can I get following me and then kill all at once?” At -500 a pop, even on 0.03 NPC spawn, I’ve had as many as 8 followers, so that’s -4000 right there…
Yeah, can be kind of easy to get ludicrous high morale if you know what you’re doing.

Can turn you into a demigod for a brief moment. Really brief.

As someone who has never really gotten to a late-stage game alive before, this attempt PROBABLY wont succeed, but I feel I should at least give these things a try. And so I submit my first successful challenge: Eating a Hulk.

Now excuse me whilst my survivor goes and crawls into somewhere safe to recover from the horrific food poisoning he is now suffering from.

Survivors will be shot, and sent off with a stern warning. I think the poisoning is a stern warning.

Drift Challenge…

That was really fun to watch.

Another challenge falls to my intrepid survivor: The slaying of a fungal spire without environmental protection!

Proof of no environmental prot. I removed all my gear with prot before cycling up

My plan was simple: Pile up pipe bombs next to the fungal wall, use a molly to set fire the area and thus detonate the pipe bombs. Simple!

The molly is thrown.

And then nothing much happened. It turns out pipe bombs dont detonate in fire as expected. At this point I grabbed a few of my backup plans (2 incendiary grenades) to see if a more intense fire would work. It didnt set off the pipe bombs, but it did burn down the fungal walls. At this point I lit and threw a spare pipe bomb I had on me, and then shot my bow at the spire until it died (and before the walls rebuilt).

Lesson learned: plans involving explosives are well and good, but always keep your bow on you.

ok, images are way too small, need to fix that. Bear with me.

EDIT: Done.

Well, that makes two challenges down. Think I might go drink a jug of bleach for my next one. That doesnt sound too hard. Does it have to be done in one sitting, or am I meant to do it slowly over a day or two?

EDIT2: Well, on the way back home I accidentally drove my bike over a landmine I didn’t notice in time in the dark of the night. I survived just fine, the bike’s a bit fucked though. I need a new wheel and control system, at the minimum. Ah well, it has served me well this night.

i didn't read ALL the comments earlier (cuz I I'm lazy), but explosions are glorious! So, while it does not need to be a mininuke exactly, all the challenges should include something blowing up. (possibly yourself)
Maybe some sort of challenge involing beating a hulk to death within the time frame of a grenade blowing up? Ooh, drive 100mph, do that time thingy until you reach the hulk, and beat it to death before your car flaming wacks you!
If not that, then something else with fire and things going BOOM. Maybe building a wooden mansion, lighting it on fire and running away without any boosts or fire protection? Wear very heavy footwear or something like that to slow you down, but wear nothing else. No mutations or bionics either!

And here is another challenge: get 10+ followers, equip them with op gear, have them surround you, strip to your boxers, and then make them hostile by throwing rags at them! Then survive all those weapons by fighting, not with your hands, but with filthy socks! Maybe the stench will kill them! Or not. (At least i think you can do this type of thing, never aggravated one of my own followers except for when I accidentally got them lit on fire from a badly-aimed Molotov cocktail...
Maybe add and explosive somewhere into the mix of followers, (if you give them all mininukes to throw that would be interesting seeing as they actually can throw grenades and stuff, however I'm not that familiar with mininukes and if they properly count as a grenade.)

Another Challenge falls. This time, I drank an entire jug of ammonia. Took me about a day, including waiting for the nausea to pass long enough to quench my thirst from my barrel of clean water, and then a bit for the liquid to settle so as not to be thrown up, but I didn’t move from the spot until the entire jug was emptied.

3 Down. Two to go (and the milestones. Those are trickier.)

Those are great.
How did you make them? Just screen capture?

I just punched a tank drone to death. I just PUNCHED a TANK DRONE to death. I am never going to get tired of repeating that to myself.

Conditions are as follows. The tank drone, somehow, got itself stuck in a hole it created ages ago when I first ran into it. I recently found it by investigating said hole and finding it within. Then I decided to hell with everything, I gotta try.

So yeah, got into melee range immediately since there was basically no room to maneuver in this hole. It flamethrowered me, I kept punching it, turning on my adrenaline pump. I could only hurt it on a crit, but I COULD hurt it, so I kept swinging. I had to stand directly in the fire in order to reach the machine. It kept up the fire, I kept burning. Slowly, my HP bars started decreasing. My legs broke first, but I kept swinging. Then went both arms, somehow I kept swinging. The drone finally fell with my torso and head HP at /. I punched a tank drone to death.

Not sure if this counts for the challenge because I got to close to melee without having to avoid the main gun, but if it does, that is 4 challenges down. This was done with Unarmed and Melee skill of 6, base Str of 12, plus andrenaline raising that a bit, using brawling, without time dilation, or any mutations/bionics improving my damage. For complete openess, I DID have Cloaking System active for the first turn or so (from back when I was trying to run away from it) before I remembered to turn it off. the VAST majority of the fight occurred after turning it off, though (all but about 1 damage, iirc)

Annnnd the 5th challenge falls. Punched a lone shocker brute I found in a field to death, no electrical immunity.

Unfortunately, I am nowhere near any of the milestones yet, so this may take me a while.

One thing I would like to ask: regarding the “install all bionics” milestone. Would it be ok to install all the ones except the ones that require me to chop off a limb? Perhaps as long as I do collect (though not install) those ones as well?

Well shit, I didn’t expect things to happen in this thread while I was gone. I’m briefly back so I’ll answer some questions.
For the install every bionic milestone, Can I not install redundant cbms (Power armor Mk I and MK II) and the ones that destroy my arms (Fusion Blaster, Laser Gatling)?

Nope, gotta do every single one. I think Laser Gatling is new because I’ve never heard of it. Sucks about the J-9, I guess you just spawn the last one off to the side now.

noice

That’s fucking awesome, have a free challenge! Can you control multiple vehicles at once now?

Nope, gotta chop off limbs. I chopped off my limb, you gotta do it too.

Currently about a quarter of the way to $1000000, and have most of a set of fancy clothing (including a watch worth $22000. Still lacking a monocle though). I have learned a lot of combat styles, but I don’t actually know how many are available via books in the current game… does anyone have up to date numbers on that?

Getting a threshold would be pretty easy for me to do now (I have all the stuff required to pump out mutagen) I am just uncertain what to go for. Will probably default to Alpha, but as I’ve never made it far enough to go for a threshold, I don’t really know what most of them DO.

Skills at 40 are much, MUCH harder than they used to be. This is miles off - my highest skill is a mere 11.

Not seen a single Granade of any sort yet.

No way am I cutting an arm off after finding an A7 laser rifle, so that milestone is no longer an option.

Rolling fortress is a maybe, one day. Currently just using an extremely heavily armoured, but quite small, little rolling brick I built.

I don’t think skills at 40 or Granades are possible any more. Skills cap at 10 now and I think BUFFS!! was removed.

Not all skills cap at 10, though most crafting skills do. Some combat skills can go past 10 (example: I have 11 throwing right now), but I dont really know how much farther you can get. I know dodge gets limited by your enemy’s skill level, so I guess offensive skills might be limited at some point by enemy dodge skills?
