It looks like this version is trying to load .wav files which don’t exist, and is spamming the debug log into space. The catasounds mod I have only has .ogg files.
=/ Nevermind this; I went to https://github.com/vulkans22/CataSounds and downloaded the newest version - it looks like the files got changed and are all wav now.
It looks like the .json files on that repo are out of date though.

Scroll down a little and grab the ‘extract2catafolder.zip’ file put together by Midayachi. It’s a better laid out version of vulkans pack with all the correct .json files included. Works great.

I tried your solution and it seems to work so far. Had to delete all of the old sound .json files though.

A quick heads up if you use the latest experimental:
The most recent experimental changes the way sounds are located to make creation of soundpacks easier. You will need to rearrange things manually until they update the soundpack. I made a quick walkthrough here: http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=10390.msg260055#msg260055
