Blaster Arm: Worth it?

So in this game I’ve started collecting a lot of CBMs, and I love them. But while I install most of them without giving it a second though, I’m not so sure about the Blaster Arm. Sure, they’d be perfect as an heavier counterpart to my finger-mounted laser, to take down bigger foes, but are they worth not being able to fire anything bigger than a handgun? What do you think?

Depends if you find ammo for assaultrifles/shotguns or batteries more, I havent really used bionics myself…

Batteries? What for? I use the Metabolic Interchange, with my laser finger, integrated toolset and a pot, keeping and endless supply of cooked meat is easy.

Then yeah…It sortve is worth it isnt it? Who cares if you cant fire a shotgun, you gots a LAZER

The first time I tried Android perk I started with Fusion Blaster arm and Metabolic Interchange.

It was almost too easy. I could simply walk around blasting everything with impunity, occasionally retreating for a snack.

(I ended up dying while off-roading in my motorcycle, hitting a land mine, and then getting surrounded by worms. Probably could have made it out but I was a little overconfident.)

The arm uses rifle skill and can do hundreds of damage when it scores a headshot. I took down quite a few zombie hulks with only 2-3 blasts. Being unable to equip anything larger than a handgun was irrelevant.

HOWEVER, it also limits your ability to carry large objects in your hands, I think. For example I couldn’t carry a big tire around anymore, I seem to recall. But overall, still worth it, if you can power the thing. It uses 2 power per blast.

The fusion blaster is certainly a trade-off. It makes you nigh unstoppable in combat, provided you do not encounter overwhelming numbers. On the other hand, it severely limits your options out of combat. I personally prefer the fusion gun for my heavy hitting weapon because while it has some weaknesses, the flexibility makes up for it.

Still, if you want to go all trigger happy, the fusion blaster is well worth it.

When you have metabolic interchange with one of these, who needs things like Assault Riffles when you have your very own hand arm cannon with infinite ammo .

Zombie Scientists actually do this.

xD i heard they did, ive never actually seen them though on account of me not going near science labs

I only rare run into zombie scientists even in labs…

I’ve seen quite a few of them at FEMA camps.

Also I was wondering about Fusion Arm CMBs too. Nice to know you can’t carry things like tires for them. So if you want to work on vehicles you basically have to somehow have enough volume in your inventory or drive your vehicle over to it?

I’m not sure the carrying stuff thing is true, actually.

As far as i can tell, Zombie Scientists are guaranteed at FEMA camps, and very rare in labs, oddly enough. (out of about 50+ rooms there was 3 zombie scientists in one of them.)

on-topic though, I’ve never come across a blaster arm CBM, but i guess if you can keep up the power supply it could be useful :stuck_out_tongue:

The tire thing isn’t entirely true. If you drop your inventory and have two backpacks and a rucksack or two on you’ll be able to pick up multiple tires. Unless it specifically prevents you from picking em up. If you really can’t you could always just temporarily attach them to your vehicle. (like at the rear) and then detach them when you get back to base.

It depends, how large is your power supply. That thing eats power like mad, and if you have anything less than 10, you are really just wasting your time.

Also, not recommended if you ever want to go all samurai or medieval knight on those zombie bastards.

I don’t think the fusion blaster arm stops you carrying anything in this version, it’s supposed to but I can still fire rifles and pick up aluminium kegs (nm got mixed up with volume and weight :stuck_out_tongue: ), I can try and find a tire and pick it up as well but I think I will be able to.

I have strength 15 though so maybe I’m just buff enough to pick this all up with one hand!

EDIT:

Can’t lift up engines so guess it’s a weight thing, but rifles are still fine.

Yeah, I just found a fusion blaster arm too. I installed it and it works. But I can still wield and fire rifles normally. Something’s definitely up here.

I did trigger a “you can’t carry that with one arm!” message somehow, but I forgot what it was that did it - some large object like a keg or a steel frame.

My power supply is around 120 at the moment, it should be okay.

Personally, I prefer the laser finger.

You may be megaman, but I’m Frieza. Fear my supernova.

Like I said, what you can pick up is limited to your strength AND your carry volume. I try to pick up a steel plate and it says it weighs too much. I put on two ruck sacks, two backpacks, two messenger bags, two pouchs, and two leather pouches, and I can pick the thing up no problem. Try this with the blaster arm. I haven’t used one myself.
