New char started lab-challenge unwilling mutant, however upon creation it came up a couple of errors and dumped me on the surface? Does this mean there are no labs at all in this world? (city size is at 12)
City size 12 is VERY likely to crowd out labs yes.
So after a creating a bunch of worlds tweaking with settings I finally get a char that spawn in a lab and end up with the greatest spawn ever:
Punch it do death @ xD
The new zombie bashing code really works - I just had a bunch of firefighter zombies bash down a fire station wall to get at me.
never seen zombies bash down walls /other then hulks
Oh good lord. So now any regular old zed that knows your in that house can just rip through the wall after you?
So much for any attempt at base building.
No, only if you attract a large horde will they be able to get in. It took about 6 firefighter zombies working together to get through the wall. Hulks, brutes, and large numbers of tough/soldier/firefighter/etc. zombies will be the only ones able to break through.
Decide to go to sleep in a random house while scavenging in a town. I clear out zombies nearby, barricade up a room by boarding windows and moving furniture to block, and then proceed to fall asleep. Next thing I know, I get woken up with the message, “A piercing beam of light bursts forth!” and “You hear crash!”. I look and there is a hole in the wall, my bed I was sleeping on has been destroyed, but I am unharmed and there is no sign of what caused the hole. Looking outside the hole, I don’t see anything in the 10 tiles of vision the moonlight provides. I am about to leave when a ‘hunting horror’ comes running in and another ‘piercing beam of light’ burst out and hits me, wrecking the floor and bringing my torso health to half. I have never seen a hunting horror before, so I assume that this is what is causing these light beams of death so I quickly switch to my shotgun and fire point blank into this creature’s face. Headshot, 148 damage, and yet the creature is still alive. The creature seems to shrug off the round and starts approaching, and I am panicking because I will not likely survive another one of those beams, so crossing my fingers I fire at it again.
Critical, 126 damage, yet this monstrosity is coming at me like nothing happened. It melees me, but luckily I block the attack and my reinforced cargo pants absorbs the rest of the attack. I once again fire, knowing this may be my last change… Headshot, 149 damage, the beast finally is slain. Congratulating myself on killing this newly found creature, I start to walk outside room to pack up and leave this cursed house. I exit the bedroom and try to shut the door behind my when all the sudden I notice the door is gone. Another ‘piercing beam of light’ just came by and destroyed the door behind me. Apparently the hunting horror was not the cause of the light beams, so now I am on the run from something I can not see, yet can clearly see me through the darkness, and that I know nothing about.
RUN FROM THE EYE
RUN
Great scenario ^^ hope you survive so you can slay your attacker one day.
I think he doesn t know what it is Ninja hide that
I started a world for a Let’s Play, and then a world for just playing on my own, as I am wont to do.
In my LP world I’ve found a quiet little village, with a hardware store, three houses and a pizzeria, and the first house I looked in contained enough food to last me a while (Provided I eat the perishables before they rot, so those’ll be my priority).
In my own world, I’m raiding houses (and checking sound values - for some reason smashing a window is less noisy than prying open a door with a crowbar, I raised a github ticket about this issue!), and there’s a mall on my map, so I’m gonna be heading over there out of curiosity. I’ve never seen a mall in Cata until this run, so this should be fun! (And probably also deadly)
Started a new world and discovered that there are no monsters in it besides animals
I ran through the streets of a city I found and didn’t discover one zombie.
I didn’t activate the No Monsters mod and I set mob spawn to 1.00, so what the fug happened?

that story is awesome! that hunting horror must be realy tough
Nah.
Took me three days to clear a mall.
Keep in mind, I cleared said mall out with mid-to-end game Kito McUrist. (Mid to end game is what I call the time I had my Broadsword, and not my monomulecular blade.)
Sooo if you had any feelings about setting up shop there… Good luck…
Successfully escaped a lab, how I got out? Well I bumbled around each floor until i found a way up taking anything I could, there was a room with a teleport (the hand held kind) in it which contained a bunch of scientist Z’s and skitter-bots the room I approached from had vivisector snorted cocaine and kited everything into the viv. Eventually got to the top floor and tele’d twice, 1st time got into a side room and avoids the turret 2nd use got me outside.
I’m trying to attract a horde but it isn’t working. I can see the horde right there! And I’m in the same map tile! What gives!
The wiki says it only has 80 hit points, yet it took at least 3 times that amount before dying.

that’s slightly out of date
and by slightly i mean a lot
EDIT: Also, I play with low-size cities and 0.5 item spawn usually because I prefer innawoods survival to urban survival and I feel the default item spawn is too forgiving, but I bumped city size up to default 4 and items up to 1.0 for this newest run, and it’s been a fun new experience. Got a deep bite on my leg from a fat zombie so I went on a risky night looting run deep into the heart of the city, jumping through houses and searching each bathroom for disinfectant while being chased by an unknown number of unseeable zombies that were following my scent and the sound of me crowbarring doors open. At one point I stumbled into the center of a pack of 5 zombie dogs, managed to take them out without getting too badly bitten though (thank you, early-game tailoring).
Finally found a first aid kit in a milsurp store, loaded up on MREs and bottled water, and hiked back to my safehouse at the borders of town.
