Tips, Tricks, and Newb Questions!

I think this might be a bug but I want to check first since I’ve never dealt with plasma engines before:

I installed a plasma engine and a hydrogen tank on a vehicle, I have hydrogen canisters but the vehicle interaction menu is not letting me fill the tank. It says “There is no refillable part here / The part is broken, or you don’t have the proper fuel” when everything is in perfect condition.

This is the latest experimental build.

Known bug sorry about that : https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/issues/17754

just played x5 spawn game with toad style.it makes early game breeze so much i feel like cheating- +6 armor even its doesnt sound much is huge in early game.

Potentially dumb question alert… But how do CBMs and mutations interact? Do I need to worry about accidental mutations forcing CBMs out of my body?

I think that you should be safe on that front.

Last I knew (haven’t updated in a few months), they don’t interact at all.

Is there still a bug with turrets firing automatically even without the modification? And like rjohn asked, how does turret reload work? Do you pour the bullets into the turret and reload/refill when necessary, or do you have the ammo in your inv. and reload from there (just my guesses)?

If you fail bionic installation, you may receive a mutation.

how exactly on move buff for martial arts function?how many times or on what way you need to move around enemy for it to activate.i dont have consistent results for some reason…

Is there by any chance an equivalent item in the game which does the same as a scabbard but doesn’t encumber the torso?

I’m experimenting with trying to get my torso encumberance low enough to actually use my katana.

Seems kind of odd that the scabbard gives torso encumberance. If anything you should be tripping over it since it’s dangling down.

Even if I just have a couple of back holsters, a heavy survivor suit and a survivor duffle bag, I already have a huge penalty to using the sword…

What kind of scabbard are you wearing and how old is your game? In the current versions, there’s a regular “scabbard” that goes on the leg and holds up to about 8 volume weapons. Then there’s a “baldric”, a torso scabbard that holds about 9 or 10 IIRC and goes in the “waist” layer, allowing you to wear a backpack along with it without suffering a penalty. Finally, there’s the “back scabbard”, which holds literally anything (you can fit the largest swords, nodachi and zweihanders in it) but goes in the “strapped” layer, which gives you a penalty if you wear a backpack alongside it.

i cant seem to figure out what is wrong with the handgun skill now.
any kind of pistol,no matter vanilla,or one added with a mod seem to be unable to raise the skill
from what i can gather it is something related to accuracy or such.
but i need some explanation as to what they changed related to that skill and how i can fix my mod so i can expand without any added pistol being another useless inaccurate piece of scrap.

Are post threshold mutations purifiable? I’m almost to that point but don’t want to mess myself up later if they are.

Having recently gone through and learned how the whole mutation coding works(I’m in the process of creating an entirely new mutation category for this game!), there are some traits that have the “purifiable” : false line in them. This tags them as being unpurifiable. There’s 79 “unpurifiable” traits in the game, most of which are post threshhold.

So as a general rule, once you go post-threshhold, you can’t go back. No amount of purifier will take you back to normal.

I see in the latest experimentals I see that the knife spear does not conduct electricity, does that signify that I won’t get shocked from attacking wannabe-RoboCops and shocker zambies?

I’m wondering about this too, I’ve been training my rifles skill with .22 ammo and a ruger 10/22. About 200 rounds in and my skill is approaching 5 already. I’ve been wondering if it’s the quality of the shot or just the sheer amount of shots you did with the corresponding skill, and if missing gives any exp.

Also, try exporting your save to a different version (Updates every 15 minutes or so), see if it’s a version bug. If it’s stable I recommend you switch to experimental asap.

Yup, now enemies with an electrical attack like shockers, shocker brutes, spec ops zombies, etc. Can shock you if you have a metal weapon, but wooden weapons and some polearms avoid this fact.

If you’re attacking with anything metallic that has skin contact (Guns, swords, etc.) then you’re in for a nasty surprise.
You’d be surprised how fact getting shocked will eat away at your health. Think of it as acid but damaging the whole body basically.

EDIT: Spelling c:

Thanks! I was concerned about accidentally ‘uncrosssing’ a threshold.

In the version I’m using I’m only aware of one such item and it’s just called “scabbard” and it counts as a torso/belt type item. I don’t think the waist existed separately in this way in this version…

I’d like to upgrade but I hear the new version has a crapload of bugs breaking engines etc, and I’m not sure if I can without other stuff screwing up too.

I dunno where you’ve heard that, but the current game is one of the most stable versions I’ve ever played. Hasn’t crashed once.
