Regarding farming:
- Is there a chart that shows planting season and growing time depending on seed?
- Since I am playing with 91-day seasons, does this in any way affect farming?
Regarding farming:
[quote=“vassock, post:15922, topic:42”]Regarding farming:
I don’t know the specific growth times per plant, but season length does affect farming, from what I know. Most crops seem to take around a season and a half to grow. Yer gonna need to plant a lot of crops to manage real-length seasons via farming
aye
{ "point": "radiation", "amount": [10, 30], "x": 0, "y": 0 }
worked, but it was very weak radiation. My guess is that the amount is how irradiated the square is , and thus how much it gives off is determined by this.
Kind of as if a radiating survivor spent time on a square it would become radiative slightly.

I’m surprised nobody fixed that. Seems it would be pretty simple: just divide the yield of the crops by 30 and multiply by season length. I wonder if there is already a mod for it.
Also, is there any difference between having a vehicle welding and forge rig vs just keeping a UPS modified welder and electric forge in a UPS charger in the car?
Rigs are mostly treated as legacy options, but they still have a big advantage: UPS charger uses 10 charges to produce 1 charge on the item.
Where do I get a steel boom for a boom crane? How do I make it? I asked this a white ago but I don’t see a response.
You can craft a steel boom with 32 pipes, 8 chunks of steel or 24 pieces of scrap, and a steel chain. You’ll also need a tool with 1 metal sawing, 2 hammering, 1 fine bolt turning, a welder/goggles or equivalent, level 5 mechanics, level 3 fabrication, and you’ll need the actual recipe out of either the DIY Compenium or Mechanical Mastery.
Or you can find it in a garage. I think it spawns with the same rarity as all the other possible vehicles that can spawn, which means that you might find it actually easier to craft it.
Perfect. The recipe is what I was missing. I don’t appear to have any of those books, but have plenty of skills.
How DO steel booms work anyway?
Alright, I’m starting to go bonkers here.
My fabrication is up to 4, and according to the browser, I only need 2 fab to craft sheet metal. But for some reason, I can’t seem to find it in the crafting menu.
Am I just being dense and I need a book that I somehow don’t have, or is my game bugged?
Just checked on my end. I have mechanics 6, fabrication 10, and several books regarding mechanics and metallurgy. Still no sheet metal option in crafting. The item browser lists no book requirement for the recipe. I’d guess autolearning has gotten borked again.
Well that’s a damn shame. Any way to debug in only certain recipes, or do you have to learn all of them if you only want one? I’ll just wish for the sheet and sacrifice the proper scrap if not, but that’s just hella tedious.
Why are you crafting sheet metal to begin with? It’s usually easier to deconstruct ovens, refrigerators, vehicle roofs etc.
You need to attach it to an exterior tile of a vehicle ( use a spare shopping cart if you have one ) and then you can easily change the wheels on your death fortresses. ( The boom crane has to be really close to you to work though )
Middle of nowhere with none of those things, and sitting on a massive pile of scrap metal, mainly. I could go scav the stuff up, or… I could not waste my time and just use what I have with me.
Lab walls are incredibly strong! Bug or feature?
STR 30 and sledge hammer (bash dmg 40) barely dents them from what I can tell. After 100+ hits I gave up, but it didn’t give the “you don’t seem to be damaging” message. STR 40 + sledge CAN smash them easily.
What is the wall smashing logic/formula? Are there any other factors than STR and weapon bash damage? Does current stamina level affect one’s wall smashing potential?
Well, str 30 is well beyond the normal intended str of a character.
For one. For two every terrain and furniture has a min and max value for breaking strength defined. If you can do above the min you have a chance to break something. The closer you get to the max value, the more likely it is you will destroy it on any given turn. At max, its guaranteed.
Really only hulks and borebots and dark wyrms are supposed to be able to smash through concrete or metal
And here I thought that SURELY I could break concrete with STR 16 and a homewrecker. Ugh. (thanks)
Interestingly enough you can do it with a pike .
The problem is that we do not moddel dmg t to walls gradually.
You either brake it or you don t.
I can confirm this. My current character has nearly every book in the game and I can’t craft it. Although strangely some of the high level fabrication and electronics recipes have been autolearned like coilgun and pneumatic assault rifle (I’ve made neither of these, but I know them from memory). The books that you learn certain recipes from could also use a once over. Why the hell is the recipe for a Stone Axe in Engineering 301 of all places?
