What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Does this still happen? There was an attempt to fix it quite a while ago.[/quote]

I haven’t updated in a month (or maybe a bit more), but yes, it’s happening to me. I quit using fencing because of it.

Day 01

My last guy got out of the car to smack around some zombie kids and 12 of them came out of a nearby house. They tore off his armor and ripped him to shreds.

This guy should by all rights be dead. He has no car, and when the sun came up he was in an electronics store looting a much, much needed flashlight.
I ran to an adjacent house, smashing the window and making a real ruckus. Zombies who heard/saw me came in, and I had a lever shotgun from looting a basement. That thing saved my arse, firing shots into zombies and lighting the window frames on fire.

I took a rea beating on my chesty area, and the flames started to spread. Worse, they took off my backpack, and I had to leave most of my hard fought loot behind. But not my steel chunk, my 20-odd 00 shells, and my lever action shotty.
I also took my holster and what ammo I could. I fought hard to keep my plastic bottles and gallon jug of booze.

With the fire picking up and sucking in more zombies, I made my way out of the burning house and into the street. A few stray zombies saw me, but the shotgun isn’t quite as loud as a burning house. Across the street I found my current abode, and Ive done basic inventory management and crafting. North is a second house, and north of that a ways a thrid. Then, a 5-10 minute walk from there is a shelter. Im not in a sewing mood right now, prefering a car to a needle, but I do want to loot it.

It is 0900 on Day 1, and Ive made it over the 6:40 hump. The sun comes up at about 0640 on day 01, and I start at midnight. Most day 01 deaths are before the sun comes up, or during the day, if I am pinned down in the middle of a city.

My game got into one of those random slow-as-shit lag sessions where there seems to be a loop taking all my cpu cycles, so basically i was in the middle of lighting my stove and then did some fancy keyboard work to do my crafting and in the middle of that it lagged and i accidentally lit my guns & ammo dump on fire…i tried to unload my water pack onto it but it exploded immediately in my face twice and killed me and my NPC friend, shit.

On another note, i saw a tagteam of NPC’s taking on a slime pit near my mine base, they were like best bro’s, one had a makeshift machete and the other a trident with blob globs everywhere.

They attacked me and i dispatched them with my trusty rapier, oh and i also found a group of dead stoners that were all carrying marijuana, it looked groovy.

Oh well, time to make a new character, i didn’t go into a single house or lab in my 34 days alive.

Spring, Day 04, 1733

A grenadier sent a grenade hack at me. I mowed him down with my car, but I have the misfortune of still having a grenade hack flying around and no way of killing/disabling it.

Thus, it exploded over my body, and broke my arm. This attracted hordes, and I decided that if the game was going to play cheap so would I. I mowed down 50 zombies this day.

Fuck you game. And now Im going to go into this hospital and look for a Mr Stem.

Picked up a bunch of flintlock guns, and had a bit of fun using them.

Got me thinking, Runed Flintlock guns, Runed as in magic imbuned weapons. Making them shoot really powerful, fire/explosive-like bullets. A gun that looks like a musket but fires like a cannon. Maybe to compliment it Runed plate armor or a Runed Sword. Being able to protect the user from massive amounts of damage or slicing the undead with a flaming rune-imbuned sword.

Could be a good compliment to Random_Dragon’s arcana mod.

We need somebody to take the lead on that since RD took hiatus.

Spring Day 09

I dislocated myself all of 30 tiles west all said and one. After taking a very wide cirular path that left me scratching me head, ending up on the far side of the large city I spawned in, I went further west to find a cute little town with a cute little cave next to it. I decided to keep it, something I havent done in a while. To make way I slaughtered the entire town of zombies, in their various forms. Im getting skilled enough and my armor is decent enough where ever with the aluminum bat, a medium tier weapon, I am doing okay. 4-6 hits a zombie isnt bad, im just used to 2-4. More room for damage and all.

After cleaning it up and picking the house, the reason I decided to keep it; I like the design, clean of goodies and slept. I explored west. Hospital. I noped right around, hoping to avoid spawning hordes of wanderers. I went southeast, a mall. ffs, this place is looking less decent now. Further south of the mall is its main city, so at least the zombies are ties to that framework. To the far south is a road into the woods, and the the north is a cemetery. For whatever reason a ridiculous amount of coats spawn there, despite me nerfing them? idk.

To the west of the cemetery is a prison. I took a beretta and a mossberg in, and played a game of peek-a-boo shotgun with a security bot. They have the night vision in my mod, so I did put on some more chest and head armor, but I was fast enough to not get shot. Having cleared the foyer, I grabbed a nearby Cube Van and made a proper entrance:

See, all you silly buggers are trying to break out of prison, Im breaking in. And its a lot easier to do, I imagine. A few bullets aimed at the eyebot and a few shells at the secubot. Then I drove the perfectly working van in. Took a little bit of lining up, but once I got it in place I floored it and then I simply swilved it around a bit and smashed out the back end so I could get out.

Im still looking for a stupid mechanics book; not finding one. What are the odds I can solder my way up? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t; depends on how nerfed they make the mechanical skill. But theres literally 1 level 0 recipe for it, and that rquires a forge. I might have one? idk, sometimes the runs blend into one another.

BTW, I was wondering how people would want the prison ‘spiced up’ for variety. Nothing obscene, but f people are going to regularly try prison break maybe new layouts or ‘accidents’, (like a rare one where a cube van is spawned in the entrance foyer) would be nice.

The most obvious thing would be turning all the prisoners into clones of themselves that drop prison gear, and adding a guard zombie mon. Maybe a few medical personell, some psychiatrists? Maybe a bible-study room (which, even in prisons, are multi-denomination and used for all the various religions).

I that Mine the sniper from Akame Ga Kill?

I was reading the Esdeath wiki page yesterday and she reminds me of what i read.

Cudgels are pretty nice as a starting weapon, I realize after playing so long. I suppose it’s kinda a tricky choice at the start, volume wise, since you probably don’t have a lot of volume and perhaps a makeshift crowbar can be more useful due to being able to pry stuff.

Still, the cudgel can hit pretty fast and hard.

makeshift crowbar lacks techniques. youll lose a straight brawl with it.

take a weapon to a fight, and a tool on a raid

Just had a great loot run while scavenging wreckage

-Two Rivtech heavy machine guns
-A MOLLE Pack, military rucksack, army pants
-Two army helmets, two pairs of tac-gloves, one pair of combat boots, an MBR vest
-A Rivtech LMG, a LAW, a flaregun and eight signal flares, and four FLASH rockets
-Thermal Dissipation, Chain Lightning, Fingertip Razors, Enhanced Hearing, Offensive Defense System, Sonic Resonator, and Teleportation Unit bionics

All from one wreckage pile

I’m just reporting in that with Pk’s new mod and 5x spawn with hordes turned on, my survivors are getting their asses properly handed to them. I went through a binge session last night and lost a good 20 characters. Also a hell castle was involved. Thanks, that was great.

well shucks, thanks. I try.

If you liked that I have more of it in the link. The meat of the mod has been uploaded to the core game, but some of it, like a hellchurch, has not been added yet. I also have trapdoor spider ambushes and a reworking of zombie burning.

I found out that some funny guy let turrets be active on spawning. hilarious, and nice to see they wait for me to arrive on-site before loosing their loads.

This is in a massive fuckoffbig city. It wont fit onto one computer monitor big. Like I could copy at full scale and frame it and put it on a wall, its so big.

In completely related news, Im adding a mod/supporting a mod to remove the damn redraw between my turns. I dont give 2 shits about watching the moose and rat fight when Im climbing into my car.

Megacities are always fun. Just find a basement to live in and life is good.

cough cough I basically just finished my newest mobile base in my game and figured, i’D show it to you. As you can see, i wanted to make it a bit more…homely, so I made a few custom vehicle parts. Crates and Dressers are basically Cargo Spaces, they are, however, not boardable. You have to walk around them, makes sense I’d say. The Washing machine is little more than a box, with a volume of only 200, and the Shower is the same, but with a volume of 150. To put your soap and your razors in, I guess?
The Toilet is just that, a toilet. No storage volume. I gave it the faucet flag though, so you CAN potentially drink out of it :stuck_out_tongue: Oh, right, Shower, Toilet and Washing machine are made out of Copper Tubings, this made the most sense to me, and I didn’t want to add some kind of Toilet-Item or so, just for this one change.
Oh, one last thing: Of course every single window has a curtain. I know how it feels to shower, when you suddenly realize that you’re being watched by half a dozen Stalker-Zombies. Those Grabbers are the worst, they always want to grope at you shivers

That looks amazing. Did you make those additional furniture parts just for this specific creation, or did you have bigger plans in mind?

Eh, I’m basically dabbling in modding for quite a while now, created a few things for myself, mostly for flavour. That includes a custom weapon, a custom leather cuirass, some custom softdrinks for flavour (basically just variations of already existing stuff.), the vehicle parts I introduced in my last post, and some old german ration packs, because I figured, why shouldn’t I throw random ration packs into the mix. Oh, and a new book, a Diary, with (currently) unlimited uses, and a small morale boost per use. I figured that some survivors would start a Diary, and it would help them cope with everything if they write stuff down. I only use it every now and then, when my current Survivor would use one, for roleplaying purposes mostly.

Don’t forget, it just looks so awesome because I manually changed the MShock Tileset so it supports said mods. Otherwise it would just show some coloured symbols, like in Ascii. Also, I would have thought that I’m not the first one who came up with the idea to make furniture available for vehicles.

RNG has been kind on my character: 3 boxes of iced toast-ems and an ok condition Self-Propelled Howitzer.
