Bandit outposts can be a good place to find hackpro USBs (and other goodies), be careful if you go searching there though.
I have yet to run into one of those, but I think I’ve read they are kind of rare. Might need to whip up a mini-deathmobile and go cross country for a bit. I have dynamic NPCs off right now, but static NPCs on. I feel like bandit outposts will fit with static, but I’m not sure. Anyone know for sure?
I think I’m just gonna keep on driving…
My current survivor started out on a horse ranch. Being still pretty new to this game, I’m a little bit proud of myself at how long she’s lasted so far. There were no horses at the ranch, but there were a pair of chickens, which she befriended and are now giving out the occasional egg.
Initially she was trapped at the ranch with a missile silo & gun turrets south, on the only road leading away from the propery and an abundance of ants N/NW between her and a lake & who knew what else beyond. So she cautiously began exploring E/NE in search of food and other goodies to help better her situation - Am I glad she did!
A little ways past the stand of woods east of her horse ranch was another type of ranch! There were some helpful supplies, but the BEST discovery was the livestock. There was a horse and a cow in the barn & several pigs roaming around the fields behind the house. Was able to befriend the cow & horse and take them back to the original ranch, but I can’t seem to figure iut what I need to befriend the pigs. All that bacon is making her drool just thinking about it.
Fast forward a week or so and she has a charcoal kiln & 2 smokers built to preserve food. She’s made a bug mutant friend who is a little weak but crazy fast. Together and with a sling she made to give some range, they’ve been hunting ants back near the original ranch and are FINALLY beginning to stock up their food stores. It’s just slow with only a stone handaxe to cut down trees with. She really needs to find or figure out how to make something better.
Just this morning she made possibly her best discovery yet! Past the ants and beyond the lake was a cabin out in a field. Oh good, some more supplies and maybe a new tool. Nope. Well yes, but that seemed really minor after finding 3 different magic books, 2 different magic wands, mana crystals and crystallized mana. She brought it all back to her ranch & hasn’t studied or used any of it yet, but once she stocks up more firewood it’s next on her list. One wand is fireball, the other is magic missile (I think). The spell books are for earth mage, battle mage and one I think was introduction to the divine?
Any tips on the magic stuff or how to befriend pigs from that other ranch would be awesome!
While looting a gunstore that was close to a sulfurous anthill a bush elephant just busted down the wall and is trying to do the same to the barred windows to the indoor range.
It was about time I learned something about base building, my growing interest in NPC’s justified the necessity for a base from scratch. So I tried, HARD, to find the best possible location for what I have in mind how to utilize my newly acquired foot soldiers and base.
We have friends from the city, slime pit from the south, triffids somewhere from the east/south-east, and ants somewhere farther from the north-west. It’s basically perfect.
It’s such a crowded place, so to facilitate the construction I built a 10x10 metal cocoon around my newly started underground base.
I’m not sure yet of the exact design, just some vague ides, but it absolutely must be GLORIOUS reinforced concrete, lots of mines, spiked pits and barbed wire FULL OF LOVE.
Why does it say “Unseen”? There is no way to unsee that.
Something new. The map saves itself so you know what’s around you, but when your not looking it doesn’t say what’s there. I think it does that so that whenever you leave and a wall collapses or the fungus does things you won’t know unless you check yourself.
Simon has finally completed the first stages of Fort Isherwood. What started out as a storage facility is now walled in and secured. The sleeping room is set up and the storage rooms are being repurposed into cooking and smithing spaces. Soon the modest garden will be planted and watched over…
The ants to the northwest are a nuisance but should serve as an adequate food source. Heavy autonomous military hardware has been sighted to the far west though, a drone tank and a chicken walker. They shall have to be dealt with sometime soon.
Found another tank drone. Seriously, who though letting these things lose was a good idea?
Simon is trying to do too many things at once and he knows it. But the crops need to be put in soo, the infrastructure needs to be finished, and a million small things that he id deathly afraid of forgetting about.
Considering the colossal amount of screw ups leading up to the cataclysm are you really all that surprised someone thought automated tanks were a good idea?
Not really. But then again I have read Killdozer, long ago. And well… Skynet! Damn you stupid humans!
Killdozer sounds familiar, I’m sure I read a story called that in a scifi anthology some years ago.
Theodore Sturgeon is the author I believe.
That’s the guy, Sturgeon wrote a lot of excellent stuff.
'Started a new run awhile back and I’ve just recently acquired 3 Chickens. Now I’m wondering; Do they need to be fed every now and again? Do they multiply? How long does it take for them to lay eggs?
Cheers for answering my questions in advance
Sam shot a boomer in a massive explosion that left behind a single vibrator, in a giant puddle of purple goo.
There was another boomer behind it, which she also took down in a shot. Which also left behind a single vibrator in a giant puddle of goo.
I dunno I just started cackling at that point. I’m 5.
Least the pair knew how to spend a good time together, I guess?
