How long we talkin here. Also for reference how much food did grocery stores used to have?
The last build I had was alllll the way back in October 2016 lol. The grocery stores usually had like multiple shelves of canned/packaged food and fruits, lately I might find like one can per grocery store. Vending machines ive found only have 1 or 2 items as opposed to a million items lol. I don’t mind if the devs decided to rebalance the loot or something its just different to how I recall the amount of loot you could find in these places is all.
Well I am not sure I can accurately represent due to only just starting in the latest experimental where supposedly you no longer get full cbms from butchering corpses meaning your u need to source the tools and meds yourself.
No problem. I hadn’t played in a long time as I said so there’s bound to have been changes in the newer versions. The CBM change sounds pretty different from the older versions too haha.
I read around the time I first started playing that the item spawns were adjusted at some point before I started playing. With the current system default is 1.00, and 4.00 would be about what it was before(I read that 4.00 bit of info on this forum or the cata sub on Reddit and am hopefully remembering right). I remember garages weren’t spawning any items when I first started playing, but they do now, and I’ve seen other people ask about vending machines not spawning many items( I’ve only ever seen them spawn 1 or 2 items, and 2 was when I first started and would put the spawn rate up while learning, I believe, because I can’t remember any machine recently having more than 1 item, but I’ve been taking junkfood intolerance lately so not much in the machines for me usually anyway.

It always seemed weird that an apocalypse that according to lore happened over the course of days ends up with very little loot in the world. When 99% of the world dies very suddenly there is going to be a HELL of a lot sitting around.
I agree Kobold but one of the many great things about this game is the customization, like as NuG pointed out you can adjust the spawn rate of items, and of course zombies etc to whatever amount you want. Lots of items/monsters or very few or an amount thats kind of more balanced.
I would rather see 3 months after the end, not 5 days.
We could also up the amount of destruction and looted stuff

Ended up getting full heavy survivor gear and going down to the vault to battle the irradiated hordes, but now i have a new problem. Namely, any time I engage a large group of the bastards my fucking game crashes. It happens every time without fail. The hordes are pretty big, but i have enemy spawns on 1x and have fought comparable numbers of zeds in cities with no such crash. Also no experimental Z levels on. The crashes seem to happen between my turns when all the wanderers around take a swing at me. Using chesthole tileset and there is always the little POW symbol on me when the game crashes. Any idea what might be causing it? I really want to explore the vault and would rather not debug kill everything to be able to do so. Game hangs for about a minute and then cataclysm crashes, usually without an error message

There is a mod that is supposed to add randomly decayed buildings, graffiti and possibly other things. It is a lua mod just an fyi.

The Extended Buildings Mod has some “derelict buildings” in it, I believe they are called, not sure which mod within that mod they come from though. I did recently seen the lua one your talking about as well, and might give it a try if it’s not hard to add… all the mods give me all of theeem!

Do you get a crash message? Had run into that problem a while back when I was clearing a second vault. At 5x monster spawn and 0.5 item spawn (at the time, increased it to… 0.6), I’m not sure why I bothered…
Anyway, if you want to clear the place here’s what I did. Tunnel with a jackhammer at the edges of the vault. Make one long one-tile tunnel, and lure the wanderers there. This way, I was able to lure large chunks of them away from vault, making a crash less likely. Just rinse and repeat until done.
Again, really the main problem of the vault is the pretty high spawn rate, and since the area is a cramped location unlike a city you end up getting a horde packed like sardines on two floors, causing the game to lag like hell.
the issue is how damn tedious it is with wanderers on.

When i do get a crash message it is just a general runtime error. I have just been luring them into chokepoints, only having 3-4 tops attacking me at once seems to solve the crash issues
Yeah, I got the same errors. Making my own chokepoints worked better since the tunnels make fighting them far less laggy.
My Potato bursts into flames at the whiff of a vault.
So, I had an excellent spawn today.
A house I spawned in, had a decent amount of food, but what’s awesome was the house next door, which has a pool and gave me a legit nippon sword.
My question is related to that, or to be more precise, Vorpal Strike.
Is Vorpal Strike exclusive to diamond weapons? If not, if I kill a J with this katana and later upgrade it, will it retain the ability?
Also, who wants to bet I will die like an idiot not even a week into Spring?
Actually I never legitimately got my hands on diamond weapons mainly due to being unable to find hydrogen. I am now thinking of making a mod that adds an electrolysis machine that you can both find or make that could allow you to make some low grade hydrogen and oxygen tanks from water. Speaking of which why was the plasma engine removed or whatever?
Used to find a decent amount of hydrogen long ago. 'course, that was before the item spawn rate was adjusted. Right now, just got enough hydrogen to diamond-coat one weapon. A small one. Maybe.
I know that plasma engines used to spawn in banks, but yeah upon checking they seem to have removed it. Didn’t realize, because right now finding anything in banks is super rare. Like maybe encountered more than 50 banks at this point; only one had a Rivtech binder and its combat armor, one time there was a probability travel and another with a teleportation unit. Then once in a while some purifier, but usually money bundles or gold and silver… and more than half the time it was a whole lot of nothing.
Hell, security vans often had more gold and silver (and diamond to boot) than bank vaults did.
