Last time I played I remember a “speed” setting for monsters. It replaced the old “slow zombies” mod. I quite like the functionality, really! But it affects all creatures, right? Isn’t there a way to make it affect just zombies?
I haven’t played in a long time but I’m planning to go back, so I decided to clear this doubt. I really wish there was a way to make it just affect zombies, but I won’t complain if it can’t!
It affects everything.
See PR 19398. Seems making the rule selectively enforced is not easy
I know how that a survivor machete has way more techniques and skills available for its use, but it has a lower cutting/bashing and I think to-hit ratio than a regular machete.
Anyway, is it viable to sacrifice the cutting/bashing and to-hit ratio for all the techniques that the survivor machete has?
Or does it all come down to skill, and if you can use those skills with a high melee/cutting skill?

Man, what a shame. I guess i won’t be playing until they fix that, kind of a game breaker for me!
Personally, I don’t make that “upgrade” even when I can. Hitting is the most important thing.
(Though I must say, having the right weapon for a weapon style is almost always worth doing, even if the weapon itself is sub-optimal. Katanas and such are just not as good… unless you have Niten Ichi-Ryu, then they are amazing. All the small weapons, in particular, benefit ridiculously from the right weapon style.)

What would be a good stlye for a knife as backup weapon? I’m currently trying out a gun-focused approach to combat, yet I would like to have a combat knife or somesuch as a fallback.

Current survivor has both (lab armories FTW). Silat seems to be more defensive, with the extra dodge it grants. It feels more than just +1 dodge, as testing on a few one-on-one hulk fights didn’t cause my survivor to get sent flying by the hulk’s smash attack.
For Eskrima, I feel that it’s more offensive. Got smashed two times on several of the one-on-one fights, but the damage dealt with Eskrima is better.
The vicious strike critical hit of Silat dealt at most 68 damage.
The puno strike critical hit of Eskrima dealt 116 damage.
Done on a combat knife, by the way. Would be interesting if I could find a rivtech combat knife. Shame that piercing weapons can’t be diamond coated.

Silat has more means of preventing them from attacking in the first place, so dodging isn’t nearly as important. There’s both stun and knockback, at least, which prevents a lot of attacks - I’ve taken on a hulk with Silat and a machete and killed it without it ever getting a single attack off (though it’s not usually THAT amazing).
When you are installing a part it will say (in the bottom corner iirc) if it is opaque or not. Took me a while to figure that out. I was wondering why I could still see outside through my quarter-panels.
Not really a newb question or anything, but I don’t think it needs it’s own thread. Just wondering what’s the difference from the Chesthole tileset and the Chesthole16/32 tileset. I see a few things different, but is one out of date or something?
Is it possible to copy the same character on the same world? Like, I want to do a run with my survivor on the same world where she goes with the bear mutation line, but I want to still have the same non-mutated character at the same time.
If you guys have problems with Armored Zombies, Shockwave Generator is your best friend. Lure the zombie next to a wall and start activating it to throw it in the wall. In 4 shockwaves the zombie will die.
I think doing a Save-As of the save file (for the character) under a different name so you can have both. They should both be “alive” at the same time in the same world which will cause some timeline discrepancies
should have no problems unless you try to run them both simultaneously so that their reality bubbles touch.
