I wrote somewhere already about driving consuming focus way too fast, but i wanted to say that other occupations also do it unrealistically fast.
Shooting, for example, takes anywhere from 1 to 5 points of focus per shot! I can’t stay focused enough to unload a full magazine with some weapons!! This is way too fast imho, it should be 1 point per 4-5 shots, if not even less.
Or melee fighting. With a martial art (all of which have some kind of focus training afaik) focus should be drained a lot slower than now. As it is right now, if i want to keep focus above 100, i need to kill up to 5 creatures and then wait for it to come back up (with a katana, which slices through them like through butter!!).
As i understand focus, it’s entirely possible to be left out of stamina, but to still keep focused, with some training. And 5-6 melee + a martial art sounds like enough training to me to keep focused a lot more than now.
Stamina seems to be working fine, draining not very fast, although i think i could have more stamina with 17 strength and indefatigable trait.
The whole point of focus is to throttle your ability to level your skills as quickly as you can perform actions, and give meaning to activities that make your character happy.
You haven’t made a case for why focus running out is a bad thing, that’s what it’s there for.
Not sure if this is relevant, but are you aware that you can disable training skills? Go to the @ menu, tab to skills, highlight a skill, and hit, er either space or enter, it will toggle the bolding on the skill, if it’s not bolded, you don’t spend focus when practicing that skill, which means it won’t advance, but it will still prevent rust.

I play with rust turned off. I know it’s possible to disable skill training, might be worth it for skills that are at level 10 already, since, as i understood, skill levels above 10 don’t affect anything, right?
Well, i understand focus as the ability to stay focused on something you do and it’s impact is the ability to learn things, i.e. train skills. My character is always happy (freshly shaven and hair cut and on mp3 diet). I understand that the training should be altered, but it’s just too damn slow atm, especially for some skills, and focus draining so fast makes it even slower.
