What's happening in YOUR randomly generated apocalypse? Part 2!

Joshua is planning how to take down the ‘refugee center’ that is nearby. He has heard stories of that place from the woman that he found alongside the road. Stories that give him nightmares to this day.

Maybe he will light the place on fire, maybe he’ll run a tank through it. Perhaps he will gun them down one by one, he hasn’t decided yet. Maybe after a scouting trip he will have a better idea.

After 30 days of a quite harsh wilderness life during spring, my character is living at the motel. His living conditions are much better now due to the fact that he sleeps in the bed, he drinks from 50l aluminium keg that is full of clean water, he warms up near the fireplace. On the other hand, he is worried because it is not a low profile life anymore… He does not live in the deep forest, using very simple stone tools, eating starch and eggs, avoiding any contact with zombies and monsters and protecting himself with a sling. Now it is the motel instead of the log cabin, the solar car instead of his foot, fastfood instead of starch and eggs. He is weak now and he knows that weakness leads to the death

What happened? A fungal tower as a next door neighbor?

No, no fungal tower. I needed something to do so I decided that Joshua was told by the NPC that he just recruited that the ‘refugee center’ was making people disappear. Newcomers would be taken to the basement never to return, smuggled off to a lab still working on experimental mutations or something worse.

I kinda stole the rough idea from Joeblivion’s current Lab Challenge run - Cataclysm:DDA - Lab Challenge. Debating giving Joshua the Psychopath trait after this is all done…

Jessie Valentine smiled in satisfaction, it had taken a long time, more then six months in fact but her new home was finally feeling like, well, home

Never again will I build with frickin concrete

edit: 4 months in fact, didn’t calculate it properly, that or it just seemed like 6 months. :unamused:

Concrete? Good Lord! And I though doing log walls and roofing was driving me crazy. Deforestation here I come!

“Oh boy! This atomic sportscar has 2 really good electric engines in the back. I wonder if…”
That was 2 seasons ago. Now, here’s the 7 ton Atomic Ranger. Mostly heavy duty parts and military composite plating at this point. The engines still have regular frames and that seems to be the biggest weak point. Can’t reinstall the second engine if I take it out so this is the way it’s gonna have to be for now.

Minireactor’s been replaced with premium solar panels so this thing isn’t really atomic anymore buuuut you know. It’s a nice name. And yeah, 7 tons. This thing does anything and everything. Truly a mobile base. Somehow still manages to reach 300km/h on a long stretch. 2 lifting arms in the back just in case I ever get my mechanics skill high enough to go for yet another engine. Plus I like the idea of zombinis getting impaled on them. Splotch!

That entire mine for 9 squares of reinforced concrete :unamused:
I find gold more often then I find sacks of concrete

I hate trying to get the roofing in. So many places that it won’t let me place it.

Edit: I think I figured it out. Looks like maybe I should have waited to install the doors and windows until the structure was completely walled in. Seems atleast for the windows I should have waited so that the game knew where ‘inside’ was.

You might wanna start crafting it yourself. Quicklime (drops from rock) + sand = cement. Cement + sand + pebble = concrete

That’s what I did, I found exactly 4 sacks of concrete while looting, including 2 hardware stores. It takes 12 sacks per 1 square of reinforced concrete, take a look at the album and see how much I had to excavate to get enough limestone for it. :unamused:

Been raiding the edge of a mega city with a squad of four survivors, decked them all out in high powered equipment. Even picked up a fifth on the drive out, an apex predator mutant. We hit an LMOE shelter on the edge of town, and when I get to the top of the stairs there’s a horde right on us- 40+ swimmer zombies only… I had one move to get out before being trapped, three NPC’s made it out but only one got back to the van, useless captives instead of my new mutant friend :(, a total massacre. Now I have to trek through the sewers back to my old base to snag some more manpower

The idea that in the process of trying to make a concrete structure you found enough gold to run a really high class bullet milk is entertaining to me though.

RIP. But now I’m curious. What kind of high powered equipment are we talking here? Swimmer zombies aren’t usually that bad.

Sorry, should of been clearer, I found more gold while looting then concrete :stuck_out_tongue:
On the bright side, I don’t think I’m ever going to run out of salt and unless I build a steam engine I don’t think I’m ever going to run out of coal either.

Less exciting, but still pretty sweet.

Coal is just diamonds that haven’t been compressed yet :stuck_out_tongue:

Just semi auto powerful firearms and good melee weapons. Didn’t want to get shot in the back so everyone had .357’s or semi auto rifles. Problem was closeness, the mob was literally not one tile from the door

I’d also argue that if there’s a magma pit that close to the foundation of the building it should really just spontaneously catch fire. Like how is there a lava pit under a residential home and the home is still there?

Watch out for sharks down there. I’ve heard nasty rumors.
