only washborard +detergent ca nwork aside soap
They are crazy rare. I generally find multiple pasta presses before I find a single can sealer.
Does anyone know if the bug where if an unobstructed tile inside your vehicle is stepped on, while that tile is also over deep water, you get the option of diving into the water instead of, correctly, stepping onto the frame of your vehicle, has been fixed?
Found some good armor from some of the zeds I’ve just killed (One of them being SWAT Armor) and I was wondering if there’s any other way to clean them instead of using the good ol’ “Washboard + Soap” method.
What’s wrong with washboard and detergent? Soap is everywhere and a washboard should be easy to make. Then you just need some water.
If you are annoyed by the (filthy) clothing then you can disable it.
Not so much that but rather I am disappointed that I cannot just turn off filthy rags.
that would be filthy clothing… or do you mean make it so that (D)isassembling clothes magics them clean?
Hey guys,
Can the health bonus given to straight-edge lifestyle be negated by food quality ?
My character doesn’t wake up “ready to take on the world” anymore. I’m suspecting a decrease in nutrition quality, due less found ingredient and abuse of toast’ems and cookies.
Is it that hard ? Thanks.
If you are asking whether junk food damages your health, then yes (you can destroy your body on a diet of nothing but french fries)
xD
Man, Cataclysm is hard. Hav’ta sow those seeds once winter is over then.
Thank you.
Been wondering about this for a while. Does boomer bile cause nausea? Noticed that sometimes after going melee on some huge boomers that my survivor will experience some nausea once in a while. Doesn’t seem like a survivor mask protects against it.
I’m about 90% sure that indeed, it does cause nausea after a recent run in with one. Speaking of boomers, I think I recall they are incapable of giving “bites” and using their bile you can train your dodging pretty high. Is that still the case?

On one hand, figured out how to raise close-range skills past level 7.
On the other hand, knowing how to raise it to level 11 remains a mystery. Tried encumbering the entire body where encumbrance on each part was at least 50-70, with torso at 120+ encumbrance, wielding a scalpel (since I want to train piercing and that one is at level 11 already). Nothing happens.
In fairness I’m trying this on a lone zombie dancer which I spawned for the purpose of figuring it out. Still, the fact that nothing isn’t happening despite my survivor suffering some crippling penalties to movement and combat is not a good sign.
I’m stumped. Has anyone managed to raise it past 11 in the current versions of the game? Is there anything in the game files that’ll hint to how to raise it past that level?
tougher opponent?
Tried shoggoths and jabberwocks. Nothing. Attacking them is too simple to train the weapon skill, the game says. With all the encumbrance, it takes forever to attack and there’s really no signs of progress, and with that kind of performance with encumbrance I’m a bit hesitant to try it on a tank drone.
I’m wondering if the predator/apex predator mutation of some mutagen branches can break past level 11, but if that’s the case then there’s no way I’ll be able to break through. 11 is pretty good, though I wish it wasn’t so vague about things. Like, if the message upon leveling up the skill is that you can’t improve it further period, instead of just saying that it has become trivial, then I wouldn’t be wondering about it.
Take marksmanship, for example. Once you start hitting things at a range that won’t progress the skill, the game outright says to try hitting farther targets. Would be nice if a similar message can be done with weapons.

I’ve gotten to 11 in piercing, 25 in swimming, and 22 in rifles on my current survivor, but it’s from the bug where when you ask an NPC to train you brawling they train you in the last skill(i think) you asked them to train you successfully, whether they have the level in that skill or not. I’ve kinda turned it more into a test run/debug run now, just trying to see how some of the later game content works before I restart again I guess, it feels kinda cheesy though that I got those skills so easily.
I do get the message “you need to attack tougher targets to train your xxx skill higher”(or whatever it says) when using my machete, it alternates between bashing, peircing, and cutting actually, when I thought it just had bashing and cutting damage.
I’m about 90% sure that indeed, it does cause nausea after a recent run in with one. Speaking of boomers, I think I recall they are incapable of giving “bites” and using their bile you can train your dodging pretty high. Is that still the case?
Getting sufficiently slimed (say, by fighting amoebic molds) can do it to.
And yes, boomers are one of the best early-game dodge trainers, since they can’t give deep bites. After level 4, you can still level dodging (up to 7? 8? something like that) against their bile, but it’s a bit slow (since they only do that every few rounds).
What makes it so roller blades do their speed up thing?
It decreases your movement cost, if that’s what is asked about…
Normally one has 100 point to spend every turn. When you walk on flat smooth floor that costs 100, you spend 100. When you put on roller blades, it costs less than 100, so you have some to spare. Then you can have an extra move every few turns.
