Can you use stim cells on npcs
and adding on to that how do you get a magazine for the coilgun
If i get infectes by fungal spores and wait on my own carved basement till they come out, then wait and take fungicide, could i farm the fungoids that would eventually spawn?
i think yes
I kinda understand what strength, dexterity, and intelligence are used for. But I can’t work out what Perception is used for, and this is a problem as my randomly generated character currently has 13 perception (12 from stats, and +1 from a mutation she got for drinking mutagen).
Aside from spotting traps (which my 6 PER characters could reliably do with sunglasses at night), and the minor night vision boost (four tile radius at night), what else is perception good for?

Some traps are tougher to spot than others, and perception helps with this. It also contributes heavily to accuracy in ranged combat.

Isn’t the accuracy bonus to ranged combat ‘agility’?
Agility helps you steady the weapon, which let’s you aim the weapon faster, and recover from recoil or being hit more quickly. The accuracy itself is governed by perception and marksman/weapon skills.
If you want to read up on the stats, type @ ingame and use the arrow keys to read the overviews on them in the character info screen.
As I understand it, unless it has been changed back in the last few months, in the experimentals, once you kill the local fungal tower, there’s a limit on how many more fungaloids will spawn. Not sure exactly how that works (range, total number, etc), but it did seem to, last I took the time to check it - no tower in the area means fungal patches don’t generate more fungaloids (thank freaking goodness, too - inifinite fungaloids for that ONE you missed anywhere got SO OLD).

For one thing, being in pain lowers stats, so having some room in your perception for it to go down and still spot traps is a VERY GOOD thing.
Also, Niten Ichi-Ryu gets bonuses from it, which takes it from “really really good” to “just about brokenly awesome”… which is a pretty serious nerf, actually. It used to take it from “crazy stupid brokenly awesome” to “I am Chuck Norris from the ridiculous internet jokes”.
the game depopulates the spawn special. it just stops spawning new ones by decreasing the available population until no more can spawn. but - its not instant.
that said, i dont think it can remove an already present spawn that is outside of said radius. so, while i think the effort to spawn a fungal garden underground futile, i also think its pretty dorf.
ive considered making dermatik armies mysrlf :o

Yes, definitely dwarfy - full points for thinking the right way. Now go build a self-sustaining fortress completely encapsulated in magma.
What the heck would I do with a standing tank? I want to think I’d build it outdoors to collect rainwater but I’m unsure.
You can store liquid and drink from tap. That’s it. Funnel over aluminum keg is a good rain collector.
Good to know. Thanks!
Right now water collection actually isn’t my issue since I am camping next to a mansion’s pool. I was moreso looking at it to store purified water. Or maybe to have beer always on tap.

A 200l external vehicle tank next to a frame with a water faucet on = awesome. Put a water purifier on the frame aswell, maybe a generator + battery. Works great.
I’ve got a big farm going on and would like to get brewing. How to?
Assuming you mean alcohol, IIRC the only thing you can brew without the Homebrewer’s Bible is fruit wine. You can make it by constructing a fermenting vat, and making fruit wine must out of fruit such as apples and apricots. Then you put the must in the vat, and it’s ready to drink after about half a day. It requires moderate cooking skill.
If you have the homebrewer’s bible, you can make harder liquor out of a variety of crops, which requires a still.
Is there any point in wearing the power armor helmet without the suit?
i didnt know you could wear just the helm.
but it has superior armor to virtually anything else at the cost of a lot of encumbrance
The encumbrance can be a bit problematic on the eyes and mouth, since stamina will drop quickly when running and fighting and won’t really recover unless you stand still and wait. Eyes will increase dispersion with ranged weapons and might drop perception to an amount where land mines can’t be detected, and the sight radius as well.
For the head at least, not counting the eyes and the mouth, you’re better off with the heavy survivor helmet with leather and kevlar padding.
I just pulled the latest updates from unstable and am compiling the game after several month’s break. Can anyone remind me if I need to migrate my char to a newly created world to see new features added in the meantime or will the random generator add them to the world as I travel into unexplored areas?
