Can anyone tell me what to do with the computers in the science labs? I’m in an ice lab right now and there’s an “access Melchior” console.
I gather you can read black boxes with this but does it do anything else? I can’t get the other options to do anything.
Also, I just went down lots of levels in said lab and all I found was a room full of security bots and some guns I already had.
Was I just plain unlucky and that’s the actual “climax” of the lab this time?
There’s a barracks area further upstairs with sealed metal doors with no way to open them. I tried blowing them up with C4 and it did nothing.
If blowing the doors don’t work, try destroying the walls.

Teleporters are a nice way to access the barrack’s armory, and you can find them all around the lab. It might be that this is the climax. The ‘climax’ room is teal on the minimap. The mechior thing is used for black boxes in some quests I think.
As for the guy asking for power: minireactors (atomic care of military outpost) are a great way to generate a LOT of power.

If your strength is high enough or you got the hydrolic muscles CBM you can try (s)mashing the walls with a sledgehammer or homewrecker. Worked for me last time I had no jackhammer or acetylene torch at hand.
Also a question from myself: Are npcs still capable of handing you a Mininuke active when asking them for equipment?
In my experience metal doors are just simply invincible, it’s always best to check everything around the doors, break the walls they’re attached to with a sledgehammer, etcetera.
IIRC, in labs all you can do with a hammer is break the reinforced windows, which, is a good reason to keep a sledgehammer because you can’t jackhammer the windows, buuuut, yes, use a jackhammer, teleport, Liberal Use of Explosives, but keep in mind that however way you go about it, unless you’re well prepared so you can do it the easy way, then anything you do prooobably isn’t going to be worth it to see what’s on the other side.

I dishonoured myself with the WISH option in order to experiment.
Turns out the metal doors explode into little chunks of metal as soon as you point an Acetylene torch at them.
I’ve been thinking of playing a nuclear winter run. I have a decent idea of how to aquire food and such but I was wondering if it’s possible to grow things underground.
Basically permanent winter season. No summer spring or fall. Winter.
I like the challenges it would give. Scarce food, harsh weather, etc.
On a side note, does anyone know guaranteed sources of firearms? The only one I can think of right now is disassembling turrets, tank drones and tribots for Uzi’s, M4’s and flamethrowers.
Are you asking if the game crashes every few minutes, if it has annoying game mechanics, both? I haven’t played the newest experimentals, but most of the major crashes seem to be fixed.
Here’s a weird one for you. Is the beekeeper profession starting setup actually beeproof? I’ve got this roleplay idea for a kooky beekeeping hermit that tends to a hive of giant mutated bees, but I have no idea how I’m gonna manage it without being slaughtered or wearing power armor.
