Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

Reached ninth day of first spring but it seems that there’s no animals anymore around the woods where the evac shelter I’m holed up. There was a lot of them in the first to fifth day. Dogs, raccoons, moose, bears, etc, but it seems they all killed themselves. Do animals respawn? Because my muse is starting to starve already. (Since I had the brilliant idea to set spawn scaling factor to 2, cities are dangerously overrun with zed.)

Mods?

its likely a fluk due to you murderating them all and them not respawning within plain sight.

My character has been in pain in the last few days, and there’s no infection nor wound.
At first I thought he had too many items, so I tried to remove all of them, but the problem was still there.

Ideas?

take antiradiation.

what mods?

All default settings.
So radiation? It makes sense, I went near some craters before that.

Oh yea, thatll do it.

Time will decrease the rads.
Prussian blues will help.
Take band-aids, take painkillers, and take some sleep-aids. With a high enough health you will regen faster than you lose.

Is a refugee center a safe place to set up a base? One spawned just outside the city and it seemed safe until an NPC smashed into one of the locked-off rooms and I found 10 zombie corpses that I think she killed.
BTW, Is the refugee center a place created by the survivors or was it already built before the cataclysm?
Edit: This place is creeping me out. I found hidden doors behind an empty locker that I smashed down for a pipe.

Sorry I didn’t notice it said “muscle”. I figured out it was because I ate some uncooked meat and had bugs.
So problem solved.

Its safety depends on the distance to the nearest city. Yours seems bit risky, unless you clear out the vicinity. Then again, the NPCs are armed, and can defend themselves, including you. If you talk to the main entrance merchant, you can ask for a job, and the first job is [relevant] to clear the zeds that they locked up in one of the rooms…

Well, my refugee center was empty… Could it be because I turned static NPC spawn off?

Yep, that’s exactly why. All that the Static NPC toggle affects is the refugee center NPCs and the NPC that spawns next to you at game start.

Btw, have any of you tried playing with an insane npc spawning rate? Like a world where there is still a lot of people alive…

Yep, that used to be the norm. IIRC, default NPC spawning rate used to be fifty times higher at 1.00, rather than 0.02 like it is now.

And it was SILLY. Over time, more NPCs would spawn (lots more), but ZOMBIES don’t, so… Yeah, built-in zombie apocalypse cleanup, just wait for enough NPCs to spawn to kill them all for you.

Hey, popping back into this game after a couple months hiatus, so I’m assuming a lot has changed.

I found a scooter in perfect condition inside a house garage, drove it around for a while, walked away from it for about an hour to loot some buildings, came back and the battery was dead when it had been at 100% when I left it.

I’m assuming it’s a bug, I know a let’s player I watched play this game had the same problem a couple months ago with the vehicles in his game, but I figured it would have been fixed by now. But in the case that it’s not a bug, what happened? Like I said, every part was in perfect condition, the vehicle and all the lights, etc. were off, and I only left it for like an hour to walk down the street and clear out a grocery store.

The battery must have been below yellow, or you left something on.

I know this sounds stupid but how do I recharge the car battery? I thought it’d recharge as long as the engine is running, but after I got the first car in the game, the battery never recharged, so I had to pull batteries from other cars, even if the battery and the generator were both green.

It needs alternator on engine.

Yeah, alternator needs to be attached and in functioning condition. If you have green battery, and it is depleted, you can start an engine using jumper cables attached to your car and another car with any battery charge. Don’t forget to roll jumper cables back down and detach them.

How do I fix the roof?

I had an car accident that damaged my shelter (the default starting location), and I really don’t want to abandon it.
