Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Is there any way to put curtains up on a window? I can’t find anything in the construction menu about it. Could be I’m just blind.

The window construction has 3 steps, and the last step is adding a curtain.

The Arcana mod isn’t present in any of my recent experimentals, is there a reason for that?

It’s a damn shame I can’t finally get around to fiddling with the weapons in the mod.

It has been officially obsoleted (there’s a flag). It’s still maintained and available in it’s own github repository.

From that thread, reasons for the obsolete:
Here’s what I heard:

Rumors of C:DDA project decline. Insufficient developers for maintenance. Having official mods considered peculiar. Too much JSON bashing, not enough C++ features. Many mods are scheduled for obsolescence, to be maintained elsewhere and updated using the Launcher.
That, and some interpersonal issues between the guy who made the mod and a couple of the primary developers. I’ve been witness to some of that, and I don’t think there’s any one place to point the finger on that part - human beings just don’t get along sometimes.

There’s also a reinforced glass window (not to be confused with the reinforced boarded up window) with curtains of its own. In this case, curtains are actually steel plating used as shutters.

You can’t open the window itself and walk through them, but they’re a lot more durable than normal windows.

wait lemme try

no its not

Too much of it and your survivor will die from dehydration.

It’s almost rough on the hidden health stat, IIRC - that affects how much you heal, how vulnerable you are to catching cold, and how quickly broken limbs set. Low health can make combat prohibitively dangerous (because recovery time is so long).

I know this sounds stupid, but how do I escape the lab as a broken cyborg?
I’ve been in that damned place for hours (real life time) and haven’t had a clue.

A science id card will obviously get you out, other than that a teleporter, or sufficiently large explosive, or even a jackhammer/pickaxe could work. But its entirely probable you wont be able to find a way out. The original challenge was to survive as long as you can in a locked lab, till someone found you could disarm the teleport traps and escape.

This question, man… I’ve answered it some many times.

List of known escape methods:

 • science ID card (pure luck, no skill)
 • find a teleporter (luck)
 • disarm a teleport trap and replace it on the top floor (almost entirely skill based, can almost always be done)
 • build a vehicle to ram the door - yes, literally possible, but have to get lucky on tools or manage to install Integrated Toolset CBM
 • find/craft explosives (crafting is a pain but usually possible - usually need to start with some cooking skill to have a chance, though)
 • fine a way out into the sewers - rare, lucky
 • find/make an electrohack - rare to find, probably have to start with some skill to make one. needs some luck
 • find a pickaxe, mine your way out - lucky
 • start near enough to a town that the zombie horde knocks down the walls up top (rare and lucky)
 • start near triffids, queens destroy walls (lucky)

Those are the ones I can remember off-hand. There are more.

Thanks. I was stuck because I couldn’t get to the lowest level.
But eventually I found another exit.

The sewer.

Edit*

LOL

I didn’t notice deoxy’s new post while I’m playing the game.

Making dynamite to escape labs are usually my go-to plan.

I can blow up the walls and destroy the turret with a gun and a smoke bomb or just chucking a bundle of dynamite at it.

When I miss an attack with my awl pike it will say “You miss and stumble with the momentum”, does that mean I take longer to recover from a missed attack with the awl pike? Am I just not strong enough with 8 str to properly swing it?

I’m having some serious RNG problems finding a stethoscope. I know they can spawn in hospitals and ambulances, but where else can they be found?

Veterinarians

MAYBE on science bodies.
