Wired gates bashing inconsistency

Bashing closed wired gates yields only scrap metal and wires (bashed about 10 of them so I’m pretty sure tha’s all you can get). Bashing opened (lockpicked) wired gates also adds pipes to the list.
So, could someone explain how would a lock prevent getting any pipes from bashing the gates IRL?

e: also, they are non-deconstructible for some reason. I have probably all the tools that exist in the game, and quite good at fabrication so the problem is not in the lack of tools or skills.

Probably just an oversight. But if it is intentional, I’d imagine that bashing through a fence with a heavy duty lock, I’d just start smashing up the actual pipe frame to rip off the chunks of wire. So I doubt the piping would survive.
