Vehicle Armor: Steel Plating vs. Military Composite

I’ve come across these two types of armor countless times now, but I still don’t know what the difference is between them. They’re about equally rare, steel weighs more, composite has higher durability, but is there more to vehicle armor than weight and durability? Does steel stop bullets less reliably, does it take less damage from impacts or a zombie’s melee attack? What’s the trade-off between the two? In my experience military composite renders your car practically invincible to everything up to, and including, .50 cal and average zombies, is there any reason to use steel over composite at all?

steel is a bit more common…i think…in like bank van and stuff…composite is only military vehicle but there not so rare to be a problem…just use composite

Steel plate armor can be crafted.
