So after playing several successful games I’ve decided its time to introduce myself in an appropriate fashion by starting a new game and telling you about how its going:
Started as Morris Westbrook an albino hobo on a 5x spawn game with slightly bigger cities on a building on fire. He wakes up 8 AM over a kitchen sink (so I presume he got drunk through all the cataclysm wandered into a random abandoned house and passed out over the sink) surrounded by 4 zombies, a feral runner, 3 fat zombies and a boomer, also the room right next to it is the source of the fire and spewing smoke everywhere. So he does the sensible thing and jumps through the window and starts running barefoot with an open umbrella (to protect him from the sun) through a a 8 map squares wide zombie horde that lies just outside drinking cheap wine and whiskey all the way.
He is chased for an hour and a half miraculously escaping uninjured despite his severe drunkness. He runs to the wilderness until he find a somewhat isolated apartment tower and decides to break a window and enter it to search for even more booze (clothing to protect him from the cold is obviously a secondary concern at best…) there he brawls 7 regular zombies to death and emerges victorious (can’t tell how much drunken master helped but he only has 3 melee and 3 unarmed skill) and proceeds to loot the place with his newfound backpack. Now he finds its time to test his drunken driving capabilities.
Short-term goals: Survive, stay drunk
Long-term goals: Survive, stay perpetually drunk, troglobite mutation, drink all booze that can be found, learn Zui Quan because why not?
And just be to be clear no, I am not gonna heal his addiction, in fact I am gonna try to remain with drunk modifier at all times.
Meanwhile I may later post a few pics once a construction project of mine with another character is completed.
So…hello everyone
Welcome to the forums. Come for the posts, stay for the HUGLAGHALGHALGHAL.
And shit, reminds me of how badly my S.T.A.L.K.E.R Bandit class testing went when I realized that sticking with the vodka was better than being cold turkey.
I have started playing again after a four month hiatus.
Slowly (SLOWLY) fighting small numbers of regular zeds (fast zombies makes them a real threat early game, which makes it fun!) in a mansion, and found the motherload: “A wooden barrel of single malt whiskey (2800)”. Surprisingly it is only worth $1320. I want it, partially because I want to turn it into “A wooden barrel of clean water (400)”, and partially because it is 2800 units of booze. Unfortunately, it weighs 135kg, and has 400 volume.
What is the best way to move this from the center of a mansion? I am thinking driving in a motorbike modded with a car’s trunk, getting naked, moving it one tile into the trunk, and driving out, and then drinking until I lose consciousness.
(I also have around 150 volume units of books in my shopping trolley That library is going to be very useful for me, provided I can keep hydrated)
If you want to move the barrel, you can just used advanced inventory to move it one tile at a time. If you got the needed tools and mechanics skills, then make a wheelbarrow that uses a trunk instead of a box and you’ll be able to drag it around if you got enough strength. No wheel needed.
Now, if you wanna waste the whiskey, you can just unload the contents to the ground. On the other hand, if you got a welder and welding goggles, you can simply craft a metal tank so you won’t waste the whiskey.
Also, you can simply just lug the barrel around. Will cause a lot of pain though. You won’t be able to carry it if your strength is too low.
But basically, you won’t need to drive a motorbike. Just two steel frames will do to make a makeshift wheelbarrow-trunk.
Anyway, I was just clearing the wreckage of what appears to have been an arms drop flight while keeping an eye on a group of zeds chasing wildlife when this happened:
Current hobo met his glorious end after fumbling driving a car I was looting with/ carrying supplies back and ploughed into a gas station. The car was filled with molotovs, ammo and a few rockets I had scavenged. As well as being fully fuelled. The resulting fireball was worth leaving deathcam on for.
Had to clear out a small town as there were several roads into unknown areas and it was the only place to get a car through due to all the forests. After clearing out some streets, I decided to gather all the items I don’t want to bring that’s littering the place, mostly torn clothing, splintered wood, and damaged tools I already have, and guns I don’t want in front of my car so I can run it over and destroy them completely. Because I’m slightly loony about things, I’m considering mopping up the gore as well.
Aside from that, not wearing survivor gear is certainly adding longevity to my playthrough. Even with high melee and 15 strength, 19 dex due to an artifact plus wired reflexes, and a diamond kukri… plus some rivtech guns and a ton of ammo (and high skills for the use of those things), I find myself close to death multiple times.
Shame u had no recording of it would have been cool to post here :)
Next time something like that happens I’ll make a point of doing so :D. Fiery deaths are a recurring thing. Like the cig I was smoking in latest experimental dropped from my mouth and lit my base alight. That caught me off guard. I how the devs actively adjust the game to keep you on your toes and negate the worst min/maxing to make it too easy over time.
Small town cleared out. There’s one time-consuming thing I could do for nothing but silly reasons.
Completely level the town. Jackhammer walls, take away every single item, run over items I don’t want, until there’s nothing left. The map will show a town, but there will be absolutely nothing there. Even the blood and gore will be mopped up.

Wow. That’s some dedication to clearing out a town. You do it literally. Just imagen how confused someone would be if they had a map of the town but there was no town.

Thanks for giving me an idea, Might even do it to an even bigger town/city.
Might Even post pictures of the results if everyone asks…
I was using a bow so I could get better with archery and when I was about to fire it targeted a jumping spider that wasn’t showing up on screen. I shot at it once and it died to 11 damage and left no corpse on the ground at all. That was strange.

Are you sure you were targeting a ‘Giant’ Jumping Spider instead of the normal one?
…I didn’t think there was normal sized spiders in the game. That’s… interesting to say the least. Well in a way I have found out I am a dead eye with a bow sense I can hit a normal sized spider from a distance.
Regular spiders in this game are harmless and adorable, it seems. Weird that they’re about the only creature that you’ll always displace instead of attacking.
Even regular bullfrogs will bum-rush you, but spiders? Nope.
