As far as I can tell, the only penalties to having broken arms is not being able to hold things that are too large in your hands. I mean, I guess that makes sense, buuuuut…it’s really quite tedious. I shouldn’t be forced to sit around and physically not be able to do something as menial as fill a jerrycan out of a pump because I can’t equip it. (A duffel bag does avert this, but it seems like a silly workaround.)
Broken bones hurt. Like…a lot. Manipulating something with a broken arm, or being struck when you have a break, is excruciating. Trying to move too fast and stimulating a broken leg is also quite painful.
I feel like there should be a ‘soft cap’ for breaks as opposed to hard limitations (you can’t move above a certain speed, can’t hold x volume in hands, ect). Fighting with a break is asking for a very hard jolt of pain and moving too fast with a broken leg is asking for a painful reminder to slow down - you CAN push yourself, THEORETICALLY, but doing so risk debilitating consequences. Anything better than sitting around for a week waiting for the bones in my arm to grow back so I can hold a jerrycan and actually fill the stupid thing at a gas pump.
Also, infections have a base amount of pain that must be present at all times. Why not breaks? Those are a much bigger deal than anything but the most serious of infections, if it disables an entire limb. It would give pain medicines a real use besides chugging in the middle of a fight or yanking something that’s too heavy and you shouldn’t really be able to move.
