What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

In the previous case, was feeling lazy so I decided to torch the place to kill the zombies there.

On the recent crash, it’s due to a NPC spawning and deciding that the molotov he spawned with was the best item to use in the vicinity of the office.

That is why i have npcs on .1

NPCs with molotovs or flamethrowers of any kind are just so stupid - them having survived long enough to meet you breaks believability more than any other thing, as they generally kill themselves as soon as there’s anything to even think about trying to kill, and they will almost always take the nearest structure (or 2… or 3…) with them.

Alas. Nine lab basements, and what awaits at the end? Room with nether creatures. No blank bodies to harvest for human flesh, so I just used the computer to terminate the creatures.

'course, it’s not all bad. Got quite a bit of human corpses to harvest, and even though it’s not an ice lab (and thankfully it’s not an ice lab since it’s 9 basements big) it’s already mid-winter so rotting is not an issue.

Found two books I haven’t found yet in this run. Lab journal Herrera (finally!) dropped by a zombie scientist, and that book with the recipe to make modified mininukes and the mininuke launcher. All that’s left I think in terms of books that haven’t been read yet by my survivor is SICP, the DoubleTech design binder, the martial arts book for Pankration (the other martial arts books that don’t spawn don’t count), and the anarchist’s version of the AAA guide.

And at this point, I’m half-convinced that the H&K Railgun is a myth. If a lab has a barracks, there’s generally a good chance for its ammo to spawn, and sometimes its magazines. This lab I found 100 12mm railgun ammo, but still no railgun.

Hell, found an inactive laser turret here.

I found a honey ball at an anthill. Like, seriously, first time ever. I know from way back that there’s an item you can craft called honeygold brew, and it uses honey balls for it. First time I ever saw this item spawn.

SO sad that we cannot get honey from any other source. But then again royal honey is kinda the shit.

Speaking of royal jelly, the adjusted spawn rate has hit bee hives hard. Found like maybe 2 royal jelly in the hive. Way back when 1x item spawn was actually like 4x, I got them at least on double digits on a single hive. Low double digits, but it’s a lot more than two.

Honey combs fared just as well. Got around 80, though maybe half of those was from the drops of a scarred zombie.

Oh well, at least I got Apis. Bringing her corpse back to base. No butchering. Just want her to decorate the floor of the ice lab.

What’s Apis?

A mutated human posing as the queen of mutated bees.

I see. I don’t raid hives that often so I have never seen one. Usually because wasps are assholes.

Huh. Can flaming eyes cause mutation? Or the random teleporting effect that sometimes happens due to a flaming eye?

On one hand, very quick pain recovery devolved into just pain recovery. Since my survivor is deadened, it doesn’t matter. Also got fleet footed evolved into road runner, so all in all it’s all good.

All that happened is that my survivor suddenly teleported, then a few turns later I get a message about her shuddering, then mutation.

Don’t know I typically kill flaming eyes as soon as possible due to horrible memories of flaming eyes essentially lasering my mobile bases nearly into 2 and having them be the sole reason mansions collapse on top of me.

.wolgelet s’tI

teleportitis, fungal infection, mutation

Yeah. Old-school flaming eyes were real dangerous. The new ones at worse would cause fungal infections (even if the no fungal monster mod was in place).

Yeah, was thinking it was that, though I think this is the first time it actually caused mutation on my survivor.

I eat and drink, but my companions are thirsty and hungry.

So far, got around maybe 20 NPC slaves. Giving them all decent armor and melee weapons would be a sight to see, but since NPC needs are on the thought of having to feed them and make them sleep is a nightmare due to how tedious it’ll be.

Really wish one can assign an NPC to hold the food and drink, and when other companions are hungry they’ll go to him/her for food and drink. And a command for them to rest/sleep, since waiting for them to be tired, or having the player character be sleepy while the companions aren’t is also annoying.

I find it easiest to turn of NPC needs and just pretend they scavenge themselves. To much hassle to feed them even if you give them a gallon jug of water and a stack of food.

Hunger and thirst slows NPC but does not kill. NPCs are book readers for me who is illiterate, and are well hid from battle field, so I do not feed them and do not care about their slowness.

I dress them with heels and veils and other impractical equipment.

Do they read skill books on their own accord?

I have two with me at the moment, dressed up in light survivor gear and fire axes. It was a good way to level tailoring and it gives me not squishy chopping machines, I just wish the tactic commands were better.
