What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

This is the first save in which I’ve ever laid my grubby fingers on a full suit of power armour. (I’ve always been missing the helmet or the suit before.) Is there anything that can hurt a survivor wearing this stuff?

Hard disk drive failure.

Lava. Found that out the hard way…

I think the hulk and brute smashes still can.

Acid, perhaps? That’s been messed with since I tried it, so I don’t know anymore.

I’ve never tested it against the antimaterial turret, but that SHOULD be able to hurt you still - that’s its whole point, penetrating armour.

PA is 90 armor.

so . . . yea.

Antimaterial turrets, hulk smash, intense fire, fatigue, getting swarmed by such a horde you cant get to water.

I think Ive seen PA get damaged in combat before . . .

I dont know what I add myself that can hurt PA . .

Found an interesting ‘large office tower’… that isn’t there.
The only thing there are ledges, leading god knows where, and a stairway that goes down… but it gives you a message that it’s blocked halfway down.
Anyone saw something like this before?
Unfortunately, i don’t have a jackhammer to dig down so i can’t check it out more… but it’s a very curios building - a bug or a feature?

something must have generated under that tower

yea, stairs that go nowhere are because rock is beneath them.

holy blueberries thats been bumped up.

Its day 22, and Ive been reading books in the rain because Im half-slug. I havent been to a city in 20 days, and my partner couldnt machete his way through a paper bag, but does well enough if Im around. Although, there was that one time I saw ant eggs and ran for them like a fool. The ant queen, above us, rained down fiery vengence and then ran off giggling when I took my L-stick to her head. Having just been set on fire and lost most of my non-leather armor I was in no condition to catch her or defend myself from the ants she was running into. But I got her damn eggs, so nyeh.

Weve been hopping from lab to farmhouse, the labs being scouting runs and the farms just places to loot. I have finally ditched the old 8-house city’s 'track’and gotten onto what I presume is a new track.

You know what I mean, the city’s spawn, and then they have roads leading out to satellite areas like farms and antanea towers and whatwhos.

Anyway, so it looks like I wont be crafting that welderrig for a while. I guess I cant complain too too much about that. It is pretty op, and a major reason why vehicle batteries were nerfed. Its all my fault. Partially.

Speaking of, nothing is more entertaining to me than cooking 3 pieces of meat and completely wiping out my unmodified vehicle’s battery by doing so. With 2 storage batteries and 4 solar panels I can keep my fridge on all the time, so A+ to that.

The Tailgator is a mean lean modified car. Ive found humvees, but they have lacked wheels. And Ive put so many batteries into the tailgator I dont know if I want to switch cars before the welder rig comes around.

i decided to swith to gasoline, after two days of driving around my MRCT suddenly runned out of electricity and previously i was able to drive around for weeks without using half of my power

Made a new @ after I seen here that Single Pool is easy mode  Only used the 2 points for each you get for free.

@ : 10/8/8/8 with 2 points in dodge and as trait Packmulle. I think its a great trait early/mid game as you can keep your encumbrance really low.

Spawned in a shelter with 2 small city’s ( 4 to 6 buildings ) and a lab close by. After some talking the starting NPC agree to travel with me , she is carrying a high powered riffle and doesn’t want to use the cudgel I made for her even after I told her not to use her gun. We go to the first village.

On the way to the first city I try to avoid a moose by going tru the woods only to find his mate in those woods. That bastard was hiding behind some trees and jumped on me. Quickly changed my mind and changed the NPC combat rules so she can shoot that damn moose of from me. She did  I have some head trauma (3 yellow bars) but for the rest I am fine.

We reached the first small town with almost no Zeds, cleared it out and do a quick search but not much interesting to find. We head to the second village and the first building is a Gas Station, this time there are some more zeds and most get killed by my companion.

I found a cash card with some cash on it and 2 working cars. A SUV in pretty good shape and a Electric car with 20% charge. I picked the Petrol car as I always do not aware of the doom that is coming for me. Filled her up with the cash card and 2 or 3 cars that have some fuel left. Fuel gauge at 30% or so and I smile when thinking they said this isn’t easy mode.

Day 1, got a working car a decent NPC that joined me and already have plenty of water and some good medical stuff. We load the car up with the goodies we find and head of to see what is around us.

After 3 corners or so we run in a roadblock with a active Tank Drone and some other nasty dudes, I turn the car and move out as fast I can and soon nobody is following us. We past the city we just looted and go the opposite way, Its getting a bit late and the car is not completely sealed,I don’t want to spend the night i it so I give it some more throttle. We doing about 80 KMH when I run in some ants that I try to avoid to hit …

BOOOOOOOM!!! A big fireball, killing both of us instant. The car still intact and running lol. Think I hit a ant right on the fuel tank but I am not 100% sure even after reading the end log. But this was my best death cam yet, The car still running with my dead body in it at 80KMH. I don’t see my just made girlfriend anymore but she was even closer to the fuel tank.

Soon the car start to swerve go off road and try to deforest a forest but the trees win pretty easy as the car disintegrate on the trees, The ants swarm in and start to (eat?) my dead body.

It made me think… Is it possible to drive so fast that the explosion would have missed me?

no.

the game isnt a real motion event. its stop motion.

you stayed still while the explosion happened. and yes, most likely an ant hit the tank. move them in when you make a custom car

[quote=“pisskop, post:11832, topic:47”]no.

When I customize my car I always put the fuel tanks in the back and more inside the vehicle. I also put amour all around /on top it and close it off with a separate heavy door and some not passable walls. Not sure if it would have saved me as it was the first time my fuel tank exploded.

Spring, day 27

I spent the lat day cleaning out the car to make some space. I read old beginner skill books and tossed them, deconstructed electronics, and cooked food into other food. I made maybe 1000 volume to play with, not nearly enough for my hording behaviors. Still, its a start.

I was able to con manhacks, which snuck up on me in my working. I also discovered that, oops, I left in firehack and acidhack recipes. Ive been meaning to make them work, and I saw some code that would allow me to make a custom firehack explosion that was somewhat less ‘op’ than what I was using.

I still have yet to find that grand welder book, but I did find a city. 2, even. Ive scouted around the perimeter of the large one and used a lab computer to see the small one. I removed quick, slimy, and several other traits I picked up for some reason. I forget what trait it was that I said ‘nope’ to, but it was enough to risk and lose perceptive, quick, and -oh, it was tentacle arms. screw those. Now Im default with venomous. Shame I cant spit venom or use it for regular unarmed attacks. Instead Ill just be singing quietly to myself about how Im poison and taint. lol.

So, now I have to maybe read some more and get into town. IVe been getting computer lessons from my NPC friend, who still on occassion loses his machete.

Summer, day 36

My companion is dead.
Well, first, I found out he was a she. Its all the same to me but people seem to care more than I do about it.

Anywho, we searched north of the large city I found, hoping to find a lab to map the middle of the cty for us.
We found a campsite, I added my own touches to the campsite spawn lists, and then we found a road leading to a large suburban area with an unknown city size attached to it and a doomcastle wedged into a pocket. It was utter chaos in the city.

Imps are well more than a match for regular zombies. Brutes and other evolved forms can punch right through the armor of an imp, and that smash attack is easily one of the most effective attacks for ‘slugger’ type HUGE sized monsters. A turret was distracting zombies, and arachnotrons were firing around. I did what I have a tendency to do and stopped to try to loot some choice zombie drops.

While doing so, shady zombies and shockers were flooding into the area as the wandering hordes spawned and came through houses. Arachnotrons kept firing at us from their insane distnaces, and one closed.
The machete armed companion of mine did what melee characters do and tried to slice a steel fucking robot to death. Did not go well, and I was shooting at it with an antique sidearm I found but got distracted by a shocker brute.

The 4 shot lasergun burst of the arachnotron is inaccurate at long ranges, and unlikely to do more than tickle your armor, but at point blank range there’s a lot of problems. My companion was turning into charred swiss cheese in one shot, and I managed to kill the arachnoron, but not before it headshotted me and I caught fire.
Wounded head aside, the serious infighting and noises literally everywhere gives you some security. I was able to patch my face up. I lost my rain hood, but I was still okay. 2 first aids later and Im looting my companion. I didnt take their body because it rots. I would love a burial mechanic. Embalming a body and making a real gravesite would tickle me pink and back, and we were together for over 3 weeks. 3 weeks of actual wilderness survival, as opposed to just building a car or some crap. :frowning:

I found a mechanical mastery book soon after, and ran off to find a quiet place to make my welder. So I lost one friend and gained a military cargo truck and a welder.

if you’re gonna give me a morale penalty for running over innocent people with my armored van, at least let it count as an actual kill too

2 things.

1: I agree having an NPC or NPC:class count would be nice. But it does encourage psychopathia.
2: Talk to them and threaten them before smacking them.

Just had an NPC tell me to “Okay assholethat clear hands up!” then rob me while I stood staring at them in confusion.

Well played, NPC, well played.

The first thing i do when spawning a new character is manually debug the psychopath trait into it.

I figure if NPC’s are broken and i can’t get psychopathy from killing a dozen of them and have to keep suffering, i’ll skip it.

I also find it weird that psychopaths can eat human meat without penalties, that makes no sense at all and is a waste of protein so the trait helps me nom nom nom in peace.

At least with zombie kids you become desensitized after killing a bunch of them.

Unfortunately, that mechanic seems to be mob-specific, so you can kill enough kids to not have to worry about it… then later in the game, when you find another school or park and the kids have evolved into the other forms of kid zombie, you have to deal with it again. Arg.

Oh, and blank bodies and cyborgs, too. Very annoying.
